Location: Myriad Realms, Realm Of True Evil

Maworm’s long body had attracted Truevils apart from the swarm of the Calamity Daughter Seed Truevils. That thought took me a second to settle in because it hadn’t even been more than a minute since Maworm assumed her current transformation and swallowed the Star Turtle shell.

Yet, within that less than a minute, a group of Truevils surrounded her from all directions, having noticed her big form from afar, from the mainland or maybe some other settlement in the surrounding area. Either locations were not at a distance even the swarm of the Calamity Daughter Seed Truevils could cover in under a minute. Yet, these Truevils did it and were now attacking Maworm.

That rang a loud alarm in my head.

There were two sure-death scenarios in the Realm of True Evil.

One was running into a mob of Truevils. It was rare for Truevils to be together. If they were, then either they were females protecting their collective batch of hatchlings from other males of their race forming an alliance to kill and eat hatchlings while forcing the mothers into heat again to mate aggressively for prolonged periods of time. Considering their inexhaustible bodies if conditions were right it can go on for decades.

Or they were Truevils that failed to kill each other, not because of a lack of trying but because they were all equally strong. None of them could gain an advantage over the others and spent their days playing jungle style royal rumble, trying to kill each other when they were not eating, sleeping, or tormenting the poor souls that were unlucky enough to run into them.

The second was running into an old Truevil. So old that its eyes were devoid of emotions, and only joy or any other emotions in them could be seen when they were fighting or playing with other beings. These old Truevils were so strong that they had survived the generations before them, their own generation, and the generations after them. They had lived so long, yet through that long lifespan, they hadn’t seen a single defeat, and their countless victories stood upon a mountain of corpses.

The first scenario I can deal with, but the second scenario I was praying to avoid at any cost. As it wasn’t the Truevils coming together that put an end to the Mulias Royal Family’s invasion into the Realm of True Evil, but these individual old Truevils that triumphed against the strongest of the Mulias Royal Family’s champions and armies.

Since these things never get exhausted, each one can fight tirelessly, at maximum output, for years, decades, even centuries.

And having seen Scar’s various means of battle, these Truevils might be primitive in their way of life, but when it comes to solo battle, they were the best in the entire Myriad Realm.

As long as these old Truevils were there, any form of invasion into the Realm of True Evil would eventually be meaningless… Was that why they introduced the World Calamity Tree into the Realm of True Evil?

I shook my head, not wanting to jump to a conclusion and woke up from my thoughts to Maworm screaming in fear and transforming into her tiniest size, almost immediately vanishing from the sky, sending the group of Truevils attacking her crashing into each other’s attacks. Maworm barely managed to not to get caught in the and survive the collision of their attacks and leave that space, praying that the Truevils would continue to fight among themselves and forget about her.

But to her dismay, the collision of their attacks didn’t trigger a battle between them despite the damage they suffered. Instead, it ignited a competitive spirit among them to catch her first. However, that didn’t mean they didn’t play foul to catch her.

They attacked one another just as one of them was coming close to catching her, helping Maworm narrowly escape, despite her speed being nothing astonishing compared to theirs.

Had it been underground, it would be different, but there wasn’t any ground anywhere in sight for hundreds of miles. She didn’t even consider diving into the lava below because the Truevils were more comfortable swimming in the scorching lava than flying with the wind.

She couldn’t use the Myriad Devil Transformation to mix with the surrounding clouds or the lava either, fearing that if she turned into anything inanimate, she might risk destroying everything she was storing in her multiple dimensional stomachs.

All she could do was run in circles in various patterns such that these Truevils kept running into each other violently without realizing what she was doing.

No matter how hard the Truevils hit each other, they didn’t fight among themselves and continued to keep their eye on the prize. Each one of them seemed to manifest a barbaric violent sportsmanlike spirit unique to their race.

Yep, they were enjoying themselves while Maworm did her best not to get caught. She had almost been grasped a bunch of times now, but she managed to escape by shedding her skin to squeeze out of their grip or detaching her tail like a lizard to escape when she felt that she might get caught.

The other Truevils laughed at the ones that caught her shed skin or tail instead of her, provoking them and making the game more competitive. The more competitive it became, the heavier the attacks of the Truevils became on each other. And they grew more focused on winning this thing.

If one didn’t know the truth, they would assume the bunch of Truevils were harmoniously playing around like a pod of dolphins playing among themselves, when actually dolphins have been using smaller, helpless sea creatures as macabre sports equipment, playing a live-animal version of volleyball or catch, passing baby sharks, octopuses, or sea turtles back and forth, slamming them against the water’s surface until the exhausted animal dies of trauma.

Such was the nature of the Truevils. The older and stronger they were, the worse they were.
