Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]
Chapter 432: Kisses For Breakfast, Bullets… For Dinner???
[FROLO]
"You have five hours. If at the end of five hours you don’t have evidence that my omega was the one in the video, I’ll start killing soldiers for wasting my omega’s research time," Sergei said to the president, who was walking him out of the palace.
It was diabolical, really, seeing as Sergei was accused of having been in the video too, but the government had not gone after Sergei.
Instead, they had gone after Katya, as if that was supposed to keep the alpha busy.
Distracted.
Easy to control, given Sergei was a newly marked alpha whose main objective was always going to be protecting his omega. And they had counted on the mark on Sergei’s neck to control him.
Only they didn’t expect that Sergei Moskowsky could be the menace who yapped about being marked the entire night and who would murder someone for trying to shoot at Katya at the same time.
And worse, now they were being given five hours.
That too after Sergei had said he trusted the law.
It was not what they interacted with daily, but who the fuck knew what to expect from Sergei Moskowsky anyway?
"Research?" President Boris dared to ask, not sure even why he had tried to get into small talk with the man who was his greatest problem right now. This man was the menace who gave him sleepless nights.
Sergei remained scary and dangerous, yet no one had the guts to lay a hand on him because Sergei had systems that worked whether he was alive or he would be dead.
Especially since his son had already warned the city against trying to mess with his father.
"Yes. My Solnyshka loves doing research and data analysis. It’s the reason why he resigned from being chairman of Moskowsky Group. I want to make him happy always. So for your sake..." Sergei trailed off.
The president’s breathing changed.
Sergei noticed.
But he didn’t care.
He never would.
"Mr. Moskowsky..." President Boris spoke, like a man who was hoping to say something to change the madman’s mind.
"I won’t stop, Boris. You knew what you were getting into coming after what is mine without evidence. I wouldn’t have cared if you talked shit about me.
"Hell, I would be glad to hear there is someone out there without brains still counting on my chaos," Sergei said calmly as they kept walking.
"We didn—"
"He was doing his job. Working and contributing to your ridiculous tax rates. He was a normal citizen. His family obeyed the law. My Solnyshka never had an altercation with the law.
"He has good conduct through and through... Then you targeted him... without evidence. Dragged his reputation through the mud. Made him look like just another omega meant to be bred and left brainless.
"Surely you understand why I am not going to compromise, no?" Sergei said, like this was just a normal discussion and not him telling the president that he wasn’t going to forgive them for what they were doing to Katya.
That he would burn it all to the ground if that was what it took.
That he would make sure Katya never suffered because of them again.
And deep down, Sergei knew he would burn the realm.
It was the only way to make sure no one tried to hurt his Solnyshka again.
They could always rebuild, but stress was where he drew the line for the love of his life. Because Katya didn’t deserve such cruelty. He didn’t deserve to be treated like he was the worst of the worst.
Sergei was not going to hold back.
"We are just following procedure," President Boris said, and to that Sergei chuckled.
"Procedure, huh? My Solnyshka is known for his kindness. It’s not even an exaggeration. The entire city has seen the same characteristics in the man for over twenty years, and suddenly he is a terrorist?
"You ruined his reputation. You hurt all his hard work. He didn’t do a thing, and you still reduced him to just an omega. Your minion went to the station questioning whether my Solnyshka had a choice;
"... whether the love of my life chose me willingly and not because of my power. Whether the one person I would die a thousand times for was really choosing me because I happened to be his alpha, and omegas and betas leaned to their alphas casually, and it was normal.
"You all made him into something that he was, is not, and will never be. And you can’t take it back," Sergei said, his voice pained, like the sight of Katya in cuffs would forever haunt him to the afterlife.
Like the fact that his beloved had been taken off like that was never going to make things better for Katya. That things would never truly be the same for Katya.
Boris stared at Sergei, his heart in his stomach as he slowly saw Sergei differently.
This was not the mindless beast everyone knew.
This was someone else.
This was the man Katya loved.
And for some reason, it just unlocked another version of Sergei the realm was bound to be terrified of.
Still, Sergei continued.
"Even if you clear my Solnyshka’s name. Even if you prove that he is innocent, that stain on his reputation won’t go away. No matter how hard you try to clean it up, it won’t.
"Because the city will remember my beloved as the man who was accused of terrorism once. They won’t remember the beautiful boy who smiled with his eyes more often than not, regardless of where he found himself.
"They won’t remember the sweet omega whose kindness could have changed the world. They won’t remember the Romanov omega who chose peace even when we had enough reasons to burn the realm down.
"They will remember him now as Katya, Sergei’s mate," Sergei scoffed at the last bit, like that was the most painful thing he had gotten to learn since the chaos revolving around Katya had begun.
There had been so many changes along the way, but none hurt more than that identity change that Katya had gotten. And for Sergei it was worse than being skinned alive.
"We didn’t—" Boris tried, his voice finding him shaking as he struggled to make a reasonable argument.
When in truth, even the president knew Sergei was right.
Some lines had been crossed and could not be uncrossed, even with exertion of force.
And Sergei...
"I used to dream of days when my Solnyshka would be associated with me publicly. When the realm would know that I was worthy of his love. But now... you all ruined it.
"Because as much as hearing him be called Sergei’s mate should make me happy, as much as hearing he is my beloved is supposed to put me at ease, it doesn’t.
"Because they won’t be saying Katya, Sergei’s mate, with the kindness he deserves. They will be linking him to the barbarian who murdered in his name. They will be categorizing him in the same cruelty bracket as me.
"The pretty boy who refuses to pick up a weapon even when he is the one hurt is now placed in the same category as me, the criminal devil with anger issues who will kill you before hearing what you have to say.
"THAT is what you turned my beloved into, Boris. That is why I will not forgive you and your government. That is why I am going to come after you, and your family and everyone you love.
"I’m telling you this soon so you know. That there was a time when Katya Romanov chose peace and surrender, and the government tried to kill him. Twice. So prepare well, Boris.
"Because even if my sweet, kind, beautiful Solnyshka asks for mercy and forgiveness on your behalf, that is one I unfortunately won’t be able to grant him. I am coming for you and your government... I shall go home now," Sergei said when they reached the gates.
He even waved goodbye to the president before walking away, the empty hotpot in his hand, like he hadn’t left behind a traumatized government official.
An official who wasn’t sure whether they needed to leave Frolo or hope Sergei changed his mind about mercy.
But Sergei had told him openly.
With his mouth, not hearsay.
While they were walking calmly, not even when he was shouting.
Sergei was coming.
Not Sergei Moskowsky, Yaroslav’s dad, who had an empire and an insane reputation, no.
Sergei, the devil of Frolo, who still haunted the underworld and normal Frolo to this day
And Boris, for all he had learned about Sergei...
For all he knew about the man before the Moskowsky name...
Knew they were screwed in all ways to hell.
Still, they had to try and fight, right?
