[FROLO]

The city was spiraling.

The reveal about Katya’s bond and Sergei was taking a much different direction. The obsession was clearly unhealthy as gossip mills dove into every little thing that Sergei had ever done around Katya. And the dots were connecting a little too fast.

First were the earnest smiles that Sergei gave Katya after the separation from Yaroslav. The way the alpha had done everything to make Katya comfortable.

How Sergei had made drastic decisions in the moment just because Katya Romanov was involved. The way things had changed indirectly for the city even then. The way Sergei’s murders had slowed in the time since he met Katya.

The city was stuck between Katya being good for Sergei and Katya being the only reason Sergei had stopped his endless murder sprees. Honestly, it would have been easy and simple like that.

If Aleksandr hadn’t released the footage of Sergei Moskowsky murdering anyone who came at him.

Alek hadn’t even bothered to edit out the katanas, let alone the conversation that Sergei had with Gregorio. It was almost diabolical because what the fuck was he even thinking?

By lunch hour, the gossip mills had curved into a whole different shape.

The jealousy of whoever had sent the CCTV footage.

The danger that was Sergei Moskowsky.

The whipped devil who only began hurting his attackers because they wrinkled his shirt without thinking of safety anymore.

And even worse, the man who absolutely did not understand relationships and was jealous of a man called Greg in Romanov Steel.

It was something that no one in Frolo had thought they’d ever get to see. And the fact that they watched the ten-minute-long footage made it even more hilarious.

And soon the Katserg hashtag was trending again.

"Find you a man that loves you like Sergei Moskowsky loves Katya Romanov."

"The devil who only cares about what his omega thinks."

"The most dangerous man being bested by a man called Greg."

"I will kill you later, but first please help me with relationship advice: Sergei Moskowsky’s dilemma."

It was an entire circus that made no sense yet made absolutely so much sense.

And the face that Sergei had made when the Bratva men had taken a swipe at his shirt soon became a tool for laughter in the social spaces.

A mad man who was put off because someone ruined the shirt this omega had ironed for him.

The city was witnessing in real time as Katya Romanov became the most dangerous person in the realm. This time they didn’t even need rumors to make them try and manipulate or translate the situation however they wanted.

It was all right there.

Sergei Moskowsky, the devil of Frolo, or rather, Sergei Moskowsky, the man who fell madly in love and became a husband even before he got married.

And soon comparisons were made.

Between how Sergei had loved Vitya Moskowsky.

And how he was loving Katya Romanov.

It was all the same.

The alpha was loud and proud in his affection. Showing off his beloved like life didn’t matter without his beloved. He was whipped, and he wasn’t even hiding it.

And many people were confused.

Because it was honestly hard to even gauge that Sergei Moskowsky was the same man they had seen in the last ten minutes of that footage.

It was ridiculous.

Cute.

Insane still.

And the city couldn’t decide which side to take.

Because while they had seen raw footage of Sergei murdering people like they were nothing, everyone was slowly leaning toward the shock of how much Katya Romanov was loved by Sergei Moskowsky.

The alpha was whipped down bad for his omega.

Meanwhile, in Romanov Steel, Katya wanted to disappear.

His research partner, who had just realized he was probably the luckiest unlucky person in the realm, sat stiffly in his chair as the video played of Sergei asking Gregorio for relationship advice.

This was not what either of them had subscribed to when they clocked in to work today. And frankly, it was borderline unhinged.

Because now the entire company knew that Sergei wanted to kill Greg, but could not kill Greg because Katya would be pissed at him.

And he didn’t want to lose Katya, so he had to find a way to accommodate and accept that Greg was always going to be part of Katya’s life.

"The devil of Frolo is so in love," the employees whispered.

And others...

"Finally, he gets someone who loves him right. After everything else, what Katya deserves is someone who isn’t ashamed of him, and is devoted to him."

"The worst devil paired with one of the kindest souls in Frolo. Maybe the world is healing after all."

Katya wanted to smile at that because, honestly, it was almost the truth. Almost because Katya knew Sergei wasn’t so bad.

That Sergei was kind too, loving, and adorable sometimes.

The man he had fallen in love with wasn’t the devil, but the man who ate breakfast with him like it was routine, when Katya knew Sergei was doing it because he wanted to spend more time together before starting their day.

It was something that Katya had loved so much because even today, Sergei had made breakfast at the old Romanov.

His boyfriend was a good person, and Katya Romanov would defend his Vladimir.

Maybe after his embarrassment was over, because everyone was whispering around him about Greg and Sergei and him.

"At least he won’t kill you?" Katya whispered to Greg, who wanted to change continents too. He looked like he needed to make a run for it. Change his name from Greg to something that Sergei didn’t even know about.

But would it even be worth it when Sergei probably already did his background check and knew even where Greg kept his spoons?

"Very comforting indeed," Greg said, laughing defeatedly. Because what the fuck could he do? Whine about Sergei Moskowsky putting him on a non-kill list just because Katya would be angry if Sergei went after Greg?

Stare and be good when he knew damn well that their supervisor had been punched in the nose by Sergei weeks ago because he had touched Katya’s waist?

"I... I’ll teach him how to express himself well. Trust me, he didn’t mean it in the wrong way. He’s just... My Vladimir has a hard time communicating, and the few times he does well, he ends up diarrhearing from his mouth," Katya explained to Greg.

Greg stared at Katya.

Really stared because he could not believe that there would come a day when anyone in their right mind would ever look at Sergei Moskowsky and be like, yeah, he’s just terrible at communicating.

What the fuck had he subscribed to?

"Katya..."

"What he meant in that video is that he doesn’t know how to deal with me having an alpha research partner that I trust. That’s what he meant. Well, he did put it in murder language. But he won’t kill you," Katya explained.

Greg still stared, too shocked to even form a coherent sentence.

"We have a late lunch at four o’clock today; would you be okay joining us? I’ll choose a public place, and Vladimir won’t hurt you. You’ll see," Katya added, and Greg wasn’t even sure he had a choice anymore.

So, he just nodded wordlessly before they got back to work.

A date with Sergei Moskowsky.

Yeah, he was fucked.

Across the city, a tablet was smashed against the wall.

"What the fuck is wrong with everyone in this goddamn city?!" Alek boomed.
