“What… does this mean?”

Fighting God took a deep breath and voiced his confusion.

“It’s a kind of precaution, I suppose!”

As Su Wen spoke, he abruptly changed the subject and asked, “Or rather, Fighting God… do you think you’ll die this time?”

Fighting God: “?”

Is it appropriate for you to ask me that?

Shouldn’t that be your concern?

And if this involves the Star God, shouldn’t you two have already worked this out?

Now you’re asking me—what’s the point?

For a moment, Fighting God’s mind, though not in combat state, began racing.

“I don’t think I’ll die.”

Fighting God replied, “The current situation, while tense, isn’t dire enough for Mutual Destruction.”

“Hmm… Great God of Wealth, if you’re planning my downfall, are you pretending or serious?”

Su Wen explained, “Actually, I’ve discussed this with the Star God.”

“We’re testing the will of the cosmos this time—to see how our side’s will reacts, or perhaps how both cosmos’ wills respond simultaneously.”

“Back then, the Will of the Remnant Universe exiled the current Fighting God. So, what about the end of the world caused by the return of Fighting God’s body?”

“Will the Will of the Remnant Universe intervene again?”

“Or… to avoid the risk of destruction, will both cosmos’ wills act against the body of the current Fighting God?”

After a pause, Fighting God said, “So, you’re saying I still have to die?”

Su Wen shook his head, “Not necessarily. Maybe we can set up a plan.”

“What do you mean?”

“The Remnant Universe knows you can’t die, so having the Star God kill you is clearly unreliable.”

“And then?”

“That’s it.”

“?”

Fighting God looked puzzled. What’s the Great God of Wealth getting at?

Can you just explain clearly?

“I remember telling you that the future I saw involves the Star God betraying you and your fall.”

Su Wen sighed and spoke helplessly.

Fighting God nodded slightly; he was aware of this.

“But whether you fall, why you fall, whether the body of the current Fighting God returns after the fall, whether the will of the cosmos intervenes… these details, I’m not sure about.”

Su Wen continued, “Of course, I’m more inclined to think you didn’t actually fall. Instead, during the battle, the Star God must have hidden you away using some unknown method.”

“Or maybe, he sealed you and then created the illusion of your fall.”

“After all, in the eyes of both the Star God and me, it’s one thing for you to die from exhaustion in battle, but to have us kill you or watch you die in front of us… that’s something we probably couldn’t bring ourselves to do.”

He paused for a moment, then added, “But the real question is, how did the Star God convince the Remnant Universe to team up and plot your death?”

“The fact that you can’t die should be an unbreakable rule among the Remnant Universe.”

“And the Star God has been undercover there for a while now. What kind of plans has he set in motion? What groundwork did the Star God of the Eighth Era lay for this?”

“I’ve asked him several times, but he won’t tell me.”

“Before he left for his mission, all he said was to follow the plan.”

Fighting God frowned slightly. The whole scheme cooked up by the Great God of Wealth and the Star God seemed… off.

This wasn’t like their usual style of action at all!

If it were just the Great God of Wealth pulling something like this, he might believe it.

But with the Star God involved… was there something he didn’t know? Or maybe even the Great God of Wealth was in the dark about something?

“So, you’re saying I should just play it by ear when the time comes?”

“Exactly. That’s the idea.”

Su Wen nodded, a faint theory forming in his mind about Fighting God’s fall.

He especially remembered what the Star God had told him long ago—to be colder, more ruthless…

And now, with the Star God’s infiltration targeting the will of the cosmos, the situation was becoming clearer.

For the sake of the main Time and Space, there was nothing the Star God wouldn’t do.

The more unexpected his actions were to the Remnant Universe, the more likely he was to act outside the control of the will of the cosmos.

Su Wen glanced over at Fighting God.

He saw him deep in thought, his eyes flickering with sharpness, occasionally shadowed by worry.

“It seems Fighting God has some ideas of his own and is starting to mentally prepare for the Great Change,” Su Wen thought with a quiet sigh.

At the same time, Fighting God stroked his chin, pondering something crucial.

He was turning over the Great God of Wealth’s words in his mind.

The Star God is infiltrating the Remnant Universe!

This time, the Great God of Wealth needs to be seriously injured, and he needs to “fall.”

Does that mean, at some future time point, he could end up following the Star God and blending in with the Remnant Universe?

Even better, he could use their resources to grow stronger!

As for the corruption of the Remnant Universe?

What a joke!

His combat heart and willpower were strong enough to push away anything that could harm him.

Tsk, tsk!

Using the Remnant Universe’s resources, spending their wealth, and then turning around to fight them!

When you think about it, it doesn’t sound like a bad plan!

“As expected of the Star God, this move is truly ‘No risk, no reward!’”

Fighting God looked up at the sky, pondering this thought.

And so, Su Wen and Fighting God, each with their own thoughts and emotions, stood in the gentle breeze, each lost in their own reflections.

…

Half a year later, shocking news spread across the entire border battlefield.

The true god on duty in the Ninth Age, the Great God of Wealth, despite hearing all sorts of credible reports, still couldn’t bring himself to believe that his comrade would betray the universe.

It’s all part of a plan!

It’s all a hint!

The Star God’s betrayal must have a deeper purpose.

Maybe he’s betraying us to strike a more devastating blow against the Remnant Universe at a crucial moment.

In fact, this idea wasn’t just held by the Great God of Wealth—it was shared by most people in the Ninth Age.

Even within the Star Army, the majority supported this theory.

In the first eight ages, every Star God was flawless, standing proudly above the world!

Brilliant and unmatched!

Unrivaled in their arrogance!

How could such a Star God betray the universe?

And what could the Remnant Universe possibly offer to tempt a divine fate bearer to betray?

Status?

Power?

For the Star God, those things were already within reach!

Given the close relationship between the Great God of Wealth and the Star God, if the Star God wanted to command the three armies, the Great God of Wealth would surely agree.

So, the rumors of the Star God’s betrayal were full of holes!

This Universe thought so, and naturally, the Remnant Universe thought the same.

With the help of some spies, the Great God of Wealth’s words quickly reached the higher-ups of the Remnant Universe.

As for the nineteen true gods who were killed?

They were probably traitors who had already been corrupted by the Remnant Universe or were about to be!

Even without solid evidence, the Star God’s actions spoke louder than words!

“Gentlemen.”

In a shadowy hall, a figure seated on a throne spoke up.

“Though they are our enemies, we must admit that our opponent, the Deity of Wealth in Office for the Ninth Age, makes a fair point!”

“Even the enemies who suffered from the Star God’s betrayal don’t believe it—so why should we?”

“Doesn’t that sound a bit ridiculous?”
