CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 105: THE THIRD CIRCLE
Inside the vast expanse of his soul sea, the atmosphere churned with violent, tempestuous energy. The air hummed with the high-voltage friction of compressed atmospheric fury, thick with the scent of ozone and scorching ether.
Before Caius, the ethereal spirit of the Sabre Lightning Tiger manifested in its full, majestic glory. Unlike its physical corpse, this spiritual form roared with dense, crackling violet lightning that arced across the obsidian floor like living serpents. Its massive, muscular frame towered higher and radiated a far more lethal, raw predatory aura than the beast had ever possessed in life, its very presence a testament to the brutal, unforgiving apex of the high mountain peaks above the Underdark. The essence bead at its core thrummed with a blinding, blindingly fast pulse of pure lightning mana, holding within its crystalline facets centuries of unbridled storms and vicious alpine survival.
The Black Flame Demon and the Arachne Princess immediately stepped forward from the shadows, their sinister pressure flaring to life as they moved to intervene. Behind them, the six male Arachne brood members shifted into synchronized ambush stances, ready to tear the lightning beast apart before it could threaten their master.
"Don't interfere," Caius commanded, his voice cold and echoing through the obsidian domain with absolute authority. "This one is mine."
The tiger roared, a deafening sound that shook the foundational pillars of the soul sea, and lunged forward like a bolt of falling thunder.
Caius didn't back down. Fusing his newly perfected spatial thread locks with his close-quarters assassin footwork, he met the beast head-on. He dodged blinding electrical arcs by fractions of an inch, using Obsidian Lattice to deflect residual lightning while his Eye of the Loom calculated the spirit's structural weak points in real time.
Void-Tether Snap!
Caius vanished, reappearing directly above the beast's massive head. Five black threads shot from his outstretched hand, driving straight into the tiger's vital spirit points with unerring precision.
Spatial Lock: Domain-Seal!
The space surrounding the tiger froze solid, trapping the crackling beast in a cage of absolute stillness. The tiger thrashed wildly against the dimensional constraints, its violet energy flaring into blinding displays of light, but Caius drove his palm down with crushing force, forcing the roaring ethereal titan downward into the glowing third binding circle etched deep into the obsidian floor. The tiger yielded with a final, echoing shockwave of sound, its wild energy collapsing and condensing until it formed a pristine, perfectly purified lightning bead in Caius's outstretched hand.

Caius turned toward the dark temple at the center of his domain. Walking past the kneeling demon and princess, he approached the ancient stone altar where the fate of his core's evolution rested.
There sat the three vacant slots. The first held the Black Flame, the second held the Arachne thread-seal, and now, Caius placed the purified Sabre Lightning Tiger essence bead squarely into the third slot.
BOOM!
A blinding column of violent, violet-and-black lightning erupted from the altar, shooting straight into the ethereal heavens of his soul sea. The towering stone pillars surrounding the domain thrummed with terrifying, thunderous power, radiating an ancient, primordial aura that commanded total submission.
The pressure was so absolute that the Black Flame Demon, the Arachne Princess, and the entire spider brood were forced to their knees, bowing deeply before the newly empowered pillar of the Crown Core.
In the real world, the subterranean sky above House Vel'drin's estate turned dark and tempestuous.
A sudden, unnatural storm formed inside the cavernous courtyard, heavy with roiling black clouds and crackling violet lightning that struck the training yard stone with deafening, earth-shaking cracks.
Patriarch Vane and Orven arrived through a tearing spatial seam, both of their faces grave and lined with tension as they sought the origin of the terrifying atmospheric anomaly that threatened to destabilize the entire estate.
They found Old Bones standing fifty paces away, paralyzed in place by the sheer gravitational pressure, his face illuminated by the wild, electric display centered around Caius. The boy sat cross-legged in the center of the yard, his body shrouded in a swirling tornado of pitch-black mana and blinding violet lightning.
"Old Bones!" Patriarch Vane demanded, his voice slicing through the thunderous roar as he stepped forward through the turbulent air. "What in the dark realms did the boy do?!"
Old Bones swallowed hard, his throat dry as he stared at the roaring vortex. He kept the secret of the Calamity Forge to himself for now, intending to speak with the Patriarch only in private once this madness settled and the boy's foundation stabilized.
"I... I merely gave the brat a gift for his fifteenth birthday," Old Bones called back over the deafening wind. "A Sabre Lightning Tiger essence bead. And then... that happened."
Before Vane or Orven could press him further, a massive, jagged bolt of violet lightning plummeted straight down from the cavern ceiling, striking Caius directly on the head.
