Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 1012 - 525: Bombshell at the Press Conference (Part 3)
:"We don’t mean anything else, Joshua. If you want to continue managing the Hughes Clan, it’s actually not impossible..."
Joshua Hughes’s face showed no sign of emotion as he spoke indifferently, "No need, please all of you leave now. I’ll tidy up and make room for your new chairman who’s already impatiently itching to take over." The corners of his lips curled in a mocking smile as he looked at Luis Hughes. He was quite curious to see how Luis would clean up the mess at the Hughes Clan.
His words were like making everyone swallow a live fly, leaving them speechless as they watched the cold and sarcastic smile that played on Joshua Hughes’s lips. Things definitely weren’t that simple...
:"At least you need to do a handover. If you suddenly quit like this, what will happen to the whole Hughes Clan?" It seemed Joshua Hughes was resolute in his decision, but no one knew exactly when he decided not to continue.
:"I’ve already entrusted everything to my private legal team. They’ll come to handle all the handover. As for business matters, I regret to say that as soon as I announced half an hour ago that I was no longer the chairman of the Hughes Clan, ceasing all duties related to the Hughes Clan, it no longer has any relation to me." Joshua Hughes reclined lazily in his swivel chair, his thick eyelashes masking all the changes in his eyes, leaving no clue for anyone to guess.
Right now, what he wants is enough time to soften Avery Jane’s heart. He absolutely needs enough time.
The door to the office was pushed open once more, and Grace Roe ran in with a pale face, completely void of her usual calmness and elegance.
:"All of you, get out." She looked at them and gestured for everyone to leave.
Julian Carter gave this woman a disinterested glance and turned to leave. Probably showing the news he just saw. In this era where communication is so advanced, it’s not surprising she’d be aware of this bombshell news first thing. But wasn’t it too late to care about her eldest son only now?
:"Tell me, Joshua, tell me what you’ve done to the Hughes Clan?" Her voice trembled slightly. Though her son wasn’t often by her side, she knew his temperament to some degree. Could it be this banquet has thoroughly set him ablaze?
She could turn a blind eye to him fooling around with that woman named Avery Jane, but after all, marriage is a serious matter. That woman absolutely cannot be allowed into the Hughes Family, and she was doing this all for his own good. She wanted to know what happened that night at Hughes Manor, but no one was willing to say anything, not even the housekeeper would divulge a word. Suddenly, everyone at the Hughes Manor had their mouths tightly shut like clams. That was when things got scary; if some fragmented news managed to leak out, it would mean everything was fine. However, this overbearing silence was breeding the most terrifying storm, and its onset was this morning’s press conference. She had been drinking her morning tea, watching TV, when that news segment flashed on, almost causing her heart to leap out.
:"Did what?" Joshua Hughes smiled faintly, forming a stark contrast to the anxious demeanor of the woman before him.
:"Would you really care about what I did? What you care about is how Luis will manage after I’m gone, right?" Joshua Hughes’s voice was soft, yet cold, like falling snowflakes.
:"Joshua, why don’t you believe me? My love for you isn’t less than for Luis by a bit," Grace Roe said painfully. Out of guilt, she always tried to do things to make his life better, yet he didn’t like it at all, not appreciating, even hating everything she did.
:"If you really want Avery Jane, Mom can help you. Joshua, don’t mess things up..." No matter how the outside world talked about Joshua Hughes being intimately close with a rising new model, only she knew that the person who held Joshua’s heart was Avery Jane.
Joshua Hughes’s heart throbbed painfully. Her help, it’s too late, that girl is now hurt and hiding out at another man’s place, recovering. And now, he can’t do anything, fearing to upset her, so he’s stuck feeling heartbroken, jealous, filled with regret to the point where it almost consumes him. This feeling is terrible.
:"You’d better worry about something else..." His low, hoarse voice sounded like the devil’s whisper, with his words casting Grace Roe into an abyss of despair.
