Building The Perfect Harem With My Heavenly Desire System
Chapter 235: Facing A Troublesome Foe
Chapter 235
Alex stared at the figure rising from the crystal-clear waters of the underground lake in shock. Holy mother of...! The creature looked like it had come straight out of an ancient, forgotten myth from days of old!
It... or should he say, her upper body was entirely like that of a human female, but the only difference was that her skin was completely covered in smooth, pale grey scales that shimmered under the eerie underwater light.
As for her eyes? well they were a breathtaking, bewitching shade of deep ocean blue, glowing with a hypnotic intensity that felt like it could stare straight into your very soul and capture it with one single glance.
Her face was strangely, hauntingly beautiful, and her long hair flowed around her head as if it were made entirely out of water itself. She would have most definitely passed for a standard human woman if it were not for her monstrous lower body, which consisted of five massive, writhing tentacles covered in suction cups instead of legs. Plus the fact that her skin was covered in scales also
The creature’s intelligent eyes swept across the vast chamber, and then landed directly on the both of them. In front of Alex’s surprised eyes, what looked like a clear flicker of surprise flashed across her features when she realized that the two of them were standing completely upright and clear-headed, having not succumbed to her bewitching, hypnotic melody like the rest.
However, her shock lasted for only a few couple of seconds before her expression darkened into something cold and dangerous. Without warning, the creature raised her lower body and violently thrust all five of her massive tentacles high into the air!
SPLURGE! Alex couldn’t help but watch as the sharp tips of her tentacles pierced straight into the chests of three suspended humans and two massive brown bears floating helpless above the water!
Then what followed after was a strange, dark purple liquid that flowed through the tentacles directly into the bodies of the helpless victims. A moment later, the creature withdrew her tentacles back into the glowing lake, leaving the five victims suspended in mid-air.
At that exact moment, the five targeted beings underwent a horrifyingly gruesome transformation right before their very eyes! The scene was so bad that even a grown man would have puked to death.
He could make out as their flesh bulged violently, followed by their bones cracking and snapping with sickening pops that could make any person shiver. And the skins all sloughed off, replaced by thick fish-like scales, while their faces distorted into terrifying aquatic visages with pitch-black, hollow eyes. Then they all began to swell in size, with their limbs morphing into weird, elongated appendages.
In a matter of seconds, all five of them morphed into two-meter-tall humanoid abominations with wet, pale-grey fish skin, pitch-black eyes that looked utterly haunting, and thick razor-sharp nails that instantly grew into meter-long claws gleaming with a lethal metallic light!
SCREEEEECH!!!! The brand-new aquatic abominations threw their heads back and unleashed a high-pitched, ear-splitting screech that vibrated through the cavern walls so hard it would have easily shattered glass and ruptured the eardrums of any normal person nearby!
Luckily for Alex and Sylph, they weren’t affected by the terrifying attack at all because they were temporarily deaf for the moment so all sound based attacks where totally useless.
Seeing the five hideous monsters drop down onto the rocky shore and lock their pitch-black eyes onto them, both Alex and Sylph instantly turned serious, and prepared for combat. If they were going to save their squad and the other people still alive, they had to kill their way to the monster responsible and finish her off.
Sylph reached toward the scabbard at her slim waist and smoothly pulled out a sleek, obsidian-black saber. The surface of the blade had a dark, jagged texture that strangely resembled the durable plate armor of the Bone Demon General they had encountered before.
Beside her, Alex didn’t bother drawing a weapon since there was none by the way. He simply planted his feet firmly onto the cold stone floor, pulling his right fist back as raw, overwhelming force began to concentrate within his muscles.
With eyes that burned with a cold light, he focused on the five abominations as they lunged across the rocky terrain toward them, with their meter-long claws slicing through the air like razor blades.
The most ferocious abomination of the whole bunch reached Alex first, and opened its gaping, needle-filled maw to bite straight through his neck while swinging its massive, meter-long claw downward in a lethal arc.
Alex watched as the attacks were about to land and instantly moving with terrifying speed. He first stepped straight into the monster’s attack zone, ducking beneath the massive claw swing with a bit of ease. Before the beast could adjust its balance, Alex drove his right fist straight upward into the creature’s exposed chest!
