I looked at the long line of text in front of me as I opened my eyes. I knew I would advance, but I did not expect this.
It is too shocking.
I read it, and the more I read, the more shocked I became. It took a while to come back to myself and think calmly, looking at the text in front of me.
I have advanced to Lv. 40; I was the only one among the three who hadn't.
Now I did, gaining Headmistress of Velvet Steel. My cheeks couldn't help but flush as I read the grand name.
I am happy, ecstatic. I couldn't help but wish it had happened under different circumstances. I laughed immediately at that thought; it is precisely because of the circumstance that I did advance.
My Evening Atelier and Diligent Mage classes also merged.
I thought that when I advanced, all three classes would merge, given the synergy between them. It did not, and I am glad, seeing the class name.
Arcane Composer.
I became serious as I looked at it. It's an extremely rare class, more powerful than Mage Composer or Spell Composer.
I looked at it before turning to skills.
My Night's Work, Touch of Vigor, Fake Face, Get Naked, and Numeracy had finally advanced. These are skills I got when I had Harlot and Madam Class; they didn't advance when I got Headmistress Class.
Now, they have not only advanced but also become a lot more powerful and useful.
Some have completely changed.
Take Get Naked; it's a skill that lets me remove the clothes of others along with my own with a touch. I rarely use it; even when I remove my own clothes, I like to do the act, then use the skill.
It has now advanced to an administrative skill.
I would have thought it was useless before coming in here, but now I think this skill is going to be very useful to me, just like Academy Accounts.
It's going to save me a lot of time; another skill will too.
Administrative Insight, the new Lv. 40 skill I got.
The college has become big, and managing it is quite overwhelming sometimes, with all those changes happening and the ones we are planning to make; this skill is going to be very useful.
I looked at it before looking down at the skill in it, and my heart started beating wildly.
It's a master skill.
Carla has it, so do Caena and Eudo, and now I have one as well. It's definitely better than Carla's. Though she will not agree with that, it's as good as Eudo's, might even be better.
Master is going to like it a lot. More than him, the girls- some of them- always complained about their skills.
I calmed my thoughts and turned to the Arcane Composer. The classes merged, and many skills advanced. Every skill is rare and powerful, especially Chromatic Acumen, Composition Insight, and Instant Fixation.
Also, three of my skills merged, forming Precise Control. I am really glad; it's a powerful skill. Most importantly, the pressure using one would be much less than using two.
Although the skill that excites me most is the new skill I got from Arcane Composer.
The spellbook isn't the only thing that came from Arcane Composer. There are several other books; one of them contains information about classes and skills of the paint-cast style.
Intent Infusion is a very rare skill. Through which I could infuse my intent into the spell.
Kind of like my aura method, but different. Though using this skill and aura method together, I could do things I couldn't before.
I was imagining things when my bracelet lit up and my mood became somber.
"Master Silver," I greeted.
'How are you feeling?' he asked. I had talked to him earlier, before I slept, but it was only for a minute.
"Good, rested," I replied. Their healing mages were good, and I used one of Caena's charms to soothe my spirit, which I had pushed to the limit.
'I am glad,' I could feel the relief in his voice.
"Have you found out who attacked us?" I asked, and there was silence. 'Yes, but the conspiracy runs much deeper, and I won't stop until I find out how deep it goes,' I could feel the raging anger in his voice.
Master Silver is one of the calmest people I have seen.
It is one of the first things I noticed about him. Few things rattle him to the level of showing such emotions, and the attack on me seemed to be one of them.
"I hope, I hope you will be careful, Master Silver," I cautioned.
I don't want him to go against people that we could not or shouldn't. We might be growing powerful, but I know very well how powerful our enemies are.
'Don't you worry about it. You focus on your rest and safe return to the dominion,' I sighed.
Knowing he would not let it go.
'Oh, one more thing,' he said, his voice becoming very serious. 'Soon, someone very important is going to call you. Agree, if they offer you, to list your name,' he added, confusing me.
"Who is going to call me?" I asked, curious.
'You will know when they call you an hour later.' With that, he cut the call.
I sighed before shaking my head, getting up from the bed and walking toward the gallery. I opened the glass door and stepped into it.
It's night, and it's beautiful.
