Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Surviving to the End

The two men ate apples while watching Renee Morgan, seemingly considering what to do with her.

Renee felt awkward. When she went to wash the apples, she thought about running, but it was the middle of the night—where could she possibly go? If she ran into a pack of animals, she’d be out anyway. Looking at the two guys, they didn’t seem completely unreasonable.

Well, they kind of were unreasonable for kicking Taylor and the others out, but at least they gave her a chance to prove herself, right?

They ate with such pleasing manners, but they weren’t slow. They quickly finished their apples.

Renee politely said again, "I’ll go wash a couple more..."

The two guys, upon closer look, were actually quite different, aside from both being tall, skinny, and having that quirky vibe. One was handsome, eyes twinkling with bits of starlight—outshining even some top domestic celebrities. The other was more elegant and cool, almost aloof, and less talkative.

They shook their heads, took out tissues, wiped their mouths, then their hands, and glanced at her casually.

Renee thought for a moment, then decided to introduce herself: "I’m Renee Morgan, from Z Country, and I’m in show business."

The handsome guy gave her another look and said, "Jay Monroe."

The elegant guy was quiet for a moment before saying, "Hugh."

Neither said where they were from or what they did—let alone any other details—but Renee was still happy.

"Nice to meet you guys," Renee said, her smile freezing again. This encounter wasn’t exactly pleasant, honestly.

Jay Monroe stared at her stiff smile and couldn’t help but snicker.

Hugh shot him a glance but stayed silent; the coldness on his face faded a little.

Jay looked at Renee, noticed how she suddenly tensed up, and said, "Relax, we’re not cannibals."

Renee: "..." Now she was even more worried.

Jay chuckled again. How could there be such a frank girl? She made people want to get closer.

Hugh looked at him again, then dropped a comment and walked away: "I’m going to sleep."

Jay sighed and watched the monkey following Hugh, calling after him, "I’m not sleeping with the monkey."

Hugh glanced back at the tent beside.

That was the tent Renee had just crawled out of—his meaning was clear.

Renee, newly rested, quickly caught on: "You two sleep, I’ll keep watch."

Jay liked smart women, but they were usually too self-centered. Renee wasn’t exactly smart, but she was sharp enough and very perceptive. The key was, she had none of that spoiled pride or excessive self-importance. Being with her was rougher than with most girls, but she had a fun little streak and was easy-going—more so than most bros.

So Jay and Hugh, totally unapologetic, went off for some good sleep.

Renee sat by the campfire, tossing in logs now and then, occasionally putting on mosquito repellent. Once everything was settled, she lounged back on a rock, super relaxed.

The viewers in the livestream didn’t expect Renee to survive by basically lying low and staying put.

[Excuse me, are all men really just about looks??]

[Nonsense! Our Renee is a street-smart woman. Who doesn’t like someone who gets the situation?]

[If you wanna talk looks, I wanna jump ship! Ah! These two guys are so hot. Forget national celebrities—there’s no one in all of Aethel who can compete. And they’re strong too! Even The Boxing King’s fists aren’t as hard as theirs. When they step in, they wipe out entire gangs in one go. Beauty and strength, a winning combo.]

The main camera just switched to Sean—they all just saw what happened.

The two men moved without blinking, not wasting a word, and forced them to blow the whistle, or else they’d break their hands and legs.

No killing allowed in the forest base, but injuring people was fine—not illegal.

If Renee hadn’t read the room, that’s probably what would’ve happened to her too.

[Girls, looks like I’m not the only one eyeing these gods. I just want Renee to stick with them so I can keep admiring them.]

The livestream camera followed group members, and right now, only Renee was left in the forest base.

[Women just don’t get it. Those two clearly aren’t good people—probably top-tier international killers. Aren’t you worried about them crashing and burning?]

This comment made the stream’s fangirls fall silent for a while.

Yeah, those two cleaned up a whole group in just a few minutes; everyone was forced to blow their whistle before they even realized what was happening.

Can Renee manage to stick it out till the end?

Viewers overseas didn’t expect their superstars—Mercenary Guild, The Godfather, The Boxing King—to be wiped out so easily by two mysterious guys.

Sigh. Yet again, they overestimated their favorites.

Renee managing to stay was also a surprise.

They’d already hyped up Z Country kung fu. Renee was someone who showed up with that mythology attached. But they knew Renee couldn’t beat The Godfather’s crew. Those guys were huge—almost two meters tall, full-on pros, big teams. Renee could KO one, but facing several? No way.

Honestly, Renee got through mostly thanks to luck.

[Renee is the goddess of luck today.] 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

[Anyone else looking forward to seeing Renee fight them?]

[Obviously, Renee would win.]

[Yep yep, Renee doesn’t swing her fists lightly—when she does, it’s a bombshell.]

[Folks, do you think there’s a chance these two noticed Renee’s skill, so they didn’t make a move?]

[Exactly, that’s probably it. Bro, you’re a genius.]

[...] Wasn’t it that Renee just played it safe?

Chinese netizens: [...] Already knew these people are die-hard Renee fans, so what’s the point of sending comments?

Renee lay around for a while, then got up, grabbed an apple and munched away.

Her eating wasn’t exactly graceful—her cheeks puffed out as she contemplated things, big wet eyes drifting everywhere. When the wolf pack approached, it scared the heck out of her.

Thank goodness she was by the campfire. Renee quickly grabbed a torch from the fire, shouted the two guys’ names, and stood guard by the tent door.

Jay Monroe and Hugh had just fallen into deep sleep. Hearing her, they sprang up lightning-fast and came to the door, seeing Renee with her back to them.

Renee turned and hurriedly said, "Wolf pack’s coming. Grab torches—they’re scared of fire."

Jay Monroe and Hugh didn’t budge, just walked out past her and headed for the wolves, stopping a meter away.

Renee stared open-mouthed at them. Are they nuts? Or are they so confident the wolves can’t hurt them?
