Chapter 1533: Chapter 36: Blitz (19)
The mountains stretched endlessly, and within the valleys, the long lines of Suss Mecha marched grandly forward.
The sky had already darkened, nightfall arrived, and the beams of the mech squad’s searchlights scattered wildly as the mechas ran. The enormous engine roars and the heavy footsteps startled the beasts and birds in the mountains and forests into fleeing.
"Faster, faster!"
The officers were desperately urging them on.
All the mechas pushed their speed to the limit. At this point, they couldn’t care about the noise anymore; the squad hadn’t engaged stealth mode at all along the way!
"Commander, our vanguard is 20 kilometers from 49 Peak, expected to reach No.1 Hill within 15 minutes."
"Commander, the 2111 Division’s regiment commander reports that the regiment is currently advancing to First-tier Sky Canyon, nine kilometers southwest of 49 Peak, and establishing a defensive line. All officers and soldiers are united in their determination to complete the task of blocking the enemy’s main force. Please rest assured, Commander."
Upon hearing the staff officer’s report, Peterlov, Commander of the Suss 21st Army Group, shifted his gaze from the map. After sitting quietly for a moment, the nearly fifty-year-old middle-aged Admiral raised his square face, covered with a thick brown-yellow beard, and nodded with satisfaction.
Despite rushing, the 21st Army Group still managed to get ahead of the enemy!
He stood up, signaling the staff officer to open the top hatch of the Command Mecha. Following the ladder, he ascended to the observation deck.
The massive Command Mecha was running at high speed. Engines roared, and the mecha’s suspension rose and fell with the movement of its six mechanical legs.
Gazing into the distance, the cool evening air hit his face. In the distance, layers upon layers of mountain ranges unfolded, while the ancient trees and vines of the nearby forests sped backward, and in the rush of wind and electricity, a surge of boldness aimed at the enemy’s formation burst forth!
Peterlov slammed the railing hard, a cold smile playing on his lips.
He admitted that a few hours ago, while commanding the troops to attack the Fei Alliance’s defensive line, upon receiving news that the enemy appeared on the flank of the Jiepeng 25th Army Group, his whole body broke out in a cold sweat.
He never imagined that just when Marshal Bellif’s battle plan was nearing success, a Fei Alliance armored force would cross multiple battle zones and appear on the flank of the Jiepeng 25th Army Group’s defensive area!
Even an idiot could see the inherent danger.
From his location in the Charloks Main Battle Zone to the second attack point of this campaign, the Frenso Battlefield, the Six Major Battlezones were closely linked. There was no way the Fei Alliance Joint Army could slip through any gaps.
Unless they defeated the local forces at Frenso Town and consecutively overcame the battlezones of Saint John Town, Beiqi Mountain, and Billy Town!
This thought sent a chill down his spine.
He repeatedly conducted simulations, unwilling to believe it was true. But everything on the combat map told him that not only did the enemy do just that, but they accomplished the counterattack at Frenso Town and swept forward in less than twenty hours.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, he immediately ordered the troops to assemble and head for 49 Peak.
The troops stationed in various field bases gathered immediately, while logistics and other units that were unable to gather promptly were left behind—whoever could set out did so.
One could say that from receiving the news to the troops setting out, not a second was wasted!
On the way, not knowing the combat situation of the Jiepeng 25th Army Group, his heart was in his throat. He knew that if the enemy seized 49 Peak first, the main force of the Northern Cluster in Sunset Mountain would face complete destruction!
Informing Bellif and expecting headquarters to respond was already too late.
The only hope was that his Suss 21st Army Group and the Jiepeng 25th Army Group could complete the task of stopping the enemy, allowing Bellif’s battle plan to be perfectly executed, and clutching the impending victory firmly!
The communication team sent by Bellif’s headquarters, which delivered the message, left just when the Jiepeng 25th Army Group had just encountered an attack. Therefore, he didn’t know how the Jiepeng people were faring.
The lousy SkyNet system couldn’t support him in obtaining more distant information.
And based on the current enemy intelligence gathered by reconnaissance units, it was clear that the Jiepeng people couldn’t stop this lightning-fast Fei Alliance unit, not even for a moment.
Thinking of this, Peterlov smiled disdainfully and lit a cigarette... it was all no longer important! What mattered was that he had finally gotten ahead of the Fei Alliance armored units!
Now, based on the information from the reconnaissance soldiers sent south by the regiment of the 2111 Division stationed at 49 Peak, they hadn’t found any signs of the Fei Alliance Army’s appearance.
That means they are at least five minutes ahead of the enemy. Plus, there’s a regiment in First-tier Sky Canyon responsible for blocking the enemy. The main force can reach 49 Peak ahead of the Fei Alliance, calmly blocking the enemy’s northward advance.
The enemy crafted a genius battle plan, an astonishing blitzkrieg, and they almost succeeded.
Unfortunately, their good luck ends here!
Watching the ember from the cigarette quickly flying backwards and then disappearing, Peterlov suddenly wanted to see Beize Xian’s expression after this battle.
Although they were both part of the Allies, Suss and Jiepeng never really trusted each other. These two ambitious neighboring countries worried about each other more than they did the sluggish democratic states of the Fei Alliance.
