Chapter 691 - 42: Rectifying the Anomaly

A notification chimed from his Realm Token. Chen Chuan was surprised to see that two more students had purchased his course. ’That fast? It’s been less than three minutes, hasn’t it?’

However, he knew that some well-off students might subscribe to every teacher’s course and then sift through them to find the one that best suited them.

This wasn’t a useless approach, because even if a teacher’s instructional skills were excellent, it didn’t guarantee they could help a student improve. The best path was finding what was a perfect fit for oneself.

He checked the students who had purchased the course and was surprised to find they were two acquaintances. What’s more, both of them were currently free. ’In that case...’

He tapped his Realm Token. "Hong Fu, I need a classroom. Let’s schedule it for half an hour from now."

A moment later, Hong Fu’s voice replied, "Manager Chen, the students have been notified and have confirmed. You have been assigned Training Ground Four on the eighty-second floor. The class will begin at 9:30."

Chen Chuan said, "Alright, Hong Fu. Thank you."

There was a brief pause from the Realm Token, then Hong Fu’s voice, originally somewhat flat, became more human.

"You’re welcome."

Chen Chuan returned to his dorm and put away the teacher’s ID and uniform that had been delivered. Then he went out and took the elevator, arriving early at the spacious and bright Training Ground.

For some reason, he suddenly thought of Teacher Xue. ’It’s probably because Teacher Xue’s teaching ability was so outstanding.’

’Yeah, that must be it.’

He first looked through Fan’s and Kong’s files, then watched their previous recordings and potential tests. Before long, he had a clear picture of their situation.

Less than twenty minutes later, Fan Cheng and Kong Yao walked in from outside. They saw Chen Chuan with his back to them, standing before the long, wide window of the training room.

For some reason, upon seeing that tall, straight back, a sense of nervousness suddenly rose within them. But it wasn’t the awkwardness they had anticipated from the role reversal; instead, they naturally fell into the mindset of students.

Chen Chuan turned around. "Fan, Kong, hello."

"Teacher Chen, hello." The two of them quickly bowed.

Chen Chuan said, "I’ve looked over your files. Last semester, you sought out no fewer than twelve teachers and trained under seven of them. Each time, you made a little progress, but you quickly stagnated. So now you’re looking for a way to improve."

"Yes, that’s right."

Fan Cheng said, "We’ve been looking for a teacher who suits us, but we haven’t found one yet, so..." He collected himself. "So we wanted to try our luck with you, Teacher Chen."

Chen Chuan nodded. "Show me what you’ve learned."

Fan Cheng and Kong Yao glanced at each other. Almost every teacher they met asked them to do this, so they were very familiar with the routine. The two immediately separated to face each other and began a sparring sequence.

Chen Chuan had already extended his Spiritual Domain, instantly enveloping the two of them. He could observe their every movement, every breath, and every wisp of their Mutated Organizations in operation with perfect clarity.

The Domain could present a nearly complete picture of a person’s internal information, while his Spiritual Power allowed him to clearly perceive their current moods and mental states.

With these abilities, their conditions were almost transparent to him. At this moment, his understanding of their physical states was even deeper than their own.

However, this only worked on Fighters beneath his level. If he encountered a Fighter of the same level who understood even a few Domain techniques, their information would be sealed, making it very difficult to perceive any specifics.

He watched for a while, then said, "Alright, that’s enough. You can stop."

At his word, they stopped, both of them feeling a little apprehensive.

Chen Chuan said, "I think I know where the root of the problem lies. Your issue isn’t a lack of talent. On the contrary, it’s because your talent is actually quite good."

Fan and Kong were stunned. ’Good talent?’ Since enrolling, their studies had always been a struggle, and they’d even come to doubt themselves. They had never heard a single teacher say they had good talent.

Chen Chuan said, "Your talent lies in the high adaptability of your Mutated Organizations. You can pick up any technique almost immediately, which means your initial progress is often faster than others’. But to master a technique requires sufficient patience and dedicated study."

Fan Cheng scratched his head, frustrated. "We tried to stick with it, but the progress was too slow. It couldn’t compare to our initial gains, and we actually fell further behind the more we practiced."

"That’s right," Kong Yao said. "But when we picked a new course, we would progress quickly again, and it would even complement what we’d learned before."

Chen Chuan said, "That’s because your Mutated Organizations have wide coverage, but they’re broad without being strong—they’re scattered and weak. Therefore, they are highly adaptable when it comes to basic techniques. But when you try to delve deeper into a specific point, especially when focusing your study, you only utilize a portion of your Mutated Organizations. The rest are effectively abandoned.

Others, however, can train their entire Mutated Organization in a single direction. In such a comparison, how could you possibly outperform them? The more you train, the further you fall behind.

Conversely, by broadly learning different techniques, you involved your entire Mutated Organization, which indirectly stimulated its growth. That’s why you were still able to make progress. But if this situation isn’t corrected soon—if you don’t get your Mutated Organization to participate in holistic training—then once your growth period is over, there will be almost no chance for you to correct it on your own."

