Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 1019 - 529: Since You Like It, Next Time I’ll Make Sure You Enjoy Yourself
His phone started vibrating in his pocket, like a basin of cold water pouring onto the flames of his desires. He wanted to take out the phone and throw it far, into the park’s pond, but knew he couldn’t. This call could only be from the boss, who must have something to discuss with him. His eyes darkened, his thin lips left that delicate skin, and he picked up the phone with one hand.
"Come over right now." The voice on the phone was commanding and authoritative, impossible to resist, making people obey his orders even through the airwaves.
He set Eliza Bell down, her body still trembling. With one hand on his shoulder, she gently gathered her torn clothes with the other, her little face flushed as she trembled and asked, "Do you have something to do...?"
Julian Carter gazed deeply at her; she was so alluring and tempting now, but today was not the day.
Even though she was so captivating today, making him almost lose control, years of following Joshua Hughes had trained him to rush to his boss’s side immediately and complete any task. This is what a special assistant should do to prove worthy of Joshua Hughes’s trust and earn that hefty salary.
"Since you like it, next time I’ll make sure you enjoy it..." His voice was low and hoarse. Next time, he promised to bring her to a point where she couldn’t even beg for death, to see if she’d dare to casually seduce men again.

Time passed slowly, and Avery Jane felt like a pig, only sleeping and eating while lying in bed. Beckett Wright painstakingly brought her various supplements she couldn’t refuse, so she forced herself to eat them, even though they tasted like wax.
On the tablet, all the news was about Joshua Hughes leaving the Hughes Clan and the scandal involving his rumored girlfriend. What had happened to him lately? How could he leave Hughes Clan? Although the news didn’t explicitly state it, it hinted that all the shareholders were opposed to him continuing to run Hughes Clan. With self-awareness, he knew he wouldn’t be selected at the shareholders’ meeting, so he left on his own to save face. But could that really be the case? Avery Jane pondered blankly. For someone like Joshua Hughes, if he didn’t want to let go of something, how could others take it away?
"Avery, what are you thinking about?" Beckett came over with a small bowl of red date chicken soup, gently asking.
"Nothing..." She lowered her eyes, but the news on the tablet betrayed her thoughts.
"These news pieces are flying around lately, but I believe Joshua Hughes is fine, not forced to leave. You know, the tallest building is being built on the largest plot in the southern city, and even the internal decoration is completed. I heard it will be a new Hughes Clan, and the president’s surname is Hughes. Nowadays, no one else has such power, so I’m guessing that’s Joshua Hughes’s company. Avery, if you’re worried about him, shall I take you to see him? You can ask him personally?" Beckett’s voice was gentle and calming, like a spring breeze.
"No, no need." Avery paused; she never thought about actively seeking out Joshua Hughes. Too much had happened between them, so much that she couldn’t choose or judge, not to mention he quickly had a new woman by his side. She thought he truly liked her, only to realize that she was just a thing of the past.
"Then let’s talk about business. Avery, you won’t be able to keep your job because you’ve taken leave for too long. I’ve been looking for a personal assistant. Don’t overthink it; I posted the information online long before I met you, but haven’t found a suitable candidate. Would you like to be my personal assistant?" Beckett pointed to the bowl of soup placed next to her, signaling her to quickly drink it.
"I don’t think I’m suitable?" Avery took a sip of the soup. Beckett was a very patient man, methodical in his work, and naturally, the soup he made was delicious. She often couldn’t imagine that those hands capable of drawing the most beautiful designs would actually make soup. It was hard to believe those artistic hands would do such things.
"The job isn’t difficult, just a bit tedious. You’d need to organize my schedule with custom clients, book my flights, and handle small things, even personal stuff like restocking the fridge—I’m particular about food—and hiring housekeeping staff. There are many things; would you mind helping me for a while?" His gaze was sincere and straightforward, difficult to refuse. But she knew that Beckett had that kind of feeling for her, yet he’d never pressured her. Perhaps that was why she couldn’t say no. She really couldn’t refuse someone who was kind to her, even though she knew she couldn’t give him love.
