CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 296: THE ARACHNE SOVEREIGN
Deep beneath the Arachne Pyramid, in the shadow-drenched stillness of her underground chamber, the giant silken cocoon hung suspended like a pulsing obsidian heart. For weeks, it had gorged upon the residue of Caius’s dual-mana core, absorbing streams of radiant solar light and void spatial mana, refining her raw ether core into something far more divine.
In the high spire of the citadel, Caius suddenly froze. A powerful vibration rippled through his mana bonds, signaling that the delicate boundary of the subterranean cocoon was fracturing. Stepping into a ripple of folded space, he materialized inside the humid, web-lined vault beneath the pyramid.
The massive cocoon burst open, unraveling into thousands of iridescent silken ribbons that melted into mist.
From the glowing heart of the silk emerged a figure of breathtaking, predatory perfection. She stepped onto the cool stone floor entirely unclad, her pale, pearl-like skin gleaming under the soft radiance of ambient ether mana. Her form was slender yet curved with flawless lethal grace, her long, night-black hair cascading down her shoulders like liquid obsidian.
Caius’s eyes widened in genuine shock as his gaze met hers.
She possessed two deep, enchanting human eyes, but arranged in a delicate arc just above her dark eyebrows were six tiny, jewel-like orb eyes, glistening like crimson and violet stud gems against her pale skin. They flickered with multi-dimensional intelligence, tracking every micro-movement and mana vibration in the room simultaneously.
Sensing Caius's uncharacteristic pause, a coy, alluring smile curved her lips. She swayed forward with mesmerizing grace, her multi-lensed gaze locking onto his.
"My King..." she purred, her voice a sultry, reverberating melody that seemed to stroke the very walls of his mind with playful mischief.
A subtle shudder ran down Caius’s spine, not from fear, but from the raw, intoxicating pressure of her transformed presence. What had emerged was no longer merely a monster of subterranean webs, but a true Arachne Sovereign. Her condensed ether core pulsed with supreme spatial-fabrication authority.
Caius composed himself, his Tri-Pupil Eye flickering as he took in her new form. "You’ve absorbed my dual mana far better than I anticipated, Princess."

"I drank every drop you gave me," she whispered teasingly, stepping close enough for Caius to feel the warm, etheric heat radiating from her skin. "And now... my looms belong entirely to your reign."
A dry, deliberate sound echoed from the dark corner of the vault.
"Ahem."
Old Bones stepped silently out of the sub-dimensional shadow, holding a heavy, plush obsidian robe draped over his arms. His dark elf face was completely deadpan, his silver-grey eyes unfazed by the divine manifestation before him.
"While your spatial lace is undeniably breathtaking, Princess," Old Bones murmured smoothly, extending the robe with practiced professional poise, "the steward of the court must kindly insist that proper garments be worn before stepping into the central halls."
The Arachne Princess clicked her tongue softly.
"Tsch."
A look of dark amusement flickered through her multi-lensed eyes. With a lazy flick of her pale wrist, thin threads of spatial ether snapped across her skin. In a fraction of a second, plates of sleek, lethal obsidian chitin armor wove out of thin air, snapping around her body to form a stunning suit of fitted, void-forged plate that gleamed like polished jet.
Old Bones paused, slowly retracting the unused velvet robe onto his forearm without missing a beat. "Equally acceptable."
Caius led the way up the winding subterranean stairs into the Great Hall, intending to introduce her to the assembled high command, the generals, cohort captains, and provincial officers standing in rigid formation.
Yet, as they stepped onto the polished obsidian floor, the Princess completely ignored the line of waiting commanders. Her multi-lensed eyes swept past the grand military brass and locked onto the outer balcony, where the fifty-one Crow Arcane Adepts were actively weaving feathered spatial wards into the hall's architecture.
Her six upper eyes flickered, tracking the shimmering, feathered mana currents with intense fascination. Turning to Caius with an eager, sharp glint in her eyes, she pointed a slim, clawed finger toward the arcana weavers.
"Give me the fifty-one mages," she said, her sultry voice echoing through the grand chamber. "Seeing their feathered magic... I want to tweak it with my thread arts."
"Come with me," she commanded, turning on her heel with a sweep of her obsidian-chitin mantle.
Without a moment’s hesitation, all fifty-one Crow Arcane Adepts bowed deeply to Caius and Old Bones, breaking formation to follow the Arachne Sovereign back down into the depths of her pyramid.
The high generals, Orc warlords, and senior officers were left standing in the center of the hall with their mouths hanging open, staring in utter disbelief. They exchanged baffled glances, wondering who this breathtaking, eight-eyed stranger was who had just casually commandeered the domain's entire spellcaster division without so much as acknowledging their existence.
An awkward silence stretched across the throne room.
Caius cleared his throat, adjusting his armor with a quiet cough.
"...And that," Caius said, his voice calm and unbothered, "is the new Archmage of the city."
