Cast as the Foil, She Went Viral on a Military Reality Show
Chapter 53: Turning the Tables
Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Turning the Tables
She leaned in close to Renee Morgan and spoke in a low voice: "I just heard someone coming from outside. Ms. Chapman and I helped you guys hide that half biscuit ahead of time. Once they leave, we’ll give it back to you."
Normally, no one would make a fuss—after all, if the biscuits ended up in that group’s hands, they’d never get them back, but if they stayed with their own people, maybe not. Renee Morgan was no exception, right?
Of course, whether she and Zara would actually return the biscuits after those people left was another matter entirely.
When the time came, they could just say the biscuits were lost—what could Renee Morgan and Lynn Miller do to them?
Renee Morgan wasn’t stupid; she didn’t believe Wendy Aldridge’s nonsense. If she really just wanted to help her and Lynn Miller hide the biscuits to save them from thieves, then why did Zara have such a guilty reaction?
They were just taking advantage of the chaos to steal her and Lynn’s biscuits, weren’t they?
Renee Morgan suddenly realized why she had found their behavior so strange before bed. Before entering the base’s forest, Zara always complained about dorm beds being hard—so why would she lay on a pile of dry grass without reacting? Turns out she’d known there would be a food robbery tonight all along?
But how did they know?
There was another suspicious point. How did these people know her name? Even if they knew she grabbed that girl’s tool bag, they shouldn’t know her name. And to keep repeating that she was good at fighting—that was just bizarre...
Linking this with Wendy Aldridge’s restless, shifty movements, Renee Morgan’s face instantly turned dark. She had a bold suspicion that it was very likely these people were brought here by them.
Wendy Aldridge and Zara Chapman had run out of food. If someone came to steal it, it wouldn’t hurt them at all—on the contrary, everyone else would have to hand over their own supplies.
If things turned violent tonight, even if no one died, someone would get hurt. Judging by Wendy Aldridge and Zara Chapman’s behavior this morning at the forest entrance, they’d definitely take the chance to run away.
These two are truly selfish to the extreme.
"Morgan..." Lynn Miller called out to Renee Morgan again as she stayed silent.
Renee Morgan’s cold eyes lifted to her: "Are both our compressed biscuits gone?"
Lynn Miller nodded. She’d checked several times. Strangely, neither of their half biscuits could be found.
Wendy Aldridge glanced at the calm-faced Renee Morgan, thinking she’d caved, and smirked secretly. But she cut in out loud: "Didn’t you guys eat them already? What biscuits could be left? We haven’t got any, either."
She even winked at Lynn Miller in a suggestive way.
Lynn Miller was confused and looked toward Renee Morgan, not saying anything for the moment.
Renee Morgan ignored Wendy Aldridge’s signals and said, "Lynn and I had half a biscuit left. We hadn’t finished it."
Lynn Miller nodded in agreement: "Yeah, I always kept mine in my bag. How could it just disappear?"
Renee Morgan sighed. "Mine is gone, too."
Wendy Aldridge’s expression froze instantly. What did Renee Morgan mean by this?
Did she still want that half biscuit or not?
"How could the biscuits be gone?" Julian Prescott asked in confusion.
Miles Yates said, "Yeah, maybe they fell out of your bag?"
Lynn Miller remained silent, clearly thinking that was unlikely.
But Renee Morgan replied, "Impossible. I checked before bed. The biscuits were always in my bag."
Miles Yates looked even more puzzled. "Then it got lost when you guys were sleeping. The four of you slept together..." He seemed to realize what he was implying about the other two girls and suddenly stopped.
With Miles Yates’s reminder, everyone’s eyes turned to Wendy Aldridge and Zara Chapman.
Wendy Aldridge regretted ever saying those things to Renee Morgan. She’d thought Renee would keep quiet for the sake of their food—the whole group needed to unite against outsiders now.
She never imagined Renee would be so ruthless, exposing everything—deliberately making her and Zara look like thieves on camera?
That would ruin their acting careers for half a biscuit. Was it worth it? Renee Morgan was too vicious.
Wendy Aldridge let out a sharp gasp, drawing everyone’s attention. Tears welled up instantly, her wide eyes accusingly fixed on Renee Morgan: "Renee Morgan, you...how could you be like this? You said you were worried about your food being unsafe and asked me to keep it for you. I only hid it so it wouldn’t get stolen... Now you’re making it look like I stole from you."
Zara was still trying to figure out what to do when she heard Wendy’s words. She pulled the biscuit out from her bra: "That’s right, Wendy said Renee asked her to do it. She even gave me half a biscuit to keep. Why are you making us look like thieves? I wouldn’t have helped if I’d known this would happen."
She folded her arms across her chest, face dark, glaring at Renee Morgan with deep resentment.
How could she not be angry? Renee would rather hand the food to those bandit foreigners than her own people—so infuriating.
Lionel Lincoln saw how upset they were and quickly tried to smooth things over: "This is a misunderstanding, it’ll clear up if you talk about it. You guys couldn’t have stolen anything. Renee probably just forgot."
Unbelievable! Renee Morgan "forgot"? Wasn’t that basically saying she deliberately framed Wendy and Zara for theft?
Renee Morgan was so angry her brow twitched. There were no cameras in the tent—they had no proof whether it was stolen, or she’d willingly given it to them.
"I would never give biscuits to Wendy Aldridge, and I’d never give Lynn’s food to someone else without asking her first." Renee Morgan said sharply.
Huge tears rolled down Wendy Aldridge’s cheeks as she bit her lip stubbornly. "Renee, I know you hate me, but that doesn’t mean you have to get revenge like this. You’re ruining Zara’s and my reputation."
Renee Morgan looked at her coldly. "Whether you stole them, or I gave them to you—framing you on purpose—only you two know the truth in your hearts."
Lynn Miller suddenly realized what was going on, staring at Wendy and Zara in shock: "That’s why you two were dawdling in the tent for so long—you were looking for the biscuits, huh?"
Zara instantly panicked. "What do you mean looking for biscuits? I was...just organizing my clothes. I didn’t steal your biscuit." (What she actually stole was Renee Morgan’s.)
Seeing that the outsiders were growing impatient, Renee Morgan stretched her hand toward Wendy Aldridge: "Where’s the biscuit?"
Wendy Aldridge flushed, pulling the half biscuit from her chest. She and Zara had thought it was the safest place.
Renee Morgan handed all their biscuits to the others. "This is all our food. Take it, but don’t hurt my teammates."
Once they took the biscuits and confirmed nothing was hidden, they left decisively. As they were leaving, one of them glanced at Renee Morgan: "Renee Morgan, we’re impressed by you. If you want, I’m officially inviting you to join our team now."
Wendy Aldridge hadn’t expected these big guys would actually say so much to Renee Morgan, and with such a kind attitude. Weren’t they supposed to catch her and give her a beating?
