Chapter 709 - 60: Mercenary Group

As the baton swung down, Chen Chuan’s gaze lowered. His body remained motionless, but his left leg suddenly shot up, instantly colliding with the descending weapon.

The baton shattered with a CRACK, yet his kick seemed completely unaffected, continuing with its original momentum toward the man behind it.

The man’s pupils shrank. He hastily crossed his arms to block. The kick landed with incredible force, shoving his arms into his own face. BANG! His charging body was brought to a dead stop, and a visible shockwave erupted from the point of impact.

A moment later, with a BOOM, the man was sent flying backward like a cannonball, crashing into a house further down the street.

Despite the impact, the man was incredibly resilient. While still in mid-air, he reached out and dug his five fingers into a nearby concrete wall. With a loud GRIND, he carved five grooves into the wall, forcibly halting his momentum before dropping back to the ground with a THUD.

He exhaled, straightened his body, and slowly raised his head, glaring fiercely at Chen Chuan in the distance. At the same time, he shook his shoulders, and his solid, powerful arms trembled. A ring of dust instantly burst from his tensed muscles, creating an imposing sight.

He had trained a special kind of Power in his arms, which was why they appeared completely unharmed on the surface after blocking that kick.

But just as the Mutated Organization within his body gathered Power and he stepped forward to attack Chen Chuan again, his expression suddenly changed. His legs gave out from under him, and he stumbled forward a few steps as if treading on air before pitching forward. He caught himself on the ground with his arms and spat out a mouthful of blood.

Although his arms had seemed fine on the spot due to the high density of his Mutated Organization, the moment they made contact with Chen Chuan, a stream of Soft Force had already seeped into his body.

This Heart Force, which shared characteristics with String Void Force, had instantly destroyed most of the Mutated Organization inside him. He looked fine on the outside, but his insides were a complete wreck. He just hadn’t realized it yet due to the Power’s stealthy and delayed nature.

Chen Chuan didn’t spare him another glance. The man hadn’t even cultivated Heart Force. He had likely avoided the earlier Spiritual Shock because of some protective item and the fact that he was standing far away. Still, to dare and confront him head-on with just that... it was safe to say the man was overconfident.

The man seemed unwilling to give up. With a grunt, he forced himself to stand. But as he rose, his body trembled uncontrollably, and a CREAKING sound came from his bones, making it nearly impossible for him to stand straight. He kept trying, pushing himself up again and again. After a few attempts, his skin began to SNAP and CRACKLE as fissures appeared all over it, blood bursting from within.

Then his whole body convulsed, and he collapsed face-first onto the ground with a THUD, kicking up a cloud of dust. The whites of his eyes were showing; he had completely lost consciousness. Blood seeped out from under his skin, quickly forming a large pool.

Chen Chuan took a few steps forward and looked outside. He could see several people standing in two different locations, one to his left and one to his right. He first glanced to the left. There stood a man in sleeveless Protective Clothing, his skin a grayish-brown and his hair curly. In one hand, he held five dangling Soft Ropes. His arms and exposed muscles were a twisted, coiled mass, exuding a feral aura.

As he was sizing up this man, he suddenly sensed something and sidestepped. BOOM! A large hole blew open in the corner of the street. A metal Elixir Pill was embedded deep inside. The force behind it was no less than that of a cannonball—truly astonishing.

His gaze shifted. In another direction, less than two kilometers away, a young man stood on high ground. He wore windproof goggles, and next to him were piles of metal Throwing Pills, each stack half his height. He was currently lifting his chin, giving Chen Chuan a provocative look.

In front of this man stood an extremely stocky brute wearing an earring and a bandana. He seemed to be providing cover, holding a pitch-black Shield that looked very sturdy.

The young man reached out, picked up another Throwing Pill, and weighed it in his hand. Then, he spun on his feet, his arm whipping around as he hurled it toward Chen Chuan.

A SWOOSH tore through the air as the projectile rapidly grew larger in his vision.

Chen Chuan simply tilted his head, letting the projectile fly past. A moment later, the sound of a wall being pierced came from behind him, followed by a burst of dust and smoke.

He spoke calmly to his Realm Token, "An Shield, check the identities of these people."

"An Shield, received...

...searching for information."

In a few moments, a string of text and information appeared on his Realm Token, including some video clips and images.

He glanced at it. The people present all belonged to a group called the Garna Mercenary Corps, a well-known, large-scale mercenary organization within the Chiloga Federation.

