Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]
Chapter 136: Nothing Happened In The Way I Wanted
[FROLO]
"Careful, son. That woman is the mother of your child," Sergei said, his tone low like he was making sure Yaroslav understood what he was talking about.
"That’s all she’ll ever be, father," Yaroslav said with conviction. Like he had made up his mind about this long before anyone could convince him. If anything, he didn’t even look like he wanted to be told something else about his relationship with Milan.
And Sergei was at a loss for words for the first time in a really long time.
So, he paused and let his son continue talking.
Because even he knew that this was one he couldn’t just judge without having all the information. But would it make it all any easier when the sun went down, and all he had to be was the father of the child Vitya gave him?
"Katya could have a baby, Father. I knew it for a while, and I knew how much it hurt him. He went to the clinics every three months. Trying to figure out what was wrong with him. The pressure was getting to him, and I hated it.
"I love him. Always have... So, seeing him suffer that much, it was unbearable. So, I went back to Milan... Re-started what should never have happened in the first place. It wasn’t supposed to last five years.
"It was supposed to be for a month or two... But each time, she’d test negative. Maybe because she was not sure I really wanted her. Couldn’t blame her for that, though. I never wanted her father.
’So, I... I stayed around her. Hang out with her on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I know it doesn’t change the fact that I cheated on Katya. But I wanted to give him a child so no one would get to him. At least then he would smile daily.
"I planned to kill Milan after the birth, but by the time Milan conceived, my omega hated me already. He knew I was cheating. He knew it had been going on for a while and never confronted me. Then our anniversary happened.
"Milan... She wanted a baby with me, and I thought to myself, yeah, finally. But her condition was that I’d break off the marriage. I told her I couldn’t. That Moskowskys never divorced. So, she made sure we were caught.
"Katya wasn’t supposed to come home early that day... But he did. And I broke his heart. When he left... Milan... She let me knot her, and I was thankful that it happened because then I wouldn’t have to deal with her anymore.
"I know that doesn’t make up for anything. I just... I just didn’t think I’d lose him forever," Yaroslav sighed desperately, his shoulders still slumped.
He looked like he had just made the best and the greatest of confessions and was waiting for a reward or some shit.
Sergei, on the other hand, stared at his son for the third time like this was the greatest piece of shit he had ever seen. There was just no way his child was justifying cheating. There had been so many different opinions. So many.
"Are you plain stupid?" Sergei asked tiredly, like this was not what he had signed up for.
"It was the only way I could think of, Father," Yaroslav said, and Sergei got up and began pacing.
He couldn’t believe him.
Katya had miscarried that day because his son was being stupid.
Oh, the urge to throw that in his face, but then Katya had never used his miscarriage anywhere. He had never even mentioned it to anyone outside his circle. And Sergei wasn’t planning to be the one who did that secret.
But fuck, it was tempting right now.
To throw it in Yaroslav’s face.
To let him know how he had the chance to have a baby with the boy he loved and how he had lost it because of his stupidity.
Then again, was it stupidity or cruelty?
"Adoption. Surrogacy. IVF babies. What the fuck, boy? You’re telling me you knocked up the one woman who made your husband insecure and then expected him to carry the child and take care of it as his own?
"Who are you, and where is my son? Because this cruel person before me isn’t my son!" Sergei bellowed.
He couldn’t believe it.
They were in modern times. A time when technology could be used to fix so much. Hell, they even had a tech company that Yaroslav headed. There had been so many other options that going after the ex-girlfriend.
Sergei felt so disgusted.
He was too close to puking his guts out. Hell, he couldn’t believe the bullshit he had heard from Yaro, and worse, how he had raised his son. Maybe Vitya would have known what to do because of this? This was the greatest of disappointments.
"I was stupid, Father... I know," Yaroslav said, trying to make it all better. But what use was better right now? He had fucked up. He had ruined the life of an omega. He had pushed Katya’s limits.
As much as Sergei was glad that he got to marry Katya, he had never wanted it to be like that. He had wanted things to be easier on the omega end. Not for him to be in so much pain first.
Sergei never wanted Katya to suffer, and now his son was here trying to justify the cruelest possible thing he had done. What happened to humanity, though?
"You were stupid? You ruined both your lives, and for what? Do you think he will be happy once he knows that you cheated to give him a baby? Or will that just make him feel inadequate after everything?" Sergei asked, the disappointment obvious in his tone.
And Yaroslav just stared defeatedly.
It was all he could manage at the moment because, honestly, there was nothing he could do to change it.
"He has to, Father. He has to remember what we had. Our family. I only did this because he was under pressure. I wanted to save us. That’s why I didn’t agree to the separation. But now that there is a baby, he doesn’t need to give one.
"He is enough," Yaroslav said, and frankly, if he wasn’t Sergei’s son, Sergei would have shot him dead in that instant.
He just couldn’t believe that this little shit was the pride of love. That this stupid beast of a boy was really his son with Vitya.
Goodness, this was crazy.
"Oh, yeah, now? Will he once he realizes that you bought the trolls to ruin him?" Sergei asked as he halted at his son.
"What trolls?"
"Don’t play games with me, kid," Sergei said, but Yaroslav stared at him with confusion written all over his face. It was almost like he didn’t even have a clue what his father was talking about.
"I don’t know what you mean, Father. Why would I send trolls after the man I love and want back?" Yaroslav asked like he was trying to do the math, and it wasn’t adding up in his head.
Yaroslav had suffered while trying to get Katya back. He had endured the kind of shit he would never have had to if he had really sent the trolls. His entire life was based on Katya. So why the fuck would he mess that up?
"... your Knox account was used to pay trolls to attack Katya..."
