Chapter 199: Chapter 140: Humanoid Scanner, Exaggerated Exploration Efficiency

"Reina’s awake?"

Shen Xing looked at the Clam Maiden before him and asked doubtfully.

"Yes," Nimue nodded gently. "She was very emotionally unstable just now, constantly murmuring that it was all her fault. It took me a long time to calm her down."

Shen Xing said no more and immediately wheeled himself toward the Outer City District.

Soon, he arrived at Reina’s private residence.

At that moment, a stunningly beautiful figure was leaning against the bed, her crimson hair cascading over her shoulders like flowing fire.

Upon seeing Shen Xing at the door, her ruby-like eyes trembled slightly.

Then, she quickly threw off the thin blanket and strode toward him.

"Reina, you..."

Before he could finish, the beautiful figure had already thrown herself into his arms.

It was like a furnace pressing against him, bringing an instantaneous, scorching heat.

A pair of small, warm hands held him in a tight embrace, squeezing with ever-increasing force as if afraid he would vanish the very next second.

"Thank goodness you’re not dead... Thank goodness..."

The red-haired woman in his arms spoke with a choked sob, her shoulders trembling slightly.

Shen Xing didn’t speak, simply letting her hold him as he gently patted her on the back with his right hand.

Nimue stood at the door, her watery eyes wide with astonishment.

After a moment, Reina finally composed herself and slowly let go of Shen Xing.

"I’m sorry... Lord, please forgive me." Her cheeks were flushed, and her small, fair hands clutched a corner of her Magic Robe.

Shen Xing smiled. "It’s alright. As a Lord, it’s my duty to look after the emotional well-being of my territory’s members."

"No... that’s not what I meant..." Reina looked up, her eyes filled with even deeper guilt. "I shouldn’t have distrusted you. I shouldn’t have been so wary of you."

"If I had used my Flame Power from the start, you wouldn’t have died protecting me..."

"You trusted me so much, you helped me, and yet I..."

Shen Xing was slightly taken aback. He shook his head. "Don’t blame yourself, Reina. I know you had your reasons."

"I don’t know what you’ve been through or what you’ve endured."

"But as long as you’ve joined my territory, you are my subordinate, and you are my family."

"I won’t let my family be wronged."

"Family..." the red-haired woman murmured softly, her shoulders suddenly jolting.

Then, as if she’d had an epiphany, a resolute light appeared in her eyes.

"Lord, I understand now." She took a deep breath. "From now on, I am your family, and you are the most important person to me."

"I will devote my all to protecting you personally and won’t let danger come anywhere near you."

After a pause, her voice turned cold. "Even if it means using that sinful flame, even if it means destroying the entire world, I will not hesitate!"

’Er... there’s no need to go that far.’

Shen Xing cleared his throat, trying to make his expression as serious as possible. "Reina, if unleashing that flame is painful for you, you don’t have to force yourself."

"No, it’s necessary!" Reina refused resolutely, her crystal-like eyes fixed on Shen Xing. "In the past, I was always running, always hiding."

"It was because of my cowardice that the family and friends around me died one by one, and everything I had was taken from me."

"But that will never happen again. If anyone dares to touch anything or anyone at my side again, I will burn them to ash!"

Shen Xing could feel some terrifying power awakening within her as she spoke those words.

Of course, what was even more terrifying was the look in her eyes as she gazed at him.

Her crystal-like eyes were bloodshot, filled with an indescribable emotion.

’It was as if... she saw me as her exclusive property, to be touched by no one else on pain of death.’

Shen Xing didn’t know why this woman had changed so drastically after waking up, nor whether this change was for the better or worse.

’But at the very least, her willingness to display her full power is a good thing for the territory... probably?’

With a strange feeling, Shen Xing glanced at Reina’s panel.

[Hero: Reina Yanet]

[Level: 14]

[Potential: Boss★★★]

[Talent: 61+10 (Divine Gift)]

...

"!!!"

’There it is, a Talent beyond Chosen One!’

Shen Xing’s hands, resting on his wheelchair, trembled.

He knew Reina’s Talent would likely be terrifying, but he never expected it to reach this level!

The so-called Divine Gift is a blessing bestowed by a Divine Spirit.

Those with it are born with an extremely powerful Constitution and a comprehension ability far beyond that of ordinary people.

Beings with this Talent cultivate at an extremely fast rate, and grasping Skills is as easy for them as eating and drinking.

Of course, Reina hadn’t truly reached this level on her own; she had only barely touched the threshold of ’Divine Gift’ thanks to the blessing of the [Golden Ancient Tree].

Even so, it was still an absurdly powerful ability, making her the one with the highest Talent in the territory.

’Excellent, excellent. A Hero like this is destined to serve me!’

Shen Xing was pleased.

BZZZ...

Just then, his phone vibrated gently in his pocket.

He switched out of the game to check it. It was a message from Xia Wanyin.

Her message read: "Shen Xing, I’m almost at your territory. Are you online?"

Shen Xing replied, "I’m on. I’ll come to the main gate to meet you."

He then turned off his phone, his vision switching back to the Land of Mist.

"Reina, you should rest. I’m heading out."

Shen Xing said his goodbyes and began to wheel himself out.

But as soon as he was out the door, he discovered that the red-haired figure was still beside him, not leaving his side for a moment.

"Reina, what are you doing?" Shen Xing turned his head and asked.

"I am protecting you personally," Reina said seriously. "I’m already rested. Please allow me to accompany you."

Shen Xing opened his mouth, but in the end, he just nodded. "Alright, then. You can come along."
