Chapter 2666 - 2684: I Feel So Free

Just one night, James Black even thought of simply bringing Jane Sampson back to the base.

"I slept until daybreak, ate well, drank well, and slept well." Jane Sampson chuckled as she spoke honestly, "Without you around, I feel so free."

"Jane Sampson, you can laugh louder if you want, it’s okay, go ahead and laugh, even if it makes me mad, it’s fine." James Black gritted his teeth a bit.

"That won’t work, if you get mad to death, who will give me gifts in the future?" Jane Sampson hummed and shook her head, "Saying it like this, I feel I can’t let you get mad all at once, it has to be done slowly."

"Three days without a beating, and you’re up on the roof tearing tiles." James Black laughed softly, "Now that you’re pregnant, you’re even more like the mountain lady king, right? Are you going to declare yourself king when I come home this weekend?"

Jane Sampson laughed even more triumphantly.

Her laughter was full of pride, and James Black couldn’t help but laugh along, "As long as you’re happy, I’ll buy you a mountain to be the mountain king when I get back."

Jane Sampson laughed into her mobile phone almost like a madwoman.

This was definitely the most absurd romantic line she had ever heard James Black say.

Jane Sampson thought that one day, she might really be spoiled by James Black, spoiled to the point of becoming clueless about the height of the sky and thickness of the earth.

"James Black, why do I like you so much?" Jane Sampson called out to James sweetly, her voice oozing with a coquettish tone.

"Your affection for me is only worth twenty bucks." James Black was very self-aware. Jane Sampson had stayed at the Black Residence for a few days and spent time with the Great General. Feelings warmed up, but when he returned on the weekend, he might find himself ranked behind the Great General in Jane Sampson’s heart again. James was busy, but he still took time out to make a call to check on his wife after just one night apart. They talked for less than five minutes before hanging up.

Knowing Jane Sampson was happily settling in at the Black Residence and sleeping peacefully was enough to ease James Black’s mind.

"I finally understand what ’a day apart feels like three autumns’ means, Mr. Black is just that way with you now." Coco Edwards looked at Jane Sampson, "Why is this dog food so plentiful? I must be the world’s hardest assistant."

"How about you and Grid? Aren’t the two of you smitten when you’re together privately?" Jane Sampson leaned toward Coco Edwards, "When are you two planning on getting married?"

Jane Sampson said to Coco Edwards, "Since I’m pregnant and don’t have much work, you can take a breather and conveniently get married."

"Whether or not we marry, it’s not up to me; it mostly depends on when Grid proposes. But he’s recently started the company, and he’s super busy, probably doesn’t even have the time." Coco Edwards shrugged, "He’s also been traveling for business a lot recently, starting a business is never easy."

Coco Edwards sighed while saying this, "Sometimes it’s past two a.m., and he sends me a WhatsApp video, showing he’s just home from socializing, drunk, saying he misses me. I feel a bit reluctant at those times and want to tell him, ’Why not just come back? Don’t work so desperately, I’d be happy even with an ordinary life with him.’

Grid lost his parents early and was alone, while Coco Edwards, although having parents, was better off without them.

The first person in the world to give her warmth, was Jane Sampson.

Jane Sampson gave her a new life, courage to fight against fate.
