Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension
Chapter 442 - 440:Jewel(2)
Chapter 442: Chapter 440:Jewel(2)
The chanting wore on until the princess raised her arm, and then the crowd quieted.
"Ladies and gentlemen!!" A man with ocean-blue skin, blue hair, blue everything, floated downward on a circular object, a mic in his hand as he announced in fervent cheer, "Just returning from the abyss, without even taking the week to enjoy her own celebratory moment, our princess, Nyssara Varellis, the Jewel of Aetheris, has decided to once again grace us with her magnificent presence!"
OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
The crowd went wild, the Princess’s prestige clear for all to see.
"I know the lot of you are already tired of hearing me talk, so without any more delays, I present to Your Highness... your opponent for the day!"
Step. Step. Step.
The crowd went quiet as they awaited the arrival of the one to confront their princess, but—
"Hehehehe, well, well, well," a sinister and cocky laughter echoed from the walkway, "if it isn’t the acclaimed princess of sector B-0000345."
All eyes and focus shifted to the entrance of the opposite walkway as a man appeared.
"This..." The instant I saw Max stand like a man frightened, I knew the man that just appeared wasn’t normal.
"Well, seems things are about to truly become exciting." My own anticipation merely grew as I focused on the ongoing confrontation.
...
The arena had gone silent the moment the man appeared, not a soul daring to make a sound.
"This... this..." Even the announcer seemed frightened enough that he had forgotten to do his job.
"Do not mind me. I am merely here to stretch my limbs just as you all are, I do not wish for any special treatment." The man, purple-haired with multicolored stripes running along his body, smiled harmlessly as he waved the announcer on.
The blue-skinned man, unsure of what to do, turned toward the still-silent princess, eyes questioning.
"Do not worry, Sir Locks. Our guest here has already said clearly that he does not wish for any special treatment, so we will not accord him one." The princess’s voice was hard as tempered steel.
"Ahhh... so that’s the fire my brothers were talking about. I like it. I like it very much, ahahahahahahaha!!!" The man laughed wildly.
"Brother, I suggest you don’t underestimate that woman." Another equally smug voice sounded from the skies above as the crowd whipped their heads up. I could feel the air literally being sucked out of their lungs as the figures of two other young men appeared, hovering in the air.
The waves of power they gave off clearly belonged to beings that had attained quite a high level in laws. I wouldn’t doubt that they, like Salazar, would have had multiple laws created just for their own purposes.
"Yes, brother. She might look beautiful and tame, but I assure you, if you give her the chance, she’ll take your head off." One of the youths, the one with six dragon horns curling like a crown on his head, mocked lightly.
"Trust us, we’ve been there, ahahahah!!" The other one, a young man with golden skin and golden wings sprouting from his back, laughed.
"Heh! Losing to a mere law integration stage powerhouse just shows how capable you two are. Fear not. Her fate won’t be any different from the others, resistance is futile."
The three conversed like they were the only ones present. I could feel a suffocating killing intent leaking from Max, not just him, but the entire arena were releasing their killing intent and they were aimed at nobody else but the three youths conversing and laughing like there was nothing else but them in the world.
"Interesting." Seems there was something here that I wasn’t quite aware of. "Very interesting."
"Enough!" The princess’s cold voice shut down the chatter between the three. "If my lord is here to fight, then please do so, otherwise, we can go meet my imperial father. I am sure he shall be gladdened by your visit." Her words made the three finally shut up.
"No need. We can do that after our little bout. Go on, little man, begin the fight." The striped youth grinned savagely.
After a brief pause, the announcer finally began:
"Ladies and gentlemen! In a twist of events, we have been graced with the presence of not one, not two, but three lords from the prestigious and renowned Caldera family!"
OOOOHHHHH!!!
Despite hwit still boiling rage and killing intent, the crowd could only give a clearly reluctant and restrained cheer at the mention of that name, and my brows couldn’t help but raise.
"Dante... aren’t they?" Leo asked, finally adjusting himself from his lazy crouch.
"Yes... yes, they are." My voice was a low growl, my killing intent already boiling. I wasn’t tearing their heads off only because I wanted to see what the princess could do.
"Master, should I..." Shulvan asked.
"Not now... hooo... not now." I had to take a deep breath to steady my rage. Seems Terra was right, I do have an irrational type of anger.
"Heh."
....
Back on the arena ground, the announcer finally kicked off the bout with a loud—
"FIGHT!!!"
The princess didn’t dawdle, a sword manifesting in her hand as she sprung toward her opponent, face focused.
SWIIIIII!!!
The air screamed as her sword descended, but—
KARANG!!!
The sound of metal clashing against metal rang out loudly as the striped youth caught the strike with his hand.
"Tut. Tut. Tut. That won’t do, Princess."
BANG!!!
A clawed strike landed on the princess’s armored body before she could even react as her body was sent skidding back, five jarring claw marks ruining her armor.