This Mercenary Corps was less a corps and more a mercenary platform. It never had a fixed number of members, but it always had four core leaders. The video showed three men and one woman, all of them fierce and powerful, each with their own distinct characteristics. However, none of them had appeared tonight.

The ones he saw now were almost all recruited members. Perhaps because they had never operated in Dashun or appeared on any public information platforms, their specific identities weren’t displayed. A simple analysis suggested they were all local mercenaries and Fighters from Chiloga.

Only one person was different: the young man throwing the projectiles. He bore a strong resemblance to Radomir, one of the four core leaders, who was also famous for his Throwing Skill. Radomir’s name came from a local hero who, according to legend, used a Stone Throwing Rope to annihilate seven monsters on Kambana Mountain.

According to the information, Radomir had a very talented brother. If so, this young man was likely the key figure among the attackers who had come this time.

So, he looked directly at him.

The young man seemed to feel his gaze but assumed it was because his taunts had worked. He puffed out his chest flamboyantly, spread his arms, and spun in a circle to show off the muscles on his back and arms.

Chen Chuan stared straight ahead and took a step forward. The next instant, an explosive CRACK echoed through the air as his figure shot in that direction. The billboards and glass windows on the street vibrated with a loud HUM before shattering one after another. A trail of dust billowed up in his wake.

The brute providing cover in front of the thrower saw this and let out a great roar. He charged forward, raising his Shield to meet Chen Chuan head-on.

The scenery blurred past Chen Chuan. In an instant, he was in front of the brute. He threw a single punch, striking the Shield.

The brute’s eyes widened, veins bulging on his forehead. With a furious roar, he blocked with the Shield. THUD! Both men came to an abrupt halt. The pavement beneath their feet simultaneously exploded outward in a circle, and flying bits of gravel PINGED against the buildings on either side like bullets, blasting out small craters.

The brute’s arm muscles were now taut, looking as if they would burst through his Protective Clothing. His bandana had been blown off in the violent collision of Power. Veins throbbed on his forehead, and his earring trembled, but he remained frozen in his defensive stance. It looked as if he had blocked the attack.

Chen Chuan retracted his fist, straightened up, and walked around the man, continuing on his way.

The brute remained motionless. But after a moment, his Shield CRACKED and shattered into pieces. His body began to tremble, as if blood was surging upward, and his face turned crimson. A moment later, with a POP, his head exploded. His headless corpse swayed twice before toppling to the side.

The young man across the way saw this, and his pupils contracted for an instant, but he showed no signs of backing down. He began to rapidly flick the metal Throwing Pills beside him.

He used not only his hands but also his feet, sweeping them out as his body spun continuously. His movements were so fast they were like a phantom. The Throwing Pills flew out like a torrential downpour. The stacks beside him, which had been nearly half his height, rapidly shrank. The air filled with WHOOSHING sounds.

Chen Chuan watched the trajectories of the Throwing Pills and casually batted them aside with one hand.

His opponent, in exchange for speed, seemed to have sacrificed accuracy. Many of the projectiles didn’t land on Chen Chuan but instead slammed into the surrounding buildings, exploding with the force of actual cannonballs. Chunks were blown off buildings on both sides, and one entire wall collapsed.

Seeing that this wasn’t stopping Chen Chuan, the young man ceased his barrage. He seemed to regulate his breathing, taking a deep breath as he looked to the sky. Then, he took just one Throwing Pill. He crossed his legs, leaned his body forward, and extended the arm holding the pill backward. His other hand was held out in front, fingers raised, pointing toward his own face.

The pose was as beautiful as a dancer’s. The muscles of his body rippled like flowing water. A moment later, he Emitted Force from his entire body and spun on the spot with a sudden whirl, seemingly rotating dozens of times in a single instant. He came to an abrupt stop and flung his arm forward!

In that instant, as Power transferred through layer after layer of muscle, all of his strength converged on that single Throwing Pill. Finally, the Mutated Organization at the tips of his extremities also engaged. You could see his fingertips push forward with a flexible grace, his body leaning into a posture of perfect mechanical beauty. In that moment, even his hair and sweat flew forward.

This throw far surpassed his previous limits. It seemed to have drawn upon a sliver of his spirit, which focused on the projectile as it shot forward in an instant.

But in the next moment, a hand reached out. Five fingers closed around the metal Elixir Pill with a SNAP. Only then did the roaring BOOM spread through the air.
