Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Reporting Scores

[Damn, I knew Renee Morgan’s aim was bad, but I didn’t think it could get THIS bad. She only hit the target once? The rest all missed completely?]

[Confirmed, confirmed, there’s only one bullet hole. The rest definitely missed. What do I do, I literally just supported Renee Morgan and now I feel so embarrassed, it’s like getting slapped in the face.]

[With this kind of aim, they’re letting her be the sniper? Is this a joke?]

[Suggestion: just swap Renee Morgan with Sean from Group 1. At least he shot a 49, almost perfect.]

[LOL, I’m dying. The whole internet is hyping up how amazing Renee Morgan is, and I came to the livestream specifically to watch. Yeah, the instructor did give Renee a big title, but—damn, now you’re telling me Renee only scored a 10? This is the so-called all-star sniper? Meanwhile, our Mercenary Guild’s Sean got a 49, and he’s only a ’captive’? Hilarious. So amazing, so amazing, I am truly impressed by paid influencers and their ability to hype.]

[Ugh, I told you guys she only got here thanks to powerful connections, but no one believed me. Now her persona collapsed, feeling disgusted yet?]

[I’m like, a long-time fan of this show. Been watching since it first aired—never missed an episode. It was really great at first, but lately it’s just all about Renee Morgan. The Group 1 members are obviously stronger, but not a single one of them gets the base pass. And then Renee just gets the base pass easy, plus the most important sniper role. The more I watch, the harder it is. I hope the writers don’t go overboard, because this show’s popularity wasn’t easy to earn.]

[...]

International fans just couldn’t believe their goddess had "fallen from grace," so some even grabbed a magnifying glass to comb through the livestream footage for more bullet holes.

And, to their shock, they actually found something odd.

Renee Morgan’s target sheet only had one 10-point bullet hole, but that bullet hole... seems different, somehow?

[...]

Zara Chapman double-checked and, confirming there was only one hole, finally couldn’t hold back her laughter: "Wow, Renee Morgan is amazing. She actually managed to shoot a perfect ten. With skills like this, she’s definitely worthy of being our sniper."

Silence.

Everyone looked at each other, unsure of how to comfort Renee Morgan.

Lynn Miller wanted Zara to knock it off and quit being so sarcastic, but seeing Renee’s calm face, she just shut her mouth. If a fight broke out, Renee would just end up looking even worse.

Zara’s slender fingers gripped her other elbow, chin raised lazily, looking at the instructor: "Instructor, Renee Morgan only fired one shot just now, right? And she scored a ten with that one shot. Isn’t it only fair to let her finish her other four shots?"

"Zara—" Lynn Miller couldn’t hold herself back, but Miles Yates tugged her sleeve, signaling her to chill.

Lynn was fuming. Zara knew perfectly well Renee had already shot five times; there were no "other four" left to shoot.

The instructor’s sharp gaze locked on Zara, voice cool: "Renee Morgan already fired all five shots."

Ha! Zara laughed out loud, looking down at the target and then at Renee, not bothering to hide her contempt: "With scores like that, you have the nerve to take the sniper spot?"

Silence.

Everyone else found it hard to even look at Renee Morgan’s reaction.

Zara’s words landed like bitter slaps, one after another—in your face.

Renee Morgan lifted her eyes to look back at her, face steady and calm, black eyes glittering cold and faintly aloof. Her posture unshaken, she said flatly: "Whether I get the sniper position or not—it’s not up to you."

Zara choked, her face twisting uncomfortably before she forced herself to smirk, chirping, "Oh really? Then tell us, who gets to decide, since you’re so damn confident?"

Zara’s words set off another eruption in the livestream chat. Turned out Renee really did have some bigwig backing her.

Renee’s luminous black eyes swept coolly across the room: "Naturally, it’s all about skill!"

Zara let out a snorting laugh, covering her mouth, like Renee just said the most ridiculous thing ever.

Everyone thought Renee meant her "skill" was just getting the base pass.

No one expected the usually cautious Renee to drop such a bold, almost arrogant line today. Lynn Miller and Miles Yates were both sweating for her.

You couldn’t really blame Renee—Zara provoked her first. Anyone would be pissed.

But this was all on camera, and talking like that could easily backfire. The worried looks on their faces said it all.

Livestream viewers already weren’t happy with Renee Morgan. Now, hearing her brag like that, acting all smug, they were pissed.

[Is this... what they mean by "big boobs, no brain"? Give me a break—getting a base pass is one thing, being a sniper is another. Like, if you can’t do the job, don’t take the role! Five shots, four missed, and you dare say you’ve got the skill for this? Puh-lease.]

[This show is a trainwreck. I cannot watch anymore. Putting this kind of airhead as sniper? If I were on their team I’d be coughing up blood.]

[If there’s a script, production better edit it quick. Otherwise, the show’s reputation is gonna nosedive.]

[Morgan must’ve snapped to say something like that.]

[Renee, take a deep breath—we still believe in you.]

[Guys... is it possible her five shots made one bullet hole, all tens??]

[Stop trying to spin it, okay? She didn’t look pissed at all—she said that with pure boss energy, totally confident. No panic whatsoever.]

[Ha. Where does that confidence come from? Obviously from the powerful folks backing her. Otherwise, Zara wouldn’t be stirring things up like this. Everyone knows Renee’s got serious connections. The whole show’s just her backdrop.]

[...] As for the idea that she scored all five tens in one bullet hole? Come on, no one in their right mind would believe something that insane.

The atmosphere at the scene was getting weird.

Zara was laughing, hand over her mouth, and her laughter was downright mean.

Lynn Miller and Miles Yates were both frustrated and helpless.

Kyle Beckett, Gael Prescott, and Lionel Lincoln just looked lost.

The Group 1 members kept quiet, brows deeply furrowed, clearly lost in thought.

Finally, the camera cut to the instructor, his glare still sharp as ever as he swept his eyes across the crowd. He said nothing, just waved a hand, signaling for the shooting range inspector to report the scores.

The inspector came over, crouched down, pen and paper ready, jotted it down, then handed the slip to the instructor.

The instructor waved it away, indicating, "No need, just announce it."

This was an exclusive Z nation training ground. The inspector announced in Z language: "Five shots. Each one: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10—total score: 50. Report complete!"

Stunned silence!

Everyone’s eyes moved slowly up, then down, staring at the inspector in disbelief.

The inspector frowned, realizing some of them didn’t understand Z language, and simply repeated the scores in English.