"That piece of tin won’t save you from my, A’run’s, claws, so I suggest you don’t rely on it too much!" Done with his words, the youth shot out like an arrow fired from a bow, claws shining with a brilliant multicolored light. The air within the atmosphere parted as the claws came down hard.
RIIIIIIPPPPPP!!!! The space within the area was sheared apart like wheat.
There wasn’t an ounce of panic on the beautiful face of the princess as she primed her sword in a horizontal position, and then—
CLAAAANG!!!!!!
Following the jarring sounds of metal clashing against metal, the entire thing snapped into two as the attack retained its momentum, primed for a clean strike on the body of the now defenseless princess, but—
BANG!!!!!!
A figure was sent flying backward faster than they had approached, the crowd heaving a sigh of relief as they saw the Calderan youth sent flying like a rag doll.
SKRRRRT!
The youth dug his heel into the earth as he brought his flying body to a grinding halt.
"Heh.." His hand wiped his lips as he tried to hide the blood. "So that’s the Divine Grade bloodline everyone is so worked up about, huh?" His venomous gaze locked onto the princess, whose body had changed.
"Hmmm? Now what’s this?" She had tossed aside her broken weapon, her hands having transformed into two massive tentacles with sharp teeth attached to the suction cups.
"Heh! So this is why they’re being this gentle and considerate? Because they refuse to antagonize you unnecessarily? Foolish!" The youth’s aura exploded outward as his own form began changing, multicolored fur bursting out of his skin, his face elongating, arms bulging and splitting as he turned into what looked like the hybrid mix of a tiger and a four-armed ape.
"So what if you have a Divine Grade bloodline?" Taking a stance, the youth charged at her.
WOOOSH!! His body didn’t just move, it manifested right before the princess as his right arm struck out.
BANG!!!
The princess was sent flying before she could react, but the youth wasn’t done, not even close.
ROOOAORRRR!!! Letting out a thunderous roar, his body manifested right behind the flying princess, and then—
BANG!! Another punch sent her form crashing into the earth.
BOOOOM!!!! The youth wasn’t relenting one bit as he crashed into her feet-first from high up.
"So what if you’ve got a Divine Grade bloodline!!!"
BOOOOOMMMM!!!!!
"A Divine Grade bloodline without the right augmentations..."
BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!
"...is trash! TRASH, YOU HEAR ME!!!"
CRASSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
The entire place rumbled and shook on the verge of collapsing, the runes flaring brilliantly as they tried and failed to uphold the building’s integrity.
The crowd held their breath as they waited for the dust cloud that had risen from the youth’s earlier attempt to make sure the princess became one with the arena floor to clear, but—
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
A horrifying shriek was all that greeted them as a figure was sent flying out of the dust cloud once more.
""A’RUN!!!!""
The youths up in the sky paled as they screamed out, wanting to rush after the bleeding and beaten figure of the striped youth, but before they could move—
OOOOOOUUUUMMMMMMMM!!!!
A loud bellow, like that of the ocean itself calling out, echoed through the bones of everyone as the sky over the arena suddenly darkened.
Looking up, a collective gasp escaped the entire crowd as they came face-to-body with what was perhaps the largest creature most of them would have ever seen.
With ocean-blue scales the size of buildings covering its immaculate form, and a myriad of tentacles making for terrifying limbs of destruction, the face of the thing couldn’t even be seen. But what could be seen was the shooting mass of tentacles aimed at the still-airborne youth.
"THRAXAN!!! YOU DARE!!!!" The other two youths roared out as their auras exploded, their bodies transforming as they charged at the tentacles and the monster overhead, but—
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Like flies, they, along with the first youth, were swatted out of the air, their limbs exploding in gore as they crashed into the earth below with a catastrophic crash.
BOOOOOOM!! The entire place rocked once more from the impact.
A brilliant blue light engulfed the massive beast as the shadow disappeared from the skies, the princess appearing right where the thing used to be.
She looked worse for wear. One of her arms dangled limply. Her hair was disheveled. There were still traces of blood at the corners of her lips, and one of her eyes had already closed shut.
She looked like a mess, but even then, she couldn’t have looked more...
"Beautiful..." I muttered before even realizing it.
"I’m sorry if I was a bit heavy-handed, but the lord had asked for no special treatment, and I could only oblige." Her cold voice, paired with her cold expression and that battle-worn look?
"Absolutely beautiful." This time, I said that with my full chest, and it seems I wasn’t the only one thoroughly impressed, as the moment her words settled—
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH!!!!
The crowd erupted into deafening cheers and then began the chants.
"JEWEL!! JEWEL!!! JEWEL!!"
I couldn’t blame them; she looked absolutely stunning and absolutely deserving. But like always, there would be that one person unsatisfied with a good thing.
"Well said, Princess. I couldn’t have said it better myself. Now I wonder if you could extend that treatment toward me?"
A new player had entered the field, but this time—
"Malachi..." I wasn’t going to let them play without me.
"Oh... finally!"
It was time to let the monkey loose.
"Heh!"
