Chapter 243: Chapter 240: Catching a Turtle in a Jar

"Someone’s coming!" Chen Xing warned.

Song Yiguo pressed a hand to his forehead as he stood up, looking utterly exhausted.

His mind was blank, completely devoid of ideas, so he could only ask Chen Xing, "What do we do now?" Normally, he would have thrown a problem like this to Vice General Du.

Chen Xing: "..."

’They’re here to kill *him*, and he’s asking *me* what to do?’

After a moment’s thought, she said, "How about we fight our way out of here?"

A lot of people knew he was staying here.

Even if they managed to fight off this wave, there was no guarantee another group wouldn’t follow.

Ever since General Song’s death, many people had been eyeing the Song Family like a pack of wolves, all wanting to snatch a piece of that prize meat.

Especially now, with Song Yiguo having made a rare trip out of the Capital City, many people couldn’t hold themselves back any longer.

Song Yiguo had no other ideas, so he agreed and walked over to open the door.

The Superpower Users at the door, still unaware of the approaching danger, straightened up when they saw Song Yiguo emerge, waiting for his command.

Song Yiguo glanced down the hallway, then toward the stairwell.

The Superpower Users immediately understood his meaning and all began to tensely gather their superpowers.

They had been careless when they were taken down before.

With Vice General Du and Yan Junxi both missing, they couldn’t afford another mistake.

Chen Xing shouldered her usual backpack, and with Meng Hu in tow, followed Song Yiguo out.

Just as they stepped out, they saw someone at the stairwell poke their head out to look at them.

Both sides moved at almost the exact same instant.

They were all Superpower Users; there was no need to get close to be dangerous.

In an instant, the hallway erupted in chaos as superpowers flew back and forth.

The Superpower Users hiding in the next room planned to use the chaos to attack from behind.

The moment they opened their door, they saw a large tiger staring right at them.

Although they had been prepared for it, they couldn’t help but jump in fright.

Meng Hu leaped forward, directly biting through the wrist of the Superpower User in front and blocking the doorway.

Under the protection of his Superpower Users, Song Yiguo entered the elevator with Chen Xing.

The Superpower Users in the stairwell quickly began chasing them down the stairs.

In a flash, only Meng Hu was left in the entire hallway.

Seeing the commotion outside had died down, the Superpower Users trapped in the room immediately launched an attack on Meng Hu.

With a WHOOSH, Meng Hu darted out the door and ran down the stairs.

Song Yiguo’s room wasn’t on a high floor, so the elevator quickly reached the ground floor.

As the doors opened, they saw the hotel lobby crowded with people.

Before the doors could even fully open, Chen Xing frantically slammed the "close door" button and also pressed the button for the third basement level.

’Fuck!’

She felt like she had made the wrong choice.

She had originally followed Song Yiguo to avoid getting entangled with the Li Family, but now, it was obvious that Song Yiguo was the real target—the center of all the firepower.

’If I had chosen the Li Family, I might be comfortably lying in bed right now.’

Fortunately, the people in the lobby had their attention drawn to the stairwell. By the time they noticed the people in the elevator, it was already descending safely.

Everyone instantly swarmed the stairwell and ran toward the basement levels.

Meng Hu was now caught in a pincer attack.

There were Superpower Users below and more chasing from above.

Chen Xing told it to hide on the third floor for a bit.

She and Song Yiguo arrived at the third basement level with their Superpower Users.

"I’ll clear the exit, you guys find a car!" Chen Xing shouted as she ran toward the exit.

Song Yiguo and his Superpower Users found where they had parked their car, but it was already gone.

By now, the Superpower Users from upstairs had caught up and were spreading out to search for them.

With no other choice, they could only run toward the exit.

Things weren’t looking too good on Chen Xing’s end either.

The exit leading to the level above was sealed shut, and it seemed like quite a few people were on the other side.

It felt like they were completely cornered.

’We’ll just have to fight as far as we can get!’

Chen Xing turned back to look for Song Yiguo, only to see him and his group running toward her.

’Great.’

’The car is definitely gone!’

Chen Xing spotted a medium-sized van parked nearby that looked like it could squeeze their whole group in. She went to the driver’s seat and hotwired it in a few seconds.

At that moment, the pursuing Superpower Users caught up. Standing at a distance, they were about to open fire.

Chen Xing grabbed one of his men to drive while she ran to the roll-up door. "Drive out fast! I have a way to get out!" After shouting, she forcefully pried open the locked door.

The van instantly shot forward, running over the Superpower Users who had been guarding the other side.

Chen Xing sprinted after the van, then used a running start to leap over the heads of the Superpower Users.

Song Yiguo, showing a decent sense of loyalty, slowed the van down when he saw Chen Xing had broken through.

Once Chen Xing was in, they quickly sped up to the second basement level.

However, this time, the enemy’s setup was meticulous.

The exits from the second and first basement levels also had their roll-up doors lowered.

Ramming it directly wasn’t a good idea; the van might not be able to take the impact.

The Superpower Users behind the roll-up door received a tip from below, learning that Chen Xing had used brute force to open the door before the van charged through.

Therefore... they had already placed tire spikes at the entrance.

But... the van had just been right in front of the door a moment ago. Why was there no sound now?

Two minutes later, sensing something was wrong, the Superpower Users opened the door.

But there was no one behind it, only a dilapidated old van parked there forlornly.

Chen Xing realized driving out would be difficult, so she immediately changed tactics. They decided to return to the lobby and exit through the main entrance.

The Superpower Users who were in the lobby earlier had been lured into the basement, making it safer upstairs.

Sure enough, they brazenly took the elevator back up.

Only a small group of Superpower Users was left guarding the main entrance in the lobby.

Song Yiguo’s Superpower Team easily took them down, and Meng Hu received the command to come down and regroup.

On the long, dark street, a strong wind suddenly picked up. It seemed the temperature was about to drop again.

Song Yiguo’s Superpower Users quickly fanned out to find a vehicle, while Chen Xing and Song Yiguo ran toward the building across the street.

It was a five-story mall with its main entrance sealed shut. However, the windows on the upper floors were all broken. The few intact panes were covered in a thick layer of dust, suggesting no one had been inside for a very long time.

To avoid making any noise, the two of them ran around to the back of the mall and entered through a broken second-floor window.

Meng Hu was left to roam freely outside for now.

After entering the dilapidated mall, Chen Xing and Song Yiguo ran quietly toward the other side.

Looking out the window toward the hotel, they saw numerous Superpower Users charging out of the main entrance and spreading out in all directions.

Before long, the scattered individuals received some kind of order and began to regroup.

Just then, Chen Xing noticed a surveillance camera in the middle of the road. "They must have seen us run in here!" She had already signaled for Meng Hu to hide.

Song Yiguo began to get nervous too.

It was just the two of them here. If the enemy forced their way in, did they even stand a chance?

The number of people downstairs was impossible to count; they had the entire area completely sealed off.

Even if they hid, it was only a matter of time before they were found.

As if to make their desperate situation even worse, it began to snow.

The temperature, which had only dropped a little earlier, was now plummeting at a physically tangible rate.
