Cast as the Foil, She Went Viral on a Military Reality Show
Chapter 103: Face-to-Face
Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Face-to-Face
Funny enough, the team the commander sent for backup were the same guys who helped Group 3 earlier—it was Assault Team 2.
The commander got approval from both sides, then patched them all in on voice chat.
This comms device was pretty advanced. You could go one-on-one, everyone together, or even swap from group chat to private chat with a click—however you wanted.
Renee Morgan was still figuring out all these functions when the voices of Team 2’s assault squad came through her earpiece.
They seemed to be rushing over, heavy breathing, wind noise, strategizing about the route. Nobody had time to pay attention to Renee who just joined the channel.
Renee waited patiently, staying silent, eyes locked on the road ahead. If anything happened, she’d spot it and report instantly.
She was focusing hard. Suddenly, a beep rang in her earpiece. Before she could react, a deep voice spoke up.
"Sniper... Renee Morgan?" he asked.
Renee’s eyes paused on the road, finger subconsciously pressing her earpiece. She replied calmly, "Yeah, are you Assault Team 2?"
"I’m Dane. Report your status and precise location," he said—straight to the point, with a tone that was basically an order.
Renee: "..."
This dude sounds young for such a bossy guy?
She didn’t hesitate. Told him the exact location, then added: "They haven’t moved yet. If you can, get close without being seen. Don’t tip them off."
Dane nodded, relayed her words to the team, then just cleanly cut her off voice chat.
Renee lifted her finger from the earpiece and went back to watching the road, all business.
Jay Monroe was God knows where, chilling like nothing happened. Holding out as long as the enemy does—classic move.
Ten minutes later, Renee felt someone behind her. She whipped around, sniper rifle locked on the intruder—only to feel a submachine gun pressed to her own forehead.
Dane raised an eyebrow. He’d always heard that Team Blue had two top snipers, one of them a woman. He’d been curious: how’d a woman grab the sniper slot?
Reflexes... eh, so-so...
Before Dane could finish judging, Renee suddenly dropped her sniper rifle, whipped out her combat knife, kicked both legs into his chest, and slammed him to the ground, pinning his neck with the military blade.
One move closer, and whether or not she slit his throat, he’d be dead or at least seriously wounded, out of the match.
In the darkness, Dane’s expression looked like a painter’s palette—wildly colorful.
Stream chat: [.....]
They wanted to see the badass pose—just not this kind of pose...
Wait, let them watch a bit longer. This "being on the bottom" angle... lol.
Damn, that killer stare—so ferocious, I’m obsessed, in love!!!
[If Renee knew she just took down F-state’s top dog, I wonder what she’d think...]
[She’d probably love it, lol...]
[Stop joking around. Didn’t you see that killer glare? Y’all can’t be real fans—not worried about Renee’s safety at all.]
[Hahaha, what’s there to worry about? We already pooled cash for a bailout. If Renee loses her "waist-waist" (ranking), we’ll take care of her.]
[...] What kind of karma does Renee have, to get this bunch of idiot fans?
International viewers saw this and didn’t have as many wild thoughts as the locals.
But they were just as hyped.
Guess they were right, huh?
Even F-state’s kingpin is a little bro in front of our Renee!
Not that they’d dare throw that on public chat.
But no matter what they said, the smugness leaked through.
[Ahaha, not disappointed—F-state boss’s aura hits hard, I’m quaking in my boots.]
[A real boss, such a gentleman for letting our Renee have her way.]
[Sigh, Renee is being way too rough. Seriously, hope the boss is big-hearted and won’t hold it against her.]
[Renee’s so fragile—just pushed someone down and the knife didn’t go in. No hidden meaning, just curious what’d happen if she actually stabbed him?]
[.....] If you want to see the boss with a gaping throat, just type it right on the chat—they’ll just pretend not to notice.
Chinese viewers started reflecting. Was it too much foreign invasion or are all these foreigners studying Chinese on the side while glued to the stream? Their progress is insane.
Dane was known as a troublemaker, and he knew full well that Renee’s counterattack was one hundred percent deliberate.
She clearly recognized his uniform, knew he aimed that SMG at her on purpose, and still just ditched her rifle, yanked out a knife, and aimed right for his throat.
She didn’t stick it in, but the insult still landed just as hard.
"Why’d you stop? Go on, stab," Dane said coldly, eyes like a beast in the dark—chilling to the bone.
Stream chat: [.....]
Stab—stab where?
Stab what?
Is this the scene we were hoping for?
Renee definitely wasn’t having any daydreams—she just hated how Dane put a gun to her forehead.
If she figured out Dane was a teammate, then he for sure recognized her from the start, and still did this? Bro needs to be taught a lesson.
Renee’s icy stare locked onto the man pinned under her, whose features stayed striking even through the shadows.
Unlike Jay’s sharp, handsome face or Hugh’s calm, cold aura, Dane’s looks were almost otherworldly—more angular and distinct, absolutely stand-out.
Dane definitely caught that flicker of surprise in Renee’s eyes, and snickered inside.
Heh, women!
But Renee wasn’t the type to get weak over a pretty face. Dane looked good, sure, but it was just human instinct to stare at attractive things.
No matter how good he looked, it didn’t mean she’d let his crap slide.
Her grip tightened on the knife, pressing harder into his throat, sharp pain making Dane’s eyes widen.
Renee let out a cold laugh: "Think I won’t do it?"
Knocking him out of the game would be a piece of cake.
Dane: "If you off a teammate, you’re out too."
Renee’s voice iced over: "So what? You pointed your gun at my head first!"
At this close range, seeing the fire in her eyes, Dane—usually quick to anger—actually didn’t feel a trace of rage. Strange... kinda soft?
His gaze slid down from her sharp little face—
Her foot. Was. On. His. Chest!
"So... what exactly do you want?" Dane seriously wanted to chop her foot off.
Renee’s red lips spat out two words: "Apologize!"
Dane tried to grab the knife a few times, but this woman was crazy strong—foot pinning his chest like a rock, every muscle in his body limp, couldn’t do jack.
