Creepy Pharmacist: All my patients are scary!
Chapter 716: A New Origin Is Born
That ripping, trembling scream drove them into hysteria, teeth clenched as they madly surged toward that direction without regard for anything.
Amid the chaotic energy onslaught, Sir Aiwen’s eyes were full of turmoil. He gritted his teeth, and at that moment he almost lost every ounce of hesitation, almost ready to tear every binding from his body, let the curse run riot within him, let his memories be utterly erased, if only to return to the pinnacle of his combat power!
No!
He cannot die!
Even if the curse renders him unkillable, what he had endured for the sake of the Colossus's Brain was still one of the most terrifying blows delivered by the three supreme Roots!
If he truly died, if he were to fall in this upheaval, then they would spark an ultimate cataclysm in this Dark World and make them all pay in blood!
“Lynn!!”
The distant, frantic call seemed to hang in his ears.
But all he heard was a series of intense, sharp metallic wails, resonating in his ears for a long time.
His vision seemed stained red by blood and blurred. His right eye.
Piece after piece of fragments kept falling away.
Then, like glass, the moment the fractures spread, it shattered with a crashing sound from his eye socket.
And at the moment of that shattering, the enormous, battered head that he had become finally began to compress and contort, once again reverting into his bloody body.
“So this really is the last time...”
Amid the turmoil of blood mist and dust, he painfully hauled himself up from the ground.
Step by step he walked toward the massive Colossus's Brain before him.
Step by step he withered.
A long trail of blood dragged behind him.
“I paid such a heavy price to save you...”
He panted, head bowed, his blood-smeared hand pressed hard onto the Colossus's Brain’s vast flesh and blood.
“You ought to give me some return, at least.”
His vision blurred.
All he could see were the Colossus’s severed limbs and blood everywhere.
The corner of Lynn’s downturned mouth finally tore into a bloody arc.
“But no matter what...”
“I once again ruined their plan, and that still gives me... a strange kind of joy!”
And in that instant, the Mimicry light on his bloodied hand flowed like mercury, spreading across the entire Colossus's Brain.
In the Colossus's mental space, in that darkness swathed by curses, the silver gleam of Curse Purge simultaneously blossomed into an exquisitely dazzling bud in his clenched hand.
Though he kept reminding himself, kept telling himself...
Everything was done with a utilitarian purpose.
Everything was to wrench greater benefits from the Colossus's Brain.
That was why he acted.
People, as they grow, tend to view so-called kindness, compassion, rescue, and selflessness as youthful folly, signs of immaturity.
Adults, after all,
wouldn’t truly throw themselves into helping a stranger without weighing the losses they might suffer.
Such actions are usually called “stupid,” because nobody can make sense of the point—what does it bring you? If you stake your life on it, is it worth it?
He had asked himself this question before.
He had wondered whether, if he could return to that Happy Home and again face the decision to risk his life to save that child from that wretched fate...
Would he still recklessly act the same way?
He thought he would not.
He had too many concerns.
But now, suddenly, he understood. Perhaps... he still would make that same choice.
Because he had neglected one thing.
When a person always thinks rationally, they first weigh gains and losses.
But people are people precisely because they are never entirely rational.
Only after the halo of reason fades do the good and evil in your heart reveal your truest answer!
In an instant,
from Lynn’s torn, blood-red eyes, a piercing silver light burst from outside in, completely shrouding the Colossus's Brain.
A long howl, swallowed by the light,
pierced the dust, and under the turbulent black mist it became a sky-covering silver flash!
Everyone trembled as they watched.
The auras of Mimicry and Curse Purge spread fully across that silver light curtain, and Lynn finally exhausted all his strength and spirit. His vision blurred more and more, and that bloodied hand slowly dropped limp.
He didn’t know if he had succeeded.
But he had done everything he could.
A limited-duration Curse Purge could at least relieve a quarter of the oppressive weight brought by the curse upon It, allowing It to adapt and awaken.
Mimicry’s effect could also give It a new body in this reality, one capable of fighting.
Has It awakened?
Temporarily forget the disastrous consequences brought by failure...
Because people do not always stare forward endlessly...
Even if you are the Colossus's Brain, the king of the Colossus, you should be strong...
Dazed, Lynn collapsed backward from exhaustion. His blood-stained eyelids fell, and through that hazy silver light he vaguely saw silver eyes slowly opening, a pale face, and slender hands reaching toward him with effort.
He vaguely felt the wrist being tightly grasped.
As if, in that realm of consciousness,
it was the same.
In despair and deathly silence... the only thing that can offer you trust.
In an instant,
all living beings present saw the crimson radiance shoot up from the silver light curtain and felt the feral Root aura, rife with wild curse fluctuations.
All the Roots trembled at that moment. Gazing at that brilliant light, they realized—
Too late.
Everything was finally too late.
They all understood that the Colossus's Brain had completely fallen out of the category of gods and become, like them, a Root bound by curse.
It had turned into a walking corpse in hell, becoming a slave to the curse...
A new Root...
was born.
...
In the piercing silver glow, that slender hand at last grabbed Lynn’s wrist, and his drifting body did not truly collapse.
Only vaguely and hazily, he felt that hand reach toward his chest.
He heard a low voice.
“So this is what you meant by... gentle consideration?”
And as that voice came, Lynn knew that everything he had done had produced the correct outcome.
Nothing had been in vain.
Just as when you give someone your trust without reservation, you very likely win their true heart in return.
Slowly,
he felt that hand touching his chest.
Then, gradually, he began to feel a heartbeat.
He felt the flesh within his chest stir, felt the hand bestow upon him, and felt that incredibly familiar heart beating.
“You really are a treacherous fellow.”
