Chapter 320: Chapter 198: Mounting the Wall

"Get out of the way!"

Xu Chongyuan was shoved aside by a powerful force. He whipped his head around to see a Taiping Captain from the Hujue Pass Taiping Bureau standing where he had just been, a demon’s claw protruding from his chest.

"No!"

Xu Chongyuan’s eyes turned crimson as he let out a grief-stricken roar.

The Taiping Captain from the Hujue Pass Taiping Bureau grinned, blood pouring from his mouth.

He grabbed the claw that had pierced his chest. With a twist of his long saber—SHLICK!—he skewered both his own body and the demon behind him.

"Chen Tongwei, Taiping Captain of the Hujue Pass Taiping Bureau... is not useless."

He spoke, sputtering out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Xu Chongyuan roared and lunged forward, slicing off the demon’s head with a single strike before catching the Taiping Captain in his arms.

The man’s eyes were wide open. He was no longer breathing.

"Chen Tongwei, you were a good man!"

Xu Chongyuan slid his hand over the man’s face, closing his eyes.

Tears streamed down his face. Xu Chongyuan gripped Chen Tongwei’s saber with both hands and began to slaughter the demons in a frenzy.

BOOM!

Just as Xu Chongyuan skewered two more demons, a massive force slammed into him, sending him flying backward.

A Tier Three Demon had somehow crept up on him. It had sent him airborne with a single blow and was now closing in for the kill, sticking to him like a shadow.

’Brother Chen, I’m coming.’

Xu Chongyuan coughed up a mouthful of blood, too weak to struggle.

Just then, a dragon of dust rose in the distance, sending countless demons flying.

SWISH!

Xu Chongyuan felt something like a rope wrap around his waist, and then with a WHOOSH, he was yanked into the air.

The speed was so great that Xu Chongyuan felt dizzy.

When he came to his senses, he was shocked to find himself on the back of a demon.

The creature was over a hundred feet long and covered in azure scales. It had a single horn on its head and looked somewhat like a Flood Dragon of legend.

This "Flood Dragon" charged forward at full speed. Any demon that stood in its way was sent flying, their bones shattered.

Not even a Tier Three Demon could withstand its charge for a moment.

The Tier Four Demons mixed among the Demon Soldiers scrambled to get out of its way.

Xu Chongyuan was dumbfounded.

’What is going on?’

’Are the demons fighting amongst themselves?’

’Where did this "Flood Dragon" come from?’

Suddenly, a familiar voice reached Xu Chongyuan’s ears.

"To the left! A thousand feet out, save them."

Xu Chongyuan looked up blankly.

He saw a person standing on the "Flood Dragon’s" head, directing it.

The man’s silhouette was so familiar.

"Junior... Brother Su?"

Xu Chongyuan was utterly shocked.

Just then, the Flood Dragon’s tongue shot out and, with a WHOOSH, snatched another person.

The person landed on the "Flood Dragon’s" back. It was Zhong Guizheng.

Zhong Guizheng was still alive!

Overjoyed, Xu Chongyuan helped Zhong Guizheng up. He finally understood how he himself had been rescued.

He had been reeled in by this "Flood Dragon’s" tongue.

’Wait a minute... that tongue seems a little familiar, doesn’t it?’

’No way...’

It was unbelievable. ’Could this "Flood Dragon" be that ugly four-legged snake?’

’But the transformation is just too drastic.’

It all happened in a flash.

Following Su Mu’s commands, one Taiping Captain after another was rescued and landed on the "Flood Dragon’s" back.

Everyone was covered in wounds. Having survived the carnage, they all looked somewhat dazed.

Xu Chongyuan’s heart grew heavy. Of the more than a dozen of them, only the four on the creature’s back were left, besides Zhang Wangyue who was still fighting.

Of the brothers who had come from the Wuling Taiping Bureau, only he and Zhong Guizheng remained. The Hujue Pass Taiping Bureau had suffered even greater losses; of their group of over a dozen, only two were left.

"If the brothers from the Hujue Pass Taiping Bureau hadn’t protected me, I’d be dead," Zhong Guizheng said in a weak voice.

Xu Chongyuan fell silent.

He now regretted his earlier words.

Why did he have to call the men from the Hujue Pass Taiping Bureau useless?

Those men had fought desperately to protect the people from the Wuling Taiping Bureau, just to prove him wrong.

If the demons hadn’t been so numerous, they probably would have fought to the last man to ensure no harm came to their brothers from the Wuling Taiping Bureau.

"I owe them my life," Xu Chongyuan said in a low voice.

"Don’t overthink it."

The two surviving Taiping Captains from the Hujue Pass Taiping Bureau spoke up. "We in the Taiping Bureau live on the edge of a blade. We came to terms with life and death long ago."

"Old Chen and the others didn’t die for nothing. They took down so many demons with them."

"Brother, what’s going on?" one of the Taiping Captains asked.

"It’s Junior Brother Su."

Xu Chongyuan shook his head. He didn’t understand what was happening either.

’Why is this terrifyingly powerful "Flood Dragon" listening to Junior Brother Su?’

"Junior Brother Su?"

The two Taiping Captains from Hujue Pass paused. "Su Mu?"

Shock was written all over their faces.

’So this is the famous Su Mu?’

’I thought the rumors about him were outrageous enough, but it seems they’ve underestimated him.’

"Ao Qing, let’s go!"

An enraged roar echoed from the rear of the Demon Soldier army.

A brute of a bull, over a hundred feet tall, charged toward them.

It was the Grand General of the Demon Court, a Tier Five Demon.

Seeing this, Su Mu decided to quit while he was ahead and shouted out his command.

The "Flood Dragon," Ao Qing, swung its tail and began to run, its four clawed legs churning rapidly.

BOOM!

It crashed through countless demons, charging right up to the blood-soaked Zhang Wangyue.

Zhang Wangyue was startled and was about to attack when he heard a voice.

"Governor, we’re on your side! Get on!"

Su Mu shouted to Zhang Wangyue.

Zhang Wangyue was completely stunned, frozen in place.

A look of exasperation crossed Su Mu’s face.
