Chapter 1671: Chapter 822: Another Year (10,000-Word Update!)_3

Yuk Chu said, "Sister Lan, you can sign a few actors and singers from different age groups than ours."

Zhou Lan: "I’ve thought about it. Without mentioning singers, I’ve never dealt with that area, and I’m a bit apprehensive, not knowing how to manage them. More seasoned actors actually don’t have high cost-performance ratios. They’re generally harder to promote, like how Mr. You Jiang and Ms. Jiang Yuzhen suddenly became popular middle-aged actors. It’s rare to find opportunities like that, unlike younger actors for whom you can design a clear path. But if we don’t plan out their careers and just sign them and find them roles, it would be irresponsible. I hope the actors in our studio can all be nurtured. Besides, middle-aged actors aren’t as simple as younger ones. They’ve all been in the business for a long time. I’m not judging good or bad, but they often have their own perceptions and are more stubborn than younger actors, making them harder to collaborate with."

Yuk Chu: "I’ve met a few actors while filming who’ve been acting for years but never became popular. Some just work with one agent independently. It’s a shame that they don’t have a large agency or film company to plan for them. In recent years, quite a few middle-aged actors have actually become popular, haven’t they? Audiences are becoming more rational, appreciating good actors, even if they’re not particularly good-looking. They can win audiences over with just a role."

"Indeed, I’ll consider it further." Zhou Lan sighed.

The studio is indeed facing an awkward situation. It’s neither big nor small. It has a superstar like Zhou Yun, and Yuk Chu and Wang Jing are nearly A-list, along with Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting, who are slowly being recognized, making the actor lineup comparable to that of a medium-sized agency.

"Oh, right. Sister Xiao Yun mentioned meeting a good action movie actor while filming ’Female Assassin.’ She told me about him and said if a suitable role comes up, I should recommend him." Yuk Chu said. "His name is Liu Gang, do you know him?"

"Xiao Yun mentioned him to me." Zhou Lan said, "I’ve talked with him. He’s not currently free. I wanted to sign him since we don’t have that type of actor, but he’s already with another company, so we can’t sign him."

"That’s a pity."

"Yes." Zhou Lan said, "However, he mentioned that he’s not very satisfied with his current company, and he’s willing to join us once his contract ends."

Yuk Chu nodded.

...

On the ’Killing Song’ set, after several frustrating days, Lily Cruise finally reconciled with the director.

Nakajima Hoto played a huge role in that.

Zhou Yun was thinking about Nakajima Hoto and Chris Pine’s situation. That day at noon, while having lunch together, Zhou Yun saw Chris Pine with a tray approaching, and she waved him over to join them.

Nakajima Hoto’s face turned red instantly.

Before Zhou Yun realized this situation, Nakajima Hoto masked it well. Now that Zhou Yun knew, every time she mentioned Chris Pine, Nakajima Hoto’s face would flush.

Zhou Yun finally understood why some men love teasing a girl, watching her get embarrassed.

She also liked doing it now...

"Chris, I remember you telling us you’re currently single, right?" Zhou Yun asked with a smile.

Chris Pine nodded, "Yeah."

He looked at them, puzzled, asking, "Why the sudden question?"

Zhou Yun said, "Nothing much, just confirming with you."

Chris Pine asked, "Are you planning to introduce a girlfriend? Oh, I’ve heard that you Asians are keen on matchmaking. Didn’t expect it to be true."

Zhou Yun: "..."

She didn’t anticipate being teased.

Zhou Yun said, "I have no such intention. Don’t accuse me, I’m just a friend showing concern, purely curious."

Chris Pine nodded absentmindedly, clearly not believing Zhou Yun’s ’innocence.’

Nakajima Hoto focused on her meal, too embarrassed to look up.

"Oh, right." Zhou Yun suddenly remembered something, "I heard a new movie starring George Hardy just came out, should we go see it together?"
