Chapter 675 - 669: Preparing for Refinement

The Wood Spirit Cyan Profound’s Devouring Power had little effect on the Fire Spirit Black Obsidian and Earth Spirit Profound Nether, as they were all Heaven and Earth Spirits. A black-and-yellow flame enveloped Shen Haoran, isolating him from the bizarre Devouring Power. He strode through the plaza as if taking a stroll in his own backyard.

Outside the plaza, Ji Lingxuan saw that Shen Haoran was unharmed and let out a long sigh of relief. But when she saw the two Heaven and Earth Spirits on him, a strange light flashed in her eyes. ’Heaven and Earth Spirits... others might spend a lifetime and never successfully refine a single one, but Shen Haoran has already refined two. And now, he’s about to refine a third. To use the refinement of Heaven and Earth Spirits to enhance his own power... in the entire history of the continent, he’s probably the only one.’

Protected by the Fire Spirit Black Obsidian and the Earth Spirit Profound Nether, Shen Haoran quickly arrived before the Wood Spirit Pearl and the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound. As he gazed at the constantly throbbing Wood Spirit Seed, the Fire Spirit Black Obsidian and Earth Spirit Profound Nether on his body began to cheer, as if excited to have found one of their own kind.

Shen Haoran took a deep breath to suppress his excitement, then took out the Sealing Token Yao Wuchen had given him. Without hesitation, he pressed it onto the ghastly white chains. In an instant, a blinding light flared. The ghastly white chains binding the Wood Spirit Pearl shattered inch by inch. A brilliant green radiance burst forth, illuminating the entire plaza as if it were daylight.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Once the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound broke free from its Seal, a terrifying storm of Energy instantly erupted from the Wood Spirit Pearl. The ferocious gale raged, blasting Shen Haoran, who was standing right beside it, clear out of the plaza. At the same time, the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound’s life-devouring energy surged dramatically. The surrounding stone walls began to corrode at a rate visible to the naked eye, and the two Heaven and Earth Spirits on Shen Haoran’s body started to tremble violently.

"Ling Xuan!" Shen Haoran shouted. The two-colored flame on his body flared instantly, enveloping Ji Lingxuan and shielding her from the terrifying Energy that had burst from the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound.

In the Underworld, the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound seemed to go berserk. Mighty waves of Energy, like a raging tide, crashed across the plaza one after another. Soon, the entire Underworld was flooded with green Energy. This immense power battered the surrounding stone walls, causing the corroded sections to collapse. Any rubble that touched the Energy was instantly disintegrated into dust.

In this ocean of green Energy, Shen Haoran frantically channeled the Fire Spirit Black Obsidian and the Earth Spirit Profound Nether. The two types of Power of Heaven and Earth formed a dual-layered barrier, tightly enveloping both him and Ji Lingxuan. They were like a small boat adrift on a vast sea, in constant danger of being swallowed by the green Energy.

An unknown amount of time passed. Shen Haoran felt his Spiritual Power being drained to the last drop. Just as he was about to collapse, the terrifying, raging Energy around them finally subsided. The Wood Spirit Cyan Profound, having seemingly vented its fury, now hovered quietly in mid-air.

Feeling the pressure vanish, Shen Haoran let out a long sigh of relief. When he saw that the Underworld had nearly doubled in size, he gasped. ’Heaven and Earth Spirits truly live up to their reputation as the most terrifying sources of energy in existence.’ Shen Haoran was certain that if the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound wished, it could have completely destroyed the entire underground of Central City.

"Brother Haoran, the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound seems very weak," Ji Lingxuan said softly, sensing the fluctuations in its aura.

Shen Haoran nodded. "The Medicine Hall’s Seal is quite ingenious. It didn’t just contain the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound’s power; it channeled it throughout the outer perimeter of the Medicine Hall. That’s why the Spiritual Power around the Medicine Hall Headquarters is so dense. Furthermore, most of the mechanisms and Arrays in the Medicine Hall likely draw their energy from this Wood Spirit Cyan Profound."

Hearing this, Ji Lingxuan’s brow furrowed. "If that’s the case, then the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound is incredibly important to the Medicine Hall. Why would they just hand it over to us? Could it be a trap?"

"Haha, don’t worry. The Medicine Hall isn’t like other powers; they act with integrity. They’re Alchemists, after all. They gave us the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound because they know this Seal won’t last forever. The Wood Spirit Cyan Profound is one of the Heaven and Earth Spirits; it will lash out when it feels threatened. Even in its current weakened state, it could destroy Central City with ease."

"The Medicine Hall’s Seal is like the fable of boiling a frog. It doesn’t drain the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound’s Energy violently, but rather, step-by-step. I have to admit, the senior who devised this method was brilliant. He didn’t hoard the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound for himself but used it to benefit the entire Medicine Hall. The problem is, the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound seems to have realized something is wrong and has begun to lash out. That’s why the Medicine Hall is so desperate to find a Martial Artist who can refine it," Shen Haoran explained, his eyes fixed on the spirit.

"So, Brother Haoran, are you confident you can do it?" Ji Lingxuan asked, gazing at his profile.

Hearing her question, Shen Haoran let out a soft chuckle. He held out his hand, and the Spirit Seeds of two Heaven and Earth Spirits—one black, one yellow—materialized, pulsing gently in his palm.

"It’s not a question of confidence. I must succeed, and I will succeed!" A confident smile played on Shen Haoran’s lips.

Ji Lingxuan gazed at his confident smile and nodded gently. She loved seeing him like this, full of self-assurance. She, too, believed that he would undoubtedly succeed.

Shen Haoran took a deep breath. With a flash, he shot toward the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound. The spirit, in turn, seemed to sense the auras of the Fire Spirit Black Obsidian and Earth Spirit Profound Nether within him. It transformed into a streak of jade-green light and charged at him.

Shen Haoran and the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound collided violently. The powerful impact kicked up a fierce gale, forcing back the jade-green Energy below them and creating a small vacuum vortex beneath Shen Haoran.

After the collision, the two Spirit Seeds on Shen Haoran’s body rapidly wound around the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound, encasing it completely. Shen Haoran seized it and, to Ji Lingxuan’s utter shock, shoved it directly into his mouth, preparing to begin the Refinement in the most savage way imaginable!

BOOM! The moment the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound entered Shen Haoran’s body, it began to thrash violently. It seemed to sense a threat, but under the suppression of the Fire Spirit Black Obsidian and the Earth Spirit Profound Nether, the Energy it unleashed didn’t harm Shen Haoran at all. Instead, it backfired onto itself. The already weakened Spirit Seed began to flicker unsteadily.

Seeing his chance, Shen Haoran wasted no time. He immediately began guiding it along the cultivation pathways of his Chaos Heaven-Dominating Technique, beginning the Refinement of the Wood Spirit Cyan Profound...
