Chapter 795: Unable to Enter That Room

  • Next Chapter

Lynn adjusted his monocle, his gaze firm, then carefully took Miss Puppet's hand, pushed open the shattered door, and stepped into the darkness of that corridor.

The room where 002 resided wasn't far from where they were.

All they needed to do was walk to the deepest part of this corridor, take a few turns, and they'd arrive. Lynn was already intimately familiar with this place.

It took only a few minutes.

The two of them and their "dog" pushed open the doors of the Abnormal Creature Center, stepped out from within, and emerged onto the street outside.

They crossed the street in silence.

Soon enough, they returned to the room they had just left not long ago. Pushing open the door, Lynn let out a sigh and smiled:

"Alright, we're here. Miss Puppet, you should get some rest as well. I ought to sleep too—it's been a long time since I've rested, and I'm honestly quite drowsy."

Hei Xianyue nodded without any hint of suspicion, turned around, and prepared to leave.

Lynn rubbed his temples.

He turned around, ready to close the door and climb into bed for some sleep.

But for some reason, he felt like he had forgotten something very important that he was supposed to be doing. Judging by the time, it seemed like he had just woken up, and it felt like he had just gone to the Abnormal Creature Center—but what exactly had he gone there to do?

He didn't dwell on it, though.

Lying on the bed, he closed his eyes, ready to enjoy a good, restful sleep.

"..."

A brief silence.

A gentle breeze blew in through the window, brushing past his cheeks.

And in that very instant, Lynn's eyes snapped open. He abruptly flipped up like a fish leaping, sitting bolt upright with a jolted expression on his face.

Damn it!

Something was wrong!

He remembered now!

Hadn't he just gone to the Abnormal Creature Center? Hadn't he been planning to find that quill and properly understand the backlash issue? How in the world had he somehow, inexplicably, and confusedly ended up back here?!

Lynn's heart gave a violent lurch.

He immediately realized what had happened. Gritting his teeth, he threw off the covers, shoved open the door, and rushed out.

"Miss Puppet! Don't sleep! And besides, what would a puppet like you even need to sleep for?! It's obvious we've been affected by her! Let's go back!"

...

A few minutes later.

Slightly flustered and exasperated, Lynn brought Hei Xianyue with him once again, charging out the door and arriving at the entrance of the Abnormal Creature Center.

This time, Lynn didn't waste any time.

He kicked the door open with one foot.

"Quill! Can you hear me? I have some important things I need to ask you! Are you still in your room?"

Lynn kicked the door open and shouted.

But the interior remained completely silent, with no sound coming from anywhere.

Lynn and Hei Xianyue exchanged a glance, then without any hesitation, they immediately rushed at full speed back into that dark corridor.

And this time, they focused with one hundred twenty percent of their attention.

What had just happened was extremely bizarre.

They hadn't even realized it at all—as if they were marionettes on strings, the moment they stepped into that corridor, they had inexplicably turned around and formed the intention to leave without any reason whatsoever.

Without a doubt.

This was definitely the influence of that quill.

"It's right here."

This time, there were no surprises. Lynn and the others sprinted all the way, soon stopping in front of that old, mottled door marked 【002】.

Lynn's eyes flickered as he said:

"Miss Puppet, wait for me here. I'll go in first to check the situation. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn't just casually write things about me. What happened earlier probably means—just like you said—she really is on the verge of losing control. Wait for me."

Without any hesitation, Lynn pushed open the door.

...

A dozen or so minutes later.

Inside a bathhouse filled with billowing steam, Lynn lounged contentedly in the hot spring pool, his entire body emitting white vapor, holding a cup of thick green beverage in his hand, a look of pure bliss on his face as he thoroughly enjoyed this rare moment of relaxation.

Indeed, taking some time out to soak in a bathhouse hot spring was truly a wonderful thing.

He relaxed in comfort.

Completely failing to notice the surrounding female creatures wrapped in bathrobes, their expressions filled with panic and shock.

"Lynn, wake up!"

"Can you hear me?"

"Something's wrong with you!"

A familiar voice—Miss Puppet's—seemed to reach his ears from somewhere. But how could Miss Puppet's voice be coming from inside a men's bathhouse?

With a blissful expression, Lynn instinctively opened his eyes.

And immediately saw, at the edge of the pool, Hei Xianyue standing steadily on the rim, staring fixedly at him.

Lynn instinctively smiled, reached out from the water, waved, and greeted:

"Miss Puppet, what a coincidence! Are you here to soak too? There's plenty of room on my side—want to join me?"

Hei Xianyue stared at him steadily.

Once again, she felt that hair-raising terror.

