Chapter 371 - 223: Jiang Sifan Wins Lu Fan’s Bonus for the First Time
Chapter 371: Chapter 223: Jiang Sifan Wins Lu Fan’s Bonus for the First Time
After hanging up the phone, Jiang Sifan stood under a streetlight, his heart pounding.
Thirty thousand yuan was not a small sum for the studio.
He turned to look at Wen Wan and couldn’t help but smile. "Wen Wan, we won an award! The Advanced Entrepreneurship Award, thirty thousand yuan!"
Wen Wan was stunned for a moment, then she smiled too, her eyes shining. "Really? That’s great!"
Jiang Sifan was so excited he couldn’t stand still, and he spun around in place.
But after he finished spinning, he remembered his counselor’s vague tone, and a flicker of doubt suddenly arose in his heart.
"Wen Wan." He stopped and looked at her, asking curiously, "Don’t you think it’s a little strange? Since when did the department have this award? How come I’ve never heard of it?"
Wen Wan’s smile faltered for a moment.
She lowered her head, her fingers twisting the hem of her clothes, looking like she had something to say but didn’t know how to begin.
Jiang Sifan noticed her hesitation and asked doubtfully, "What’s wrong? Do you know something?"
Wen Wan was silent for a moment before saying softly, "Class President, actually... Uncle Lu started this fund."
Jiang Sifan froze.
Wen Wan didn’t dare to look at him, her voice growing softer and softer. "Uncle Lu told me about it before. He said we should apply, and he also said... he also said I shouldn’t tell you. He didn’t want you to feel like he was the one giving it to you."
Jiang Sifan stood under the streetlight, unable to say a single word.
’So, this award was also his doing.’
"When did you find out?" Jiang Sifan asked, a bit embarrassed.
Wen Wan replied softly, "A while now. Uncle Lu said you’re too proud, and that you wouldn’t accept his help if he offered it directly, so he used this method..."
Jiang Sifan said nothing.
He recalled Lu Fan’s cautious gaze whenever he looked at him, the message that said, "She is my daughter, it was only right to save her," and his counselor’s vague tone on the phone just now.
’So everyone was helping me, and I had no idea.’
"Class President, are you angry?" Wen Wan watched him cautiously.
Jiang Sifan shook his head and smiled.
It was a bitter, yet somewhat relieved smile. "No," he said. "It’s just that... I feel like I can’t do anything right."
Wen Wan quickly reassured him, "That’s not true! You built the studio bit by bit. You went out and found every single one of those clients. All of that is real. Uncle Lu just... just gave you a little push from behind."
Jiang Sifan looked at her, a sudden warmth spreading through his heart.
He reached out and gently patted her head, smiling. "Thank you for telling me."
Wen Wan’s face turned red again. She lowered her head and said softly, "As long as you’re not angry."
The two of them stood at the school gate, neither of them speaking.
The streetlight stretched their shadows long, making them overlap.
Jiang Sifan suddenly remembered how she had leaned against his chest in the restaurant earlier.
As light as cotton, as soft as a cloud.
"Come on, I’ll walk you back," he said.
Wen Wan nodded.
They walked side by side through the school gate. A cool night breeze blew past, but their hearts felt warm.
When they reached her dormitory building, Wen Wan stopped and turned to look at him. "Class President, good night."
Jiang Sifan smiled. "Good night."
Wen Wan turned to walk into the dormitory. After a few steps, she glanced back at him again.
Under the streetlight, her face was flushed, her eyes were bright, and her lips were pressed lightly together.
Jiang Sifan waved at her.
Wen Wan waved back and turned, running into the dormitory building.
Jiang Sifan remained where he was, watching until her back disappeared through the door. He stood there for a good while.
He turned and started walking back, but instead of returning to his dorm, he went to the studio.
He pushed the door open. The inside was pitch-black, with only the light from the streetlamps outside spilling onto the floor.
He sat down at the desk and stared at the account ledgers on it for a moment.
The certificate for the Advanced Entrepreneurship Award hadn’t been issued yet, but he already knew who was behind it.
He leaned back in his chair and stared blankly at the ceiling.
’Just how many things had that man done for me without my knowledge?’
He thought for a long time, but couldn’t come up with an answer.
His phone buzzed. He picked it up and saw it was a message from Wen Wan.
Wen Wan: [Class President, get some rest. Don’t overthink things.]
Jiang Sifan looked at the message and smiled.
He replied.
Jiang Sifan: [Okay. You too.]
After sending the message, he put his phone on the desk, stood up, and walked to the window.
In the distance, rows of campus streetlights shone, stretching into the depths of the night.
He stood there for a long time.
Then he turned off the light, locked the door, and headed for his dorm.
It seemed Jiang Sifan was slowly beginning to accept Lu Fan’s help.
