Chapter 221: Chapter 147: Ouroboros Trading Company, Kodo Beast Recruitment Scroll

"Huh? It’s a Wandering Merchant Team," Xia Wanyin said in surprise, having apparently sensed their presence.

Shen Xing was also a little surprised; he hadn’t expected a merchant team to appear.

The so-called Wandering Merchant Teams were similar to the Wandering Merchants from before—both were special entities that roamed the Land of Mist to trade.

The difference was that their selection of goods was richer and their operation was on a much larger scale. They were also backed by formidable factions.

Besides, Shen Xing had heard that Wandering Merchant Teams like this one often carried plenty of valuable items.

"Let’s go see what they’re selling."

Shen Xing sensed that the merchant team wasn’t particularly strong; he could only detect a few Extraordinary Level auras among them, which was enough to travel through the Black Wing Plain without much trouble.

WHOOSH—

Fried Chicken immediately folded its wings. Its enormous body churned the gray Fog as it plummeted toward the ground like a meteor.

Seeing the massive shadow swooping down from above, the members of the Wandering Merchant Team turned pale with fright.

"Watch out! It’s an Extraordinary Level flying monster!"

"Everyone, on your guard!"

Amid cries of alarm, a dozen or so guards raised their weapons and rushed forward, shielding the carriages and merchants behind them.

However, the enormous raptor didn’t attack. Instead, it landed about twenty meters from the caravan.

Then, three figures leaped from its back.

In the middle was a young man in a wheelchair, with handsome features and bright eyes.

He was flanked by two stunningly beautiful women of completely different styles: one held a Magic Staff, and the other had hollow eyes.

The guards breathed a small sigh of relief upon seeing they were human, but they kept their weapons raised, remaining vigilant.

"Halt! What is your business here?" a middle-aged man with a goatee and a large potbelly asked as he stepped forward.

Shen Xing glanced at him, thinking, ’This guy really fits my image of a merchant. That Garrotte fellow I met before wasn’t in the same league. Ahem... in terms of weight, that is.’

He wheeled himself forward. "I’m here to buy things. You are a merchant team, are you not? Or do you not welcome customers?"

Hearing this, the guards opposite him exchanged a glance and then breathed a collective sigh of relief.

"Oh, so you’re here to do business. For a second there, I thought you were here to rob us."

The pot-bellied merchant’s shoulders slumped in relief. He then rubbed his hands together and stepped forward, a smile spreading across his fleshy face.

"My apologies, we’ve been on edge. A group of Skinners has appeared in this part of the Black Wing Plain recently, and they specialize in ambushing traveling merchants."

"That’s why not many caravans dare to pass through here anymore."

"Skinners?" Shen Xing asked in confusion.

"Yes, a group of Sub-humans. Or as we call them, mixed-blood mongrels."

The pot-bellied merchant sneered, his tone dripping with unconcealed disdain. "Those mongrels are born from unions between Demons and humans. Their blood is impure, they’re hot-tempered and irritable, and they can’t control their own Power."

"They’ve caused numerous large-scale uprisings in the past, so all the great cities have expelled them."

"Now these fiends gather in the wilderness, robbing passing caravans and preying on people. Their methods are exceptionally cruel."

After a pause, the pot-bellied merchant waved his hand dismissively. "Ah, but let’s not talk about that. You mentioned you wanted to buy something?"

He looked at Shen Xing’s group with anticipation, a shrewd glint returning to his eyes.

Shen Xing said nothing, impassively observing the merchant as an attribute panel appeared before his eyes.

[Merchant: West]

[Talent: Sharp]

(Note: "Customer, care to buy something? I have a relic left behind by a Divine Spirit right here. It’s yours for only Ten Thousand Gold Coins.")

...

Shen Xing’s eyes narrowed when he saw that list of Life Skills.

’This guy is no pushover...’

Keeping his expression neutral, he said calmly, "Let me see your merchandise first."

"No problem,"

the pot-bellied merchant agreed cheerfully.

[Wandering Merchant: West has opened his item list to you. Agree?]

Shen Xing and Xia Wanyin both accepted, and a long list of items materialized before them.

’As expected of a Wandering Merchant Team. Their merchandise is on a completely different level from what a lone Wandering Merchant carries.’

Not only did they have large quantities of pills, materials, blueprints, and Recruitment Scrolls, but they even had Gold and Epic Level equipment.

And that last Epic Level item in particular... it looked like an Ice Attribute Great Bow?

As Shen Xing stared at the long list of items, he couldn’t help but feel a flicker of greed.