Fan Cheng and Kong Yao were stunned as they listened. It was the first time they had ever heard such an assessment of themselves. Thinking back on their past experiences, it made a lot of sense. The more they thought about it, the more they felt it had to be true.

Kong Yao said, sounding a bit aggrieved, "But no teacher has ever told us this before."

Fan Cheng nodded repeatedly. Before Chen Chuan, no other teacher had been able to explain it so clearly.

’It’s not that those teachers couldn’t see the problem,’ Chen Chuan thought. ’Especially since Fan Cheng and Kong Yao have had potential tests and physicals. The other teachers must have seen the reports, but they probably couldn’t solve the issue.’

’Most teachers specialize in only one type of Power. In that situation, they had no choice but to teach what they knew, which was at least somewhat useful.’

’Besides, many teachers only care if their students meet the passing standard. As long as there are immediate results, that’s good enough. How far they could go in the future wasn’t their concern.’

So, he didn’t answer her question. Instead, he said, "In this situation, you need to perform corrective and integrative training for your Mutated Organizations as a whole, rather than rushing to train any specific Power or techniques.

"But this will take time—at least one or two months. I can help you, but if you agree, you’ll need to practice according to my methods during this period and give up all your other courses.

"If you can do that, you can stay. If not, I’ll just use these two sessions to teach you some useful techniques."

Fan and Kong hesitated. If they studied with Chen Chuan, it would mean falling two months behind the other students. Two months... ’Can we still catch up? Can we still pass the upcoming assessment?’

Chen Chuan didn’t rush them, just stood there quietly, waiting for them to make a decision.

Fan Cheng and Kong Yao discussed it via their Realm Tokens. Finally, Fan Cheng grit his teeth and said, "Teacher Chen, we’ve decided to study with you."

They made this decision partly because Chen Chuan had seen the root of their problem at a glance, and partly because their progress was becoming less and less noticeable. They felt that if they continued as they were, they would definitely not be able to catch up to their classmates, so they might as well give this a try.

Seeing their decision, Chen Chuan tapped his Realm Token, and a course listing appeared on their own. They didn’t hesitate any longer. With an all-or-nothing attitude, they subscribed to his two-month course.

Chen Chuan called the two of them over. He then pointed out various parts of their bodies and had them regulate their breathing according to his instructions. He also demonstrated several Strength Posture movements for them.

Then he had them practice according to his method.

The two immediately began to practice diligently. After just over half an hour, their torsos and limbs felt incredibly sore and numb, which was very uncomfortable. But after a little while, that feeling was replaced by a refreshing, unobstructed sensation.

They could clearly feel their entire Mutated Organizations taking part—an experience they’d never had before.

Their eyes lit up, and they exchanged a look of pleasant surprise.

’It seems like it’s really working!’

The things Chen Chuan taught them—the Strength Postures and breathing techniques—were all tailored to their specific characteristics.

He practiced the Circulation Technique, which allowed him to simulate, imitate, and understand the operational changes of any Mutated Organization and various types of Power, and thus know how to adjust and correct them.

Ordinary teachers, on the other hand, could only teach based on their own fixed experiences. But everyone is different; one person’s experience can’t be applied to everyone. Even if such methods produced a graduate, they would only be a mediocrity whose own strengths and unique traits had been ground down.

These two were currently only at the Second Limit. In his view, the growth of their Mutated Organizations was still superficial, so there was still a chance to correct it. With the right adjustments and training, they could get back on the right path.

After feeling the benefits, Fan Cheng and Kong Yao started training on their own without needing his prompting. At first, they still needed Chen Chuan to help with corrections, but after a few repetitions, they became familiar with the movements.

Chen Chuan said, "That’s all for today’s class. When you get back, be sure to use your medication. Given the strength of your Mutated Organizations, you can’t train for more than three hours a day. For the rest of the time, make sure you get enough rest to allow your Mutated Organizations to recover.

"When you no longer feel that soreness and numbness, come find me again. In the meantime, if there’s anything you don’t understand or if you run into any problems, you can send me a message."

"Thank you, Teacher!"

Fan Cheng and Kong Yao gave him a sincere bow.

At that moment, they no longer saw him as a former classmate at all. Instead, they treated him as a truly respectable teacher.

After the two of them left, Chen Chuan reflected for a moment. He realized that with skills like the Circulation Technique and Spiritual Domain, teaching wasn’t actually that difficult.

Especially for these Second Limit students. He felt that even for someone lacking talent, he could help them find a suitable path.

Of course, talent determined their upper limit. Even with abundant resources, the most he could do was help them reach the absolute limit of their own potential.

But even that was pretty good.

He suddenly found great enjoyment in teaching, especially from watching flawed and struggling individuals grow under his guidance. It brought a great sense of accomplishment.

Huh?

He suddenly discovered that the overlap between his Second Self and his true self had actually deepened slightly. ’Is it because of the resonance from self-satisfaction and joy?’

A thought crossed his mind. ’Perhaps my old friends and classmates could also use some detailed guidance right now.’
