Cast as the Foil, She Went Viral on a Military Reality Show
Chapter 27: Reversal
Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Reversal
Wendy Aldridge thought of that kind of crazy scene, her whole body was shaking a bit, she gently pushed open the door, then let out a piercing scream.
That scream didn’t just echo through the live stream; even Lynn Miller and the others came running over. Everyone was getting ready to go downstairs and gather, but suddenly heard the commotion and all crowded around.
"What happened? What happened?" Lynn Miller grabbed Wendy’s arm, speaking nervously.
Wendy was already covering her eyes, hurriedly pushing the door open, yelling shrilly, "Renee was just in there...hugging with...with someone..."
BANG! The door slammed hard against the wall, making a huge noise.
Lynn and the others stared in shock, dumbfounded on the spot.
Thinking of that hot and spicy scene, Wendy seemed a bit overly excited herself.
"Waaa... Stop filming, stop filming, Renee...Renee just had a moment of weakness, I’ve warned her so many times, but she just won’t listen." Wendy cried pretty tears to the camera, acting so disappointed and exasperated.
Lynn spoke speechlessly, "Wendy, stop making stuff up, Morgan..."
"Ms. Miller, I know you and Renee are close, we all want what’s best for her. She’s always been... kinda ambiguous with certain people in private, I’ve always helped her cover it up, I warned her so many times, but she just wouldn’t listen..." Wendy sobbed, looking back at Lynn with teary eyes, then shot a disappointed glance into the room. She hadn’t even pulled her gaze away when her eyes suddenly went wide.
"In...Instructor?" Wendy felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped over her from head to toe. Why the hell was the drill instructor in Renee Morgan’s dorm?
Thinking of that unlocked door, Wendy’s scalp tingled; she wished she could swallow all her words back.
"Ambiguous, you said?" The instructor walked right up to her, his sharp gaze boring down, exuding a crushing aura.
"N-not the instructor, no." Wendy bit her tongue, voice trembling.
"So who exactly was Renee Morgan ambiguous with?" The instructor pressed, demanding an answer.
"It was...Renee and..." Wendy tried to brazen it out, glancing into the room—only to find that Morgan’s assigned PD wasn’t there, so she didn’t even have a chance to frame someone.
"WHO?" The instructor’s no-nonsense attitude left her no room to dodge.
"Not the instructor, definitely not. I can’t...say, sorry, I just thought it was someone else." Wendy knew with the cameras rolling, she could never admit she’d just made everything up. She had to insist Renee really did have someone ambiguous.
The livestream chat was watching Wendy’s performance, while also quietly keeping an eye on the instructor’s and Renee’s reactions:
[Did Renee and the instructor really have a thing behind the scenes?]
[Absolutely not! This kind of gossip is not just an insult to our instructor, but hurts Renee too. Wendy has zero evidence, just drumming up fake drama out of nowhere. She’s only doing this out of jealousy, what other motive could she have?]
[Hey, anyone who just joined, check out the stream replay! I watched it twice—Wendy didn’t even know the instructor was standing in Renee’s room before spinning this wild rumor, hinting that Renee was messing around with someone. If it wasn’t the instructor in there, but any other guy, Renee would never be able to explain herself!]
[Is Wendy flat-out making things up, or does Renee actually have some wild side, for Wendy to freak out like that just hearing a man’s voice in the room? Clearly this can’t be the first time, right? Shouldn’t the person involved come out and say something?]
[Morgan, please clarify! We believe you!]
[Everyone, calm down and let’s see how Renee handles this. (Kinda looking forward to Morgan’s PR skills here!)]
[...]
The instructor looked at Renee, then back at Wendy, his face dark as thunder, obviously debating whether to get involved in this mess—it was, after all, a team member’s private business.
Renee stepped forward, looking at Wendy, but didn’t speak right away. Instead, she turned to the instructor, stood at attention and said, "Reporting, Instructor! I request to confront Wendy. She needs to honestly say who I’m supposedly ambiguous with—and produce evidence. If not, I request disciplinary action against Wendy according to protocol!"
"You!" Wendy’s face went ghostly pale for a second, then she burst out, "I never actually said anything!"
The instructor’s glare cut to her. He snapped sternly, "Wendy Aldridge, who was it—you said there was someone you couldn’t name! Who is it?"
Morgan’s PD wasn’t present and she had no evidence.
Wendy gritted her teeth and said, "Reporting, Instructor, there isn’t anyone. I was just nervous and started talking nonsense just now."
She was determined to never admit to anything—there was nothing Morgan could do to her.
As for the livestream...the Internet would just suspect she was too scared to say it, or maybe Morgan wasn’t as innocent as she looks.
Morgan had already decided Wendy needed a lesson today—no way she’d let this slide.
She didn’t bother arguing with Wendy. Instead, she faced the instructor, standing her ground: "Reporting, Instructor, everyone heard what Wendy Aldridge said just now. Now that she’s denying it, she’s clearly guilty and effectively admitting she’s slandered me—I request disciplinary action against Wendy in accordance with regulations!"
The instructor’s hawk-like eyes landed on Wendy: "One last chance—either show evidence and call the person here for a face-to-face, or else..."
Wendy was tempted to name the person—it was Renee’s PD, a member of the show crew—but she had no proof, and then it would be real slander.
"Instructor, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions when I didn’t know the facts. I just noticed Renee hanging out kind of close with some men, so I thought..." Wendy bit her lip in annoyance. Even her apology was loaded with meaning.
Renee’s lips curled with a cold smile as she replied, "So you’re saying, just interacting with men counts as being ambiguous? But this is the military—here, there’s no men or women, only comrades."
Wendy was completely shut down, couldn’t get a word out. She cursed Morgan’s damn luck for always managing to escape danger by the skin of her teeth.
Lynn: "Morgan’s right. In the military, there’s no men or women, just comrades. Last night after running, I even helped Gael Prescott support Miles Yates back."
Gael Prescott and Miles Yates gave a nod in agreement.
Zara Chapman kept quiet—she didn’t care for either of the newbies, Wendy or Morgan.
The chat, mostly on Morgan’s side already, was now even more one-sided:
[The military is full of men. Even the show crew is mostly guys—it takes muscle to haul gear up and down all the time. If you can get tagged "ambiguous" just for talking too much with a guy, that’s just terrifying.]
[Exactly, exactly! I watched the replay—the instructor and Morgan were in the room, the door wasn’t even locked, anyone could walk in. Wendy didn’t even check who was in there and started ranting about catching someone cheating!]
