Chapter 805: I’m Officially Speaking with You

She was lifeless, as if completely limp.

Yes.

She had actually long since ceased to be the deity of those rules. Perhaps from the moment she had given birth to a self through her evolution in this era, she had already set herself on a new path.

Just like that broken world.

She had never, unlike many other gods, considered it a form of imprisonment.

She truly regarded that ordinary world as her home.

And it was this sense of responsibility and affection, which she herself didn't even know when it had begun, that made her treat every person in that world as her friend, her child. So she watched them grow up little by little, watched them each come to possess their own lives...

She was gratified and happy.

But all of that changed completely with the arrival of that black nightmare.

She still remembered with crystal clarity how the rules of fate had been corroded bit by bit, how she herself had been corrupted little by little, and then in her madness had written out a series of nightmare-like, dreadful fates for the entire world.

In an instant.

Her body began to tremble violently once again.

Those memories were like nightmares, as if they were crawling out from the river of time, shrieking as they tore her apart completely.

“No... no no no no...”

Her trembling grew even more terrified.

But Lynn still looked at her with utmost seriousness, holding her deformed and twisted body tightly in his arms, struggling to suppress her violent shaking.

“Don't think about it, it's alright, I'm here, it's alright, don't think about anything...”

He murmured softly, trying his best to soothe her turbulent emotions.

In the dark space.

That violent trembling and agitation finally subsided little by little.

As if feeling the powerful, steady beating of the heart pressed close against her, she stared blankly, as if she had lost all her strength and simply let Lynn hold her.

And these nightmares.

Were her curse.

Because it was simply impossible to forget. This was the eternal punishment that hell had dragged her down and bestowed upon her.

“They... are all my children... I watched them pass down from generation to generation until now... witnessed every single one of their lives...”

“And yet I...”

She slowly lost consciousness, her eyes vacant.

“Slaughtered...”

“An entire nation.”

...

In the vast darkness, her consciousness slowly faded away, because she was too tired. The struggle against hell, and the suppression of thousands of years, had long since exhausted her body and mind.

And as her consciousness fell asleep, that massive, deformed mass of flesh and blood also quieted down completely, without any further agitation.

And Lynn sat there for a long time, sinking into silence.

And he finally understood.

The pressure she had imposed upon herself was simply not something that could be alleviated by just a few words from him.

Just as he would never truly understand...

What kind of feeling that must be.

Because she was a god!

Even if she knew full well that she had been influenced by that black nightmare, when you open your eyes and find your hands stained with blood, when all the children you once cherished lie fallen before you, and even in death their eyes are filled with nothing but confusion and grief toward you... how could you... how could you...

Lynn took a deep breath.

Raised his head.

Stared at the thick darkness above.

In that moment, it seemed he could once again clearly feel that cold, emotionless gaze. In her slumber, her massive, deformed body had only experienced a brief moment of respite before the fierce, uncontrollable agitation began to brew once more, growing even more enormous, even more twisted.

A new wave of backlash against her had descended.

But Lynn still raised his head, the darkness above reflected in his eyes, as if he were staring down all of hell itself.

From within her sleep, that unconscious, pained voice came once more.

Like a punishment.

A punishment for the sinful.

This ancient, unchanging hell was still following its simplest logic and mechanisms, without making any form of adjustment even in response to the appearance of the Calamity. It did not seek out the true source of the sin, but instead continued to torment those who suffered, just as it always had!

[Warning! Warning! Host must evacuate immediately! The power of the Gaze is intensifying! Remaining here will accelerate the onset of backlash within your body!]

The system's piercing alerts rang out urgently.

And the deformation and twisting of the surrounding flesh and blood tissue was growing increasingly violent.

Those pained, unconscious sounds.

As if even in sleep she was enduring tremendous torment, unable to find peace.

“Let's go! Brain! You can't do anything here! Something seems to have already grown inside your body, and something's wrong with this place! We should get out of here first!”

Zuo Zuo urged him anxiously.

Even she.

Could already sense some abnormal fluctuation brewing in this place.

A new wave of backlash aimed at her was taking shape!

But Lynn still stood there, raising his head, staring at the darkness above.

Then.

He turned his head slightly, his gaze falling sideways upon her, who had already twisted and deformed almost beyond recognition. He said nothing, only lowered his head.

Reached out.

Picked up the blood-stained quill that had fallen to the ground.

“Because no matter what, at least there should be a good dream.”

He picked up the quill, held it in his palm, and walked step by step to the quiet writing desk. He pulled out the chair and sat down squarely in her seat.

So why did she have to suffer?

Not gazing upon the black nightmare in the higher reaches.

But instead casting all that torment upon her, letting her sink into this endless pain... was there never any question of right or wrong in that?

He sat there quietly, his fingers silently spreading out a blank piece of parchment.

Then he raised his head.

As if staring directly into the gaze of hell itself.

So I've always wanted to ask.

Are you afraid?

Is it that you dare not, or do not wish to, or simply cannot.

Cast your so-called backlash upon me?

Are you afraid of the power of that force within my body, afraid to let me share her burden, so you avoid me and instead torment her even more madly, is that it?

If that's the case...

He said nothing, calmly lowering his head.

Gripping the blood-stained quill.

Peacefully, he began to write stroke by stroke upon the blank parchment.

[In my name.]

[I invoke this Authority.]

He turned his eyes slightly, gazing at the ever-growing, churning mass of flesh and blood, gazing at that soul murmuring in its slumber within the pain.

[Now, I formally begin a dialogue with you.]

[I once, with my own blood, voluntarily offered to share all backlash and consequences on her behalf, and begged her to wield this Authority's mighty power for me. Now, I shall repeat it once more.]

[This contract is fulfilled of my own free will, and so I shall invoke this Authority for this purpose. I demand to bear all the Gaze and torment that should have been cast upon her.]

He raised his head, his eyes as calm as a still lake as he gazed toward the heavens above.

Then he wrote the final line.

[Do you dare?]
