[FROLO]

"Goodness gracious," Alek’s breath hitched at the sight before him.

Here, in an ivory three-piece suit, a white shirt, and a muted gold tie, was his greatest undoing. Standing there in gold cufflinks and hair that was pushed back neatly, Katya Romanov would be his doom.

"Little rose..." the alpha growled lowly, possessively.

"We’re going to be late," Katya pointed out as he laughed softly.

"Politicians are known to be shamelessly late to events... I could use that to my advantage today," Alek said hoarsely as he took in the sight before him.

Katya Romanov was a sight to behold.

How a man could be that beautiful was beyond him.

"Ale—"

"We can have five more minutes to ourselves, little rose," Alek bargained hungrily, his eyes raking Katya’s fit and how perfect it was on the omega.

Oh, he was losing his mind, and he had absolutely no complaints about it.

"Focus, Mr. Senator. Besides, a little birdie told me earlier that the event only needs to log us for an hour or two... Can you do that, sir?" Katya teased, and Alek groaned.

"You can even take them off on our way home," Katya added.

Alek froze for a moment like his brain was trying to catch up with Katya’s words and was going too fast.

"Mine," Alek growled possessively before he smashed their lips together, capturing Katya’s in a heated kiss.

Katya didn’t push him away.

When they pulled back, lips swollen and the omega still looking like sin, his alpha had to remind himself that this was his omega.

His Katya.

His and no one else’s.

"Gods, I love you so much," Alek whispered when they pulled back, their foreheads pressing together.

"Alpha..."

"My little rose..."

"You ruined my hair, now I have to fix it again," Katya pouted, and Alek let out a defeated laugh, mumbling apologies that they both knew he didn’t mean.

"You’re still my beautiful little rose," Alek defended.

"You always think I’m beautiful even at my worst... Now shoo, let me fix myself so we can go to the event," Katya shooed, kicking Alek out.

"I can help thoughhhh," the alpha complained lightly.

"After the event... Now be a good alpha so we can show the city my senator’s kindness."

"Your senator?" Alek keened.

"Yes. Mine. My Alek... See you in a bit, alpha," Katya said, and a giddy Alek finally stepped out, leaving Katya to fix himself up.

Gods, his omega was beautiful.

Once the door closed and Katya was sure no footsteps or Alek were lingering... Katya let out a defeated breath as he grabbed wipes to fix himself up.

Then...

He called his friends.

"How do I look?" Katya asked once he had fixed himself. He knew he looked good, because Alek was barely holding onto control at his sight.

But that alpha wasn’t the target, was he?

"Yeah, that man is going to donate his entire wealth to the city this time," Svet snorted like that was the most obvious thing.

"Are you trying to kill him? Because this looks like a very easy way to kill the man you love," Andre added, and Katya groaned.

"Did you dress up for your alpha?" Svet teased.

"Yes," Katya said before he realized what he had said.

"I mean... Alek barely could keep his hands off me... He’s my alpha," Katya added fast.

"Imagine dying on the same day as your dead husband because your insanely beautiful omega decided to kill you with his looks. What a lucky alpha," Andre chimed in like it was normal for them.

After the call with Sergei weeks ago, Katya had gone to be with his friends to clear his mind, only for them to trick him into confessing his love for the devil of Frolo.

Expectedly, Katya had tried to say no and deny it, but they didn’t exactly seem to buy his denial, much less judge him for his questionable taste in men.

"If I were your alpha, that event would never see you, Romanov," Svet said, and Andre smacked her at the back of her head.

"What? It’s true, though, is it not? You can’t be looking like sin and expect me to say that you look good, man. You look like the weapon formed against you know who," Svet insisted.

"We don’t talk anymore," Katya pouted.

"Because both of you are stupi—" Svet ranted, and Andre covered her mouth.

"You look good, Romanov. Just be yourself and the day will be well. If you need us, we are just a call away, alright? Don’t believe crazy Svet today. Have fun!" Andre said, and Katya laughed as his friends fought in the background, phone forgotten.

But maybe they were right.

This was a social event.

He just had to be himself. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen?

Sergei probably wouldn’t even show up since they hadn’t been talking, right?

"Chin up, Romanov. You can do this," Katya breathed before he ended the call with a stay safe to his friends and walked out to a waiting Alek.

"Alpha..." Katya called, and Alek smiled at him sheepishly, the hunger in his eyes still evident.

This was going to be a long, long day.

"Shall we?" Katya said.

Alek just nodded, then kissed him lightly on the lips again before they drove off to the event.

The drive was a quiet one, with Katya wearing scent blockers and Alek the same. But it didn’t make Alek any less hungry for his scent.

He was constantly sniffing the omega, and Katya let him, because at some point in the past three weeks, Katya had learned not to wear patches that completely blocked his scent.

Sure, his scent was not as potent, but it was only enough for one alpha to breathe in.

And right now, it was doing the job because Alek was calmly breathing him in possessively.

It didn’t take long for them to get to the gala.

Everyone there looked like they breathed gold and slept on diamonds. This was an elite social gala. Katya hadn’t bothered to ask what the event was about, but he knew that appearances did matter.

"Senator, you make such a beautiful couple," one of the attendees said, and Katya smiled courteously while Alek entertained them.

Katya just stood beside his alpha like any good omega would. His eyes scanned the ballroom like he was looking for something, someone maybe.

Thankfully, he didn’t see what he was looking for.

’Maybe he didn’t have to respect my invite... Or he was overwhelmed by grief,’ he thought sadly, while silently praying the day was kinder to the alpha in his mind.

And for the next hour, the gala was bearable. People getting to know each other, politicians interacting with each other. People talking of business and whatnot.

Katya even had to indulge in conversations that were geared towards his position as the Moskowsky chairman and his work in R&D, and of course, he engaged them.

Everything was perfect, and Katya was doing well mingling beside Alek and sometimes away from Alek.

Then he saw him.

A woman’s hand in his, holding so tightly, while he smiled like it was normal for him.

He wore a charcoal black suit, looking like he had been dropped by the moon to fuck up Katya’s life.

As if it wasn’t bad enough...

Their eyes met...

And Katya bolted to the bathroom.

"I need to use the gents," he excused himself.

Barely seconds in, the door opened after him.

And HE stood there.

"You’ve been avoiding me... Moy Solnyshka."
