Chapter 398: Chapter 366: Dharma Aspect 2

CRACK!

A bolt of lightning as thick as a bucket, imbued with an aura of annihilation that made even Primordial Spirits tremble, tore through the clouds and struck down ruthlessly upon Chen Li’s Primordial Spirit.

It was impossibly fast!

There was no escape!

In that moment of crisis, the gaze of Chen Li’s Primordial Spirit swept over a Cyan Lotus swaying gently on the barren, rocky soil, radiating a faint, pure light.

’I’ll risk it!’

Gritting his teeth, he transformed into a streak of light and shot toward the Cyan Lotus, taking cover beneath one of its leaves.

RUMBLE!!!

The annihilating lightning struck the Cyan Lotus.

A pure light flowed across the lotus petals as countless intricate Dao Patterns emerged, completely blocking the terrifying force of the tribulation lightning—a power great enough to annihilate a Primordial Spirit.

The lightning exploded into a billion tiny sparks and arcs of electricity, scattering in every direction. However, not one of them could pierce the seemingly fragile curtain of pure light.

Even more astonishingly, the Cyan Lotus slowly began to absorb the destructive electrical energy, drawing it in wisp by wisp.

And after absorbing the power of the tribulation lightning, the Cyan Lotus actually grew taller at a speed visible to the naked eye. Its leaves became a more vibrant, luscious green, and its Spirituality greatly increased.

’This Cyan Lotus... it’s absorbing the power of the heavenly tribulation?’

Chen Li’s Primordial Spirit, hiding under the lotus leaf, felt a surge of joy and shock at having survived the ordeal.

But there was no time for him to think.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK...!

Bolt after bolt of annihilating lightning, each more powerful than the last, struck down in succession.

A full nine bolts!

The Cyan Lotus swayed continuously in the lightning’s glow. With every strike it endured, its form grew larger, its color deepened, and its aura became more profound and mysterious.

Seeing this, Chen Li felt reassured. He began Concentrating and Calming the Mind, using the Cyan Lotus for protection as he carefully observed the heavenly lightning tribulation.

After nine terrifying bolts of heavenly lightning, the ink-black tribulation clouds in the sky above the Little World finally began to dissipate. The air, however, remained shrouded in Cloud Mist.

Tempered by nine bolts of heavenly lightning, the Cyan Lotus had grown several times larger. At the center of its five massive leaves, a bud grew and blossomed at a startling rate, finally producing a seedpod that radiated a soft, pure light.

’What is this?!’

Chen Li’s Primordial Spirit watched the sky vigilantly. Only after confirming the tribulation clouds had completely dispersed did he cautiously step out from under the lotus leaf, his gaze fixed intently on the seedpod.

Inside the seedpod were nine round, full, and crystal-clear Lotus Seeds, which radiated a vast life force.

Chen Li’s Primordial Spirit could clearly sense that every single Lotus Seed contained a massive amount of Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.

’This is definitely a top-tier Heavenly Material and Earthly Treasure!’

Chen Li took a deep breath and subconsciously reached out his hand. The nine Lotus Seeds, as if possessing a will of their own, detached from the seedpod and landed gently in the palm of his Primordial Spirit’s hand.

A brief probe with his Divine Sense revealed fluctuations of incomparably pure and boundlessly vast energy, making him ecstatic.

Although he didn’t fully understand the Lotus Seeds’ specific miraculous effects, the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi they contained was so immense that if he consumed and refined them, Chen Li would no longer need to go to Mirror Mountain to absorb its impure and chaotic Primordial Qi.

Meanwhile, a torrential downpour began to fall across the broken Little World.

Raindrops fell upon the parched, desolate, and deep-ochre earth...

A miracle occurred!

The once lifeless, silent earth greedily drank in the rain, like a parched land receiving a long-awaited downpour.

Immediately after, a tender green sprout stubbornly broke through the hard soil and poked its head out.

The vast and boundless desolate world began to radiate with vibrant life.

...

「Outside.」

The dense fog, so thick you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, had arrived abruptly and strangely, but its departure was just as swift.

The dark clouds began to slowly dissipate and rise.

The scorching sun once again pierced through the clouds, scattering its light upon the land.

The thick fog also receded like a tide, rapidly thinning and dissipating until not a trace remained.

The sky was a clear, washed-out blue, as if everything that had just happened was merely an illusion.

The villagers looked up at the clear sky, their faces filled with confusion and bewilderment.

Everyone chattered amongst themselves, but seeing the fine weather and feeling the heart-pounding sensation disappear, they gradually dispersed, returning to their homes to continue with their work.

「A path through the bamboo forest.」

Song Ying was leading several dozen household servants, frantically calling out Chen Li’s name.

Just then, a familiar figure appeared at the end of the path, walking unhurriedly toward the village.

Who else could it be but Chen Li?

"Husband!"

Song Ying’s eyes reddened. Forgetting her decorum, she rushed forward, grabbed Chen Li’s hand, and looked him up and down. "Are you all right? Just now... you scared me to death! Why did you suddenly run out?"

Chen Li turned his hand and clasped her slightly cool hand in his palm. "It’s nothing, just a false alarm. Let’s go back."

Seeing that her husband was safe, Song Ying could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

She hummed a soft "mhm," letting him lead her by the hand as they walked toward the Chen Mansion.

...

「Jingshan County Town.」

「Atop the city gatehouse.」

A figure sat cross-legged atop the upturned eaves.

The person was dressed in coarse black clothes, with a plain and unremarkable face.

He simply sat there quietly, seeming to merge as one with the tiles beneath him and the vast sky behind him.

This was none other than the Water-Participating Ape, a Star Monarch of the Garrison Command’s White Tiger Seven Stars.

His eyes were slightly narrowed, his gaze like that of a sharp hawk, fixed intently on the distance.

After an unknown amount of time, a cyan figure drifted down as silently as a falling leaf.

The newcomer was Gao Changhe, the Governor of Liyang.

Gao Changhe paused for a moment. Seeing that the Water-Participating Ape had no reaction, he took half a step forward and spoke in a low voice, "Star Monarch, you have been observing silently for a long time. Have you noticed anything unusual?"

The Water-Participating Ape maintained his posture of looking at the sky, not even lifting an eyelid.

After several breaths, a detached, cold voice, devoid of any emotional inflection, entered Gao Changhe’s ears: "Heavenly tribulation."
