Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]

Chapter 228: The Endless Unwarranted Veils of Deceit

[FROLO]

The court didn’t even get the chance to breathe before everything went to shit.

Journalists were scrambling to provide their stations with firsthand information, and it was already proving hard, seeing as there was a lot that they had to let the public know.

The editors were screaming about the front-page articles and the admissions from the courtroom.

"Change the headlines on the front page!"

"The surgeon admitted the child was alive when they went into the operating room!" someone shouted in the mess.

Some law officers were still shaken by the admission they had heard. It was like listening to psychopaths be allowed to walk the Frolo streets freely.

No one had truly been prepared for it all.

No one.

This was the kind of thing that was never supposed to be possible in all of humanity, yet they had heard it all from the sources, and it was gory.

"I have never heard anything that sinister in my entire career," one sighed as they looked from the journalists to the witness stand where the court officers were surrounding the witnesses.

There was no telling if they were protecting the witnesses from being mauled inside this courtroom or if they were trying to make justice a truth that many had been denied.

The therapist was still crying like she had suddenly gotten the greatest epiphany of what she had done and was considering giving up her life and facing it all without being rushed by the law.

It was a ridiculous sight for a woman who had fucked up a life.

The professor, on the other hand, looked like he was stuck between reality and endless illusions. He looked hazed as fuck, and it wasn’t exactly the prettiest of sights for him.

Because inside this courtroom, his students had watched him admit to the very thing he taught them against.

The surgeon though...

Doctor Hamid still held no remorse.

Not on his face, save for the occasional forced smile he gave everyone who was looking at him. It was almost as if he had the chance again, he would do it. And that made the man way too insane for anyone’s liking.

How a man could be that cold and detached, as if all of this was just a waste of his time.

He looked like a man who had spent more time in the operating room than interacting with people, and the way he was bored on the stand despite the bruises on his face and neck had everyone thinking the same thing.

Was the surgeon a psychopath?

Slowly, the courthouse seemed to slow down with everyone focused on something else. The news, the shock, everything that came in between

Until one of the court marshals who had been standing beside the defendants suddenly fell to the ground, his arm broken, and the sound of bones snapping filled the room.

Everyone turned at the screeching sound of the tables when people moved back, and the groans of the court marshal at his broken bones.

Someone had gotten up, and it wasn’t just any someone.

Yaroslav Moskowsky.

How he had gotten past the barrier that separated the court audience from the witness dock would still remain a mystery, maybe because he had done it once when the court was in session and he was at it again.

And suddenly, all the focus shifted to the one man in the room who was visibly too distraught by everything. Like he was supposed to fix this mess too, however ungrateful everything seemed at the moment.

Milan looked at her baby daddy, and despite the fact that she had been pushed by him earlier, she still tried. Someone had to anyway. Funny how she was still determined despite all the risks she was facing at the moment.

"Yaro, you can’t keep doing this," she said, reaching for him, hoping to the universe that he could at least listen to her. She as the mother of their child, no?

But Yaro...

He did not listen to her. Thankfully, she didn’t try to touch him like she had done before because that had resulted in her greatest embarrassment of the day.

She was still too late anyway, because Yaroslav’s hand was back on the surgeon’s neck, squeezing tighter this time, like he was determined to break the man’s trachea and rip it out of his throat.

"Our child was alive!" Yaroslav roared in rage as his hands tightened on the surgeon’s throat. The fact that this man had snuffed away a life that should have lived was really something else, and Yaroslav wasn’t about to forgive that.

Everyone understood him, though this time.

"GET HIM OFF!" the court marshals shouted to each other as they tried to loosen the grip the Beta had on the surgeon’s throat. It was a whole different war altogether because Yaroslav was strong and agile.

He was well-trained, probably more than the marshals, given the way he flicked them off of him with so much ease. But the marshals couldn’t let him keep at it.

Of course, they knew that this wouldn’t end well for them, but a death inside a courtroom wasn’t exactly what someone would want on their résumé, even if Frolo itself was on its way to hell at the moment.

It was a little too much even for them, but who the fuck was counting, right?

"Get your hands off me! I am a surgeon!!" the surgeon shouted without any remorse.

And everyone collectively facepalmed at the man’s insanity. He was trying to win something that he had to have known he would never get any leverage for. Not ever anyway.

This was a lost battle, and maybe the surgeon would just let shit happen quickly.

But he didn’t care.

Not here.

Not right now.

Clearly, the money he had been paid had been enough to keep him that confident. But who the fuck had that much money in the city?

The Moskowskys were the wealthiest family in the nation and realm. They could buy anything and anyone they wanted. They could spend money in hundreds of millions and they wouldn’t even file for bankruptcy.

So, what the fuck was the amount that had gotten the ten medics that confident about the atrocities they committed? Because this was not just something that had happened on a whim.

They had to have been motivated, and it just didn’t make any sense, regardless of the angle they considered.

It was all just too insane.

Too unhinged because no one in their right mind would ever vouch for this.

The six marshals tried their best as Yaroslav shouted at the surgeon, demanding answers about their child and swearing retribution for what had happened to Katya.

The entire rant was about how Katya deserved to be happy, and the trio took that away, with the surgeon making it all happen each time.

It was cruel, but what the fuck was supposed to happen when everyone was just trying to come to terms with the kinds of people they trusted with their lives across Frolo then?

The Romanov camp tried to get through to Yaroslav, but it was pointless. Not even their calls for peace in the courtroom, for the session to be over, were heard. And of course, some looked at Katya as if to ask him why he was not doing anything.

"Katya," Svet called quietly.