"Have you forgotten everything? Have you forgotten what we were just doing?" Hei Xianyue stared at him and asked.

Lynn instinctively stretched lazily and said cheerfully, "Forgotten what? I was just about to..."

"..."

An eerie silence slowly spread through the surroundings.

In an instant, Lynn's smile froze on his face.

Even though he was soaking in warm pool water, his body couldn't help but shiver involuntarily.

He instinctively turned his head.

And saw, all around the pool, various female creatures clutching bathrobes in bewilderment and panic, huddled in corners and staring at him.

"..."

Lynn's smile slowly faded. He stared at Hei Xianyue before him and said:

"What happened to me?"

Hei Xianyue's eyes also locked onto his as she said, "We were at the door of room 002. Just as you were about to push it open, you suddenly ran off without a word. By the time I found you again, you were already here."

Lynn's expression gradually turned serious and grave.

So that meant.

He had once again been interfered with without any warning whatsoever?

Splash—

Under the astonished and shaken gazes of the surrounding female creatures, Lynn stood up with his dead-fish eyes, and amid the splashing water, he stepped onto the edge of the pool, raised his head, and said:

"This is quite troublesome."

And this time, he finally understood why Sir Aiwen had said it would be extremely difficult for them to penetrate deep into the Abnormal Creature Center.

The distance was incredibly close. In fact, from the front entrance to the door of room 002 took less than two minutes.

But under this kind of eerie influence.

It had become nearly an impossible feat.

...

At the entrance of the Abnormal Creature Center.

Lynn and Hei Xianyue arrived here once again, but this time they didn't immediately choose to walk in. Instead, they stared ahead with serious, grave expressions, pondering their strategy.

"From what you're saying, that quill possesses some kind of ability to casually alter other people's fates. Whatever she writes on paper, the person she writes about will follow what she wrote and do exactly that—is that right?"

After listening to Lynn's account, even Hei Xianyue felt a growing sense of dread.

One could even say it was hair-raising terror.

Because if everything he said was true, then this was practically like a god.

It rewrites your fate, yet you remain completely unaware.

You might even believe that all of it was a decision made through your own free will. And indeed, just as Lynn had said—if that quill didn't happen to possess a temperament that was non-aggressive and non-violent, then with this kind of terrifying manipulative power.

She would absolutely be able to become a taboo existence within this hell!

Lynn pinched his monocle, his expression serious as he said, "We can't just leave this alone. Although there's a high chance she won't actually write any bloody or violent plotlines, if the backlash truly is causing her to spiral into madness, then we can't rule out the possibility of further deterioration. I have to meet her."

Hei Xianyue glanced at him from the side and asked, "What do you plan to do?"

Because those two incidents that had just occurred had already proven to him that under this nearly god-like authority, as long as she willed it, virtually no one could step into that room.

And those two times had only made them leave unconsciously.

But if she were to go a step further and write some kind of depraved plotline, it would likely truly inflict countless unimaginable consequences upon them.

Lynn said deeply, "There's no great solution. I can only risk myself again. But don't worry! It's just a trip to the women's bathhouse—I can live with that. After all, no matter how outrageous things get, it's still better than waking up to find the two of us naked and clinging to each other, making out. So everything's still fine."

Hei Xianyue was jolted.

Then she turned a murderous glare toward the man beside her, her eyes practically capable of killing.

"You seem to be looking forward to something like that happening?"

Lynn blinked in confusion and said, "Am I? No, not at all! I just casually mentioned one possibility. How could I possibly look forward to it? Miss Puppet, please don't say such strange things!"

He put on the expression of an innocent, pure-hearted young man—bewildered and dumbfounded.

Hei Xianyue forced herself to close her eyes.

But her clenched fists, creaking audibly.

Still made her current state of mind abundantly clear.

Without a doubt, this guy seemed to be harboring some malicious intentions, looking for a way to shirk responsibility by trying to remind that quill to write some kind of degenerate plotline for him.

This guy's brain had long since gone rotten!

Hei Xianyue returned to her calm, composed expression, resolved to stop paying him any kind of attention whatsoever. If she said even one more word to him, she'd consider herself the loser.

Lynn laughed comically, pinched his monocle, and said:

"Alright, alright, jokes aside. I actually have thought of a way. If she really is currently acting purely on instinct, scribbling whatever comes to mind, then she probably won't chase away another form of me. Because..."

Accompanied by a flash of mimicry's silvery light.

By the time Hei Xianyue turned her head, she found to her astonishment that as the white light receded, Lynn had transformed into a black cat.

He slowly crawled out from his clothes, picked up the monocle and put it on, then said mysteriously:

"She once wrote a line—no matter when, her love for cats has always remained unchanging."
