Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]
Chapter 317: Where The Sinner’s Blade Hesitates
[KUMARIN BRATVA]
Aleksandr had managed to find his way back to the Kumarin HQ. He’d called Kenzo, and the man had sent Tom’s people to help him home, if that was the place he’d ever consider home anymore.
His wounds were still fresh, but given his alpha abilities, he would be healed in a few hours, which was the only upside to the unhinged moron stabbing him.
"Who did that to you?" Kenzo had asked, and Alek had shrugged.
He’d not dropped names, almost like he didn’t want trouble.
Or maybe because for the first time, he felt like an ass for what he had done out there. And then Katya called him, and he’d run his mouth like an undiagnosed patient.
He hadn’t intended to be that angry, yet Katya had told him he wanted to break up, and of course, Alek didn’t like it.
He’d approached the fucking bratva because he was in love with Katya Romanov.
He’d lost his career because of Katya Romanov, yet now the omega was suddenly up and done with him because of one statement he had made?
Alek didn’t like it.
And he’d blabbered.
A little too much.
"Get some rest, man. I’ll let Kenzo know about your status," the bratva doctor said to him before the man walked out.
"Argh, why did I say that to him? Shit!" Alek sighed in shame, his words to Katya haunting him.
He knew it wasn’t fair.
He knew Katya hadn’t slept with Sergei Moskowsky. It was obvious because Katya was the kind of person who loved one soul at a time.
If Katya had slept with Sergei, Sergei would have been overly possessive and way too obsessed with Katya. Alek knew it because he knew what life around Sergei Moskowsky looked like.
The man who had identified himself as Vitya’s boyfriend during the days he’d been courting Vitya had definitely not toned down, especially where Katya was involved.
And Alek wished he could call back and apologize.
But he’d been apologizing a little too much lately. It wasn’t even a surprise THAT Katya didn’t trust him anymore. He’d fucked up more than once, and now he’d gone from the man Katya loved to the man Katya never wanted to see again.
All because he couldn’t control his jealousy.
Fuck.
"Should I text him?" Alek mumbled as he stared at Katya’s contact on his phone. He didn’t have the right to. Not anymore. But he still needed to explain.
But what was there to explain when he’d basically called Katya a trophy boy for the Moskowsky family?
"I don’t know, Aleksandr... Should you?" an awfully familiar voice spoke, and for a moment, Alek thought he was hallucinating.
But was he?
"No way. He can’t be here," Alek grumbled as he stared at the shadow beside the closet.
Maybe it was his recent trauma making him delusional. That was the only valid explanation because, for the life of him, he didn’t see a thing to be worried about.
He was inside the Kumarin bratva headquarters. This place was literally crawling with so much security.
Alek was safe, and he was just overthinking.
"Can’t I?" the familiar figure stepped from beside the closet, and Alek froze.
"What?"
"You know... My dad is the bastard of bastards, but even he taught me to respect relationships. He’d kill me if he ever heard me call someone who broke up with me a slut just because they rejected me," the shadow said.
Alek began shaking as the shadow advanced closer.
He was real.
He was here.
This wasn’t a hallucination, the fuck?
"Impossible. You’re not supposed to be here. How did you get in?" Alek asked as if that was the only option for him. Like it was the only way to understand whatever the fuck was going on right now.
"I’m a Moskowsky, Petrov. Being where I’m not supposed to be is my core programming."
"Y... Yaroslav..." Alek breathed, pushing himself further from where Yaroslav was. He didn’t want to be in the same space as the man, but fuck, what the hell?
"So... Pathetic omega, huh?" Yaroslav asked, playing with his twin blades casually like life was slowly starting to make sense.
It had been a week since Aleksandr had seen Yaroslav, and the man seemed to have changed so much. He didn’t look as composed anymore.
And his black clothes were covered in blood, probably from those who tried to keep him from getting to this point. Even his face had blood drops, and he was just standing there with a hoodie over his head like life was simple and so damn beautiful.
"Your father married your ex-husband," Alek said, trying to reason with Yaroslav, who was still staring at him like a predator.
"Yes, he did," Yaroslav acknowledged with so much ease.
It was impossible to tell that he was still angry with his father for that and needed an explanation, but he still had to protect Katya’s reputation because he would die before he let someone slander the man he was in love with, even to this very day.
"Doesn’t that piss you off?" Alek asked, and Yaroslav just laughed.
"You made him trust you," Yaroslav said, playing with his blades.
"Your father even orchestrated both of your divorce," Aleksandr said instead.
"He loved you with all his heart..."
"Sergei probably orchestrated your divorce so he could marry your husband..."
"You broke his heart, and made him cry..."
"You did the same, too, remember?"
"I thought I was making him happy with that choice. It wasn’t supposed to last that long. And yes, I did break his heart and make him cry, but I didn’t ever use his lowest moments for PR..."
"I just wanted to know where your father was hiding him."
"If he loved my father back like you all seem to think my father is in love with him, do you really think father would stay on the down-low?" Yaroslav asked like he was disappointed in the senator’s detective skills.
He couldn’t believe that once upon a time, this was the man whom the people of Frolo had trusted wholeheartedly.
"What does that mean?" Alek asked like he was suddenly getting a new perspective of what the truth could possibly have been. Hell, he could feel his stitches reopening, and it wasn’t good, given the fact THAT Yaroslav was here with his twin blades.
What kind of date was this?
"Sergei Moskowsky doesn’t know how to love quietly, Aleksandr. My papa was proof of it all. Remember him? Vitya Moskowsky Gamov? My father’s greatest love?" Yaroslav said as he closed the distance between him and Alek slowly.
And Alek remembered Vitya.
Of course, the entire city would.
That was the one man who was loved so loudly and so proudly by Sergei Moskowsky. The realm had seen it. The way Sergei worshipped the very ground Vitya walked on.
It was no secret.
"I see you remember him," Yaroslav said, and Alek paled.
He had made a mistake.
He was learning that now.
Because Yaroslav, like the Romanovs, wasn’t angry that Sergei had married Katya in a contract marriage.
They were angry that Aleksandr had used the miscarriage.
That was why Yaroslav was here.
To defend Katya’s honor.
"Shall we begin now? I have three hours specially dedicated to chatting with you," Yaroslav said with a smile as he put the silencer on his gun, something THAT Alek hadn’t even noticed he was having yet.
What the fuck?