The impact of his raw strength sounded like an artillery shell detonating inside the cavern as his fist plowed straight through the heavy fish scales, shattering the creature’s mutated ribcage and obliterating its internal organs in one go!
The massive two-meter-tall abomination didn’t even have time to scream before the crushing shockwave blasted straight through its back, launching its lifeless and mangled corpse flying backward across the cavern floor like a ragdoll. It slammed heavily against the jagged stone wall, before collapsing into a heap of meat.
Meanwhile, Sylph was moving like a dark phantom across the battlefield. Utilizing her extraordinary speed, she blurred past the incoming claws of two human-turned-abominations before they could even register her movement. Then her saber effortlessly sliced through the dim light in a clean arc, severing the heads of both abominations simultaneously!
Their headless bodies stumbled forward two more steps on pure momentum before dropping hard onto the ground, with vile purple blood spraying across the ground.
The fourth abomination tried to leap at Sylph from her blind spot, with its long claws extended to tear her back to shreds. But Alex was already there. Appearing right beside the leaping monster like a ghost, Alex reached out with his left hand, and grabbed the abomination by its thick, scaly throat in mid-air!
Then with a cold expression, he slammed the creature down hard into the ground, shattering the stone beneath it into a spiderweb of deep cracks!
Before the disoriented monster could even attempt to swing its claws at his arm, Alex brought his boot down directly onto its head!
CRUNCH!! The creature’s scaly skull burst open under the fierce stomp, instantly ending its pitiful life.
The fifth and final abomination, seeing its four companions slaughtered in less than ten seconds, let out another silent, desperate screech and tried to slash at Alex’s midsection with both of its meter-long claws.
But Sylph appeared behind it like a shadow, and with her dark saber thrusting forward with insane precision, She let the tip of her blade passed straight through the back of the monster’s skull, piercing out between its pitch-black eyes before she smoothly retracted the weapon.
The last creature shuddered violently once, then collapsed limply onto the rocky shore.
The entire fight had lasted less than half a minute or so. Now the cavern floor was littered with the motionless corpses of the five transformed abominations.
With their raw physical strength and absurd speeds, standard Vanguard-level threats were nothing more than cannon fodder to them. Even if they had faced more they would still have won easily.
Alex shook the dark blood off his knuckles, turning his head toward Sylph. He offered her a quick nod, before turning his gaze back toward the glowing underground lake, expecting to see the tentacled creature react with anger or panic now that her guardians had been slaughtered so quickly.
However, as Alex locked eyes with the water-haired creature in the center of the lake, he didn’t see fear on her hauntingly beautiful face. Instead, what appeared was a cruel, mocking curve formed on her pale grey lips.
Suddenly, a strange, dark purple light began to pulse beneath the surface of the lake, radiating outward like a human heartbeat. The purple glow washed over the five dead, mangled corpses scattered across the rocky shore.
What happened next made Alex’s eyes widened in genuine disbelief as he felt the stone beneath his feet tremble softly.
On the ground right in front of them, the crushed skull of the abomination Alex had stomped on began to rapidly stitch itself back together! Black veins swelled and squirmed beneath its pale scales like writhing worms. Beside it, the headless bodies that Sylph had sliced apart suddenly twitched violently as dark purple tendrils burst out from their severed necks, pulling their rolling heads back onto their shoulders and reattaching them seamlessly within seconds!
The mangled monster that Alex had blasted through the chest let out a guttural gasp as its obliterated ribs popped back into alignment, and its hollow chest cavity instantly filling back up.
In less than three seconds, all five abominations stood back up on their feet, with their pitch-black eyes glowing with an even more unnatural light than before!
From the look of things their wounds had completely vanished, leaving no trace of the lethal damage both he and Sylph had just inflicted upon them!
Without giving the two of them even a moment to digest what was happening, the five fully restored abominations lunged forward once again, with their long claws snapping through the air as they launched an unrelentless, mindless counterattack!
Alex’s jaw tightened as he dropped back into his combat stance, with two long shards of Deathfrost Bloom now appearing in his hands. Beside him, Sylph’s grip on her black saber tightened, and her sharp eyes gleamed with a cold light as they faced the revived horde once more.
