Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 1009 - 524: Joshua Hughes, I’ve Been Punished
:"Three days later, at the press conference, I will resign from the position of CEO of the Hughes Clan." All his life, Luis Hughes wanted to beat him just once, but he won’t even give him this final chance. This time, it’s not that he won over him; it’s that he didn’t want this position. His cold lips curled into a devilish smile. He was curious to see how Conny Hughes and Luis Hughes would handle this mess.
:"There are still some documents that haven’t been processed properly, and furthermore..." Julian Carter frowned at Joshua Hughes; damn it, does he want him dead? His boss has always been this way, exploiting his labor, but what can he say? In three days, three sleepless nights would take years off his lifespan. He’s not a twenty-year-old young man anymore; staying up all night is really harmful to the body.
:"Just three days, you can leave now." Joshua Hughes looked at the scenery outside the window, his gaze drifting far away, so far that it couldn’t be captured. Julian Carter couldn’t understand the changes in Joshua Hughes’s facial expressions and left angrily. He estimated that he’d have to live like a robot for these three days. After these three days, he planned to take a long vacation, one where he could leisurely bask in the sun on a beach. He hasn’t taken a vacation for almost ten years.

Avery Jane lay weakly on the bed; in her current state, she truly couldn’t get through it alone, so refusing Beckett Wright’s care would seem pretentious.
Beckett Wright rented a duplex apartment in the city center. He had a small room upstairs, with clear windows and a clean table. On the floor was a tatami mat covered with a clean, soft blanket, where Avery Jane nestled with a dull ache in her abdomen. But no pain could compare to the one in her heart. If that child existed, she might be a domineering girl like Joshua Hughes. She liked little girls in dresses, but none of that was possible now...
:"Avery Jane, this is red date and goji tea with brown sugar. Drink it if you’re thirsty. I’m simmering chicken soup; it’ll be ready to drink soon." Beckett Wright had a gentle smile, holding a glass filled with a dark red liquid that emitted a rich aroma.
:"Thank you." Avery Jane’s voice was faint, as if such things had already drained her life force, leaving her barely able to speak.
:"Avery Jane, I told you before that I don’t want any promises from you. As long as you like, I can be any kind of relationship in the dynamics between a man and woman, like a friend, brother, lover, co-worker, or even something else, you understand?" Beckett Wright wore a beige linen homewear, sitting on a cushion made of woven straw, his gentle voice as soothing as a spring breeze. The red date tea was thick and fragrant, the sweet, warm liquid slowly sliding down her esophagus into her stomach. After finishing the red date tea, she slowly curled up into the blanket, like a snail retreating into its shell, unwilling to come out, not even extending her antennae.
If she had met Beckett Wright first, he might just be the warm prince that girls dream of, marrying such a man would be blissful. But she met someone else, a man who was extremely domineering, strong and irresistible, like how an addict cannot resist the temptation of drugs. He was even harder to quit than the purest drugs. But she couldn’t accept this man; from before until now, every encounter would drown her in confusion and pain...
Beckett Wright gently left the room, silently closing the door. At this time, this wounded girl only wanted to lick her wounds alone, and what he could give her was absolute freedom to pass through this most difficult period without disturbance.