Though I didn't feel like enjoying it, after what I had experienced in the afternoon, the attack had lasted barely ten minutes before it ended.
I pushed those thoughts away and looked around. Everywhere I saw armed men and women.
I watched them before I sat down and contacted Thaddeus. He was very worried and wanted to come, but I stopped him. I wanted him with me, to lean on his shoulder, but he has responsibilities.
The call lasted for over ten minutes, and then I made a quick call to Carla.
There are other calls to make, but I waited for the important call that Master Silver had said would come.
It didn't take long before it came, and the source is surprising. It's a Zenid Synod channel.
'Grand Administress Margaux Swan of Velvet Garden,' the voice greeted me, using my official title registered with the Synod.
"Greetings," I replied.
'You will now be connected to the prime representative of the leader of the Synod, Her Majesty, Grand Mage Asin,' he informed me, and the line went silent while I remained stunned with shock.
Grand Mage Asin; the second most powerful woman on the continent after the Archmage.
She handles affairs of Archmage City and the Zenid Synod. The Archmage had once stated publicly that if anyone became an Archmage in Archmage City in the next few decades, it would be her.
I was still in shock when the line connected.
"Your Majesty," I greeted hastily.
'We knew you were talented. It's why we accepted the request from your Lord for the spellbook and other knowledge of paint-casting. Still, I didn't expect you would gain such mastery in such a short time.' Her voice was soft and graceful, but every word seemed to hold the weight of a mountain.
I am not one bit surprised; she knew about the attack or what I did. They seem to know everything.
They are one of the reasons Master Silver is so paranoid about communication and information.
"I was lucky, Your Majesty. I don't think I could do it again if I tried," I replied, and it's the truth, but the woman didn't seem to believe it as she laughed.
'How is the brush? The first change must have happened in it, right?' She asked, and it couldn't help but shock me.
It is one thing they know about the battle, but another about the brush. I put it in a bag as soon as the change appeared and never dared to take it out.
Much less inform anyone, not even Master Silver.
"How do you know about that?" I asked, before I could stop myself, and the other woman replied with a laugh.
'That brush of yours is a lot more powerful than you realize. Keep progressing the way you are, and you might be able to scratch at its true power.'
Earlier, the changes happened. It somehow became a true artifact from a trinket.
Its power level is still the weakest of true artifacts, but it's without a doubt become a true artifact. We researched this artifact and its history.
We found nothing that would suggest it is anything but a trinket artifact.
'Any interest in joining the archmage city? We will provide you all the knowledge, guidance, and artifacts you would need.'
'You could also be with your daughter,' she offered, and for a moment, I wanted to agree, and that made me want to slap my ungrateful self.
"Thank you for the great honor, Your Excellency, but Greltheaven is my home."
'Thought so,' she sighed. However, I could not sense any disappointment, as if she expected the rejection.
Though it is without a doubt a magnificent offer that mages would kill for.
'The reason I called you is to congratulate you. We are going to register you as a Great Mage in our registry.' She informed. It shocked me so much, I laughed.
"My apologies, Your Excellency, but I know fewer than ten Grade III spells, much less any Grade IV spells."
Great Mages are those who can cast Grade V spells.
The archmage city is very strict when it registers names and designations. So one could understand my shock when she said she was granting me the title of Great Mage.
'We go with convention; if it is standard mages, you are not. As for learning more Grade IV spells, I don't think it will be much of a problem for you.'
'You have cast an Ashen Sparrow #6; that qualifies you as a non-standard Great Mage according to the rules of Archmage Tower.'
'The question is whether you want the information to be released in public?' She asked, and my heart couldn't help but beat excitedly at hearing that.
It would be a lie to say I didn't dream of becoming a Great Mage, but this feels like cheating. As the rules state, one needs to cast Grade V spells to become a Great Mage, and I couldn't even cast a Grade IV spell.
"I agree," I said.
This will make everyone aware of my abilities within minutes. Especially our enemies, but that's what Master Silver wants, or he wouldn't have told me to agree.
'Good.'
'We're looking forward to your progress, Great Mage Swan. I hope you won't disappoint us,' she said; her words felt heavy on my mind.
"I will try not to, Your Majesty."
