Chapter 415: Chapter 225: Prodigies Join Forces, First Display of Might

A glint appeared in Zhang Junyi’s eyes.

"So, is the one looking to extend his life the old patriarch of the Qian family?"

"Amitabha. Most likely that old bastard."

Huie Jue said, his tone devoid of either joy or sorrow.

Xie Yuan remained silent, his mind made up. ’I have to wring the entire truth out of Mr. Qian. Why was Wang Zhiyi killed? What did he find out? Is this evil life-extension method real? Who’s involved? With a key player like this in hand, many of these questions should be easy to answer. I can’t let him die this easily.’

"Monk Huie Jue," Xie Yuan asked, "torture, interrogation... you know how to do that stuff, don’t you?"

Huie Jue looked innocent.

"Amitabha! Benefactor Xie, don’t you slander me. I am but a humble monk with a compassionate heart. Why would you assume I’d know how to do that?"

Xie Yuan reasoned coolly,

"Judging by all the nonsense you spout, you’re no proper monk. This sort of thing is probably right up your alley."

"Benefactor Xie, for saying such things to a monk, you’re going to Avici Hell..."

"Watch out!"

Xie Yuan’s sharp cry rang out. The three of them simultaneously sensed a ferocious blast of Qi Force and dove to the side.

BOOM!

A razor-sharp blast of Sword Qi struck the very spot where they had been standing, blasting a huge crater into the street.

The trio landed in a heap to the side. They looked back and saw a figure on a distant rooftop, riding the moonlight as it flew toward them with incredible speed.

Beneath the silver disc of the near-full moon, the faint silhouette looked like a celestial riding the wind, its approach exuding an immense, powerful aura.

A Grandmaster!

The expressions of Xie Yuan and his companions shifted. Seeing the figure’s obvious hostile intent, they were all instantly on maximum alert.

’A Grandmaster actually chased us down...’

"Which arrogant fools dare to cause a ruckus in Jinling?"

The voice, filled with a chilling cold, rang out as the figure arrived before them in the blink of an eye, revealing an old man dressed in magnificent robes.

Xie Yuan recognized him at a glance. This elder was one of the Yao family’s Grandmasters, Yao Yilong.

Seeing the Grandmaster had caught up to them, the three knew it was too late to run. They could only assume their stances, facing the old man with extreme caution.

Yao Yilong looked at their stances and snorted disdainfully.

"Like mayflies trying to shake a tree. You truly don’t know your own limits."

’I can tell with a single glance they’re all at the Qi and Blood Second Transformation Realm,’ he thought. ’And they dare to draw their weapons on me, a Grandmaster!’

Fury ignited in Yao Yilong’s heart. His gaze swept over them and fell on Mr. Qian in Huie Jue’s grasp, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.

’Three Second Transformation Realm cultivators captured this guy alive? The younger generation of the Qian family is truly useless.’

His gaze swept over the trio—a monk and a Daoist among them. A thought occurred to Yao Yilong, and looking at Huie Jue, he said lightly,

"Junior, identify yourself. If you name your master and lineage, perhaps I will spare you for the sake of your elders."

Huie Jue pressed his palms together, his face a mask of pure innocence as he replied,

"Amitabha! This humble monk is Huie Jue. I study under Master Zhiling of Prajna Temple. It is an honor to meet you, Senior Grandmaster."

Yao Yilong’s expression tightened. ’So it really is that Huie Jue?’

Of course, he had heard the shout from earlier in the day. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered to ask.

If any other young Martial Artist had dared to kidnap someone in Jinling—even one from the Four Great Sects or Eight Great Families—he would have captured them first and asked questions later.

But if this was a disciple of Zen Monk Ziling, he naturally had to make inquiries first...

Yao Yilong’s face darkened slightly, but then his expression shifted in an instant. He looked at Xie Yuan and narrowed his eyes.

"Then you must be that Xie Yuan."

’No, I’m Zhang Mountain...’

However, despite the immense pressure from the Grandmaster’s undisguised aura, Xie Yuan knew it was too late to hide his identity. He simply offered a cool smile.

"I am Xie Yuan from Yunzhou. A pleasure to meet you, Grandmaster Yao."

Seeing Xie Yuan’s carefree smile and straightforward admission of his identity, a sharp glint flashed in Yao Yilong’s eyes. The three youths felt a chill run down their spines, as if killing intent had suddenly saturated the night air.

"Excellent. You actually dared to come to Jinling. Youngsters are certainly full of courage. Just like a newborn calf that doesn’t fear a tiger!"

The old man spoke lightly. His words seemed like praise, but his tone was dripping with sarcasm.

Sword in hand, he stood suspended in the air, looking Xie Yuan up and down. He had already decided to kill him.

All three wore extremely grave expressions. If they were facing someone at the Qi Blood Third Transformation Realm, they wouldn’t be afraid fighting together.

But the man before them was a Grandmaster.

Forget the fact that they were only at the Qi and Blood Second Transformation Realm; even if all three broke through to the next realm right this instant, they still wouldn’t be confident in their ability to handle a Grandmaster.

Three prodigies at the Second Transformation Realm might be able to easily capture a Third Transformation Realm opponent, but three genius Martial Artists at the Third Transformation Realm, even working together, would not necessarily be a match for a Grandmaster.

Which Grandmaster wasn’t a prodigy in their youth? The transformation from the Qi and Blood Second Transformation Realm to the Third Transformation Realm is already huge, but opening the Heaven and Earth Bridge and taking another step beyond the limits of the human body puts one in a completely different world from before.

Huie Jue tossed Mr. Qian aside and focused his full attention on the threat. The other two did the same.

Facing the Grandmaster’s killing intent, Xie Yuan and his companions didn’t dare to let their focus waver for even a moment.

Yao Yilong glanced at them, his eyes filled with contempt. His gaze was particularly dangerous when it landed on Xie Yuan.

However, despite the immense pressure he was exuding, he didn’t attack. Instead, he paused and looked toward Zhang Junyi.

"And you, little Daoist? What sect are you from?"

"The Xuanzhen Sect. Zhang Junyi."

Zhang Junyi answered without a trace of fear; he had no reason to hide his lineage.

Yao Yilong’s eyelid twitched again. He pressed on,

"Who is your master?"

"My master is Master Yuxu," Zhang Junyi answered with a small smile.

Yao Yilong’s pupils contracted. He blurted out instinctively,

"Impossible! Master Yuxu only has a few disciples, and all of them are world-renowned Grandmasters."

"Oh, the old Daoist only took me in a few years ago. You could say I’m his Closed-door Disciple."

Zhang Junyi said nonchalantly.
