CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows

CHAPTER 155: THE SHADOW OF THE CROWN

Caius shifted his perception, stepping beyond the boundaries of physical reality and descending into the deepest sanctum of his mind sea.

He materialized within the temple at the heart of his inner domain. Around the central stone island stretched a vast, dark ocean of mind sea energy, where passive residual dark mana nurtured everything bound to his soul.

Before him stood the ancient Stone Table, its carved spiral containing nine precise slots. Currently, only three were occupied by the distinct elemental affinities of his primary summons, the Black Flame Demon, the Arachne Princess, and the Black Sabre-Lightning Tiger, leaving six slots dark and vacant.

Encircling the table was the Court Circle, featuring a continuous ring of nine outer nodes where his court entities physically resided.

Standing over the stone table, Caius raised his right hand. Resting between his fingers was the newly forged, high-density soul bead, condensed from the ten thousand purest human souls and war-mage cores harvested from the Death Bowl.

Without hesitation, Caius leaned forward and pressed the glowing, crimson-gold bead directly into the fourth spiral socket.

VRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMM!

A violent, catastrophic tremor tore through the temple. The sheer weight of the reaction did not just vibrate within his mind sea, as the spatial shockwave spilled outward, causing the physical foundations of the Black Granite Citadel to shudder violently.

Deep in the subterranean vaults, dust fell from the stone ceilings, and the imprisoned Solarian knights cried out in sudden, instinctive dread.

Sensing the sudden, immense displacement of power, three shadows blurred across the mind sea. The Black Flame Demon, the Arachne Princess, and the Black Sabre-Lightning Tiger materialized on the courtyard perimeter, their eyes locked in quiet awe and apprehension on the center of the temple island to see what their Sovereign was forging.

At the fourth outer court node, mirrored directly from the newly filled spiral slot, darkness began to bleed upward like heavy oil.

The shadows condensed into a terrifying, nine-foot figure clad from head to toe in jagged, seamless black obsidian armor. In its right hand, it gripped a colossal obsidian war mace that hummed with crushing kinetic force, while its left arm held a massive tower shield etched with glowing crimson runes.

Perched atop its iron helm was a spired obsidian crown.

It was Caius’s first true created entity, a manifestation born not from a recycled soul, but directly constructed from his divine Crown Core and purified essence.

However, the construct did not bow.

Instead of swearing fealty, the Shadow Knight raised its helm, its hollow visor flaring with an unholy, rebellious crimson glare. A torrent of malignant black shadows erupted from its body, snaking across the temple floor and coiling toward the stone table, actively attempting to seize control of the Crown Core's central arrays.

Caius's violet eyes narrowed into cold, lethal slits as he raised his hand, his dark aura flaring to meet the rebellious tide.

He would have to break it first.
