Chapter 139 - 139: The Egg

After watching the two snakes enter the poison lake and accepting the rewards for the event Ezekiel flew out to continue his dungeon run and attempt to finish before the game closed to update the system.

Due to his mana being reduced so significantly however he had to put his extra points from each level up during the event into growing his mana regen as well as his damage.

Luckily it seemed as if each point was increasing his mana regen at a normally level rather than the conversion being ten to one like his mana pool.

After dumping every last bit of his stats into growing his mana regeneration he flew out to hunt.

The Frenzied Void version of each spell only seemed to destroy the target rather than spreading like shadowfire so he couldn't simply use that to destroy the forest like before, it made hunting every single enemy so much harder.

By looking for monsters with his mana sight he was able to target beasts who were hiding away from dense pockets of mana, these hunts gave him a few benefits but he was starting to notice that the growth rate was slowing.

After killing every creature in a wide area he decided to practice the same method as before to improve his body.

In this area he pulled in such dense quantities of mana that his own mana veins began to swell with the overgrowth of energy while pushing the mana through his body.

Each cycle of mana coming in through his core as a thin stream of energy before being pushed through his core and mana veins to convert into void mana, this mana through his control then pushed through his body to nourish the muscle and bone as well as organs while every impure piece was destroyed and removed.

Microscopic parasites his body would never notice, pockets of dying flesh and tiny masses of infection.

Small and unimportant growths that made the organs less effective but did not put his life at risk.

It was as if the mana were destroying the pieces of his body that kept it from reaching peak condition while tempering what remained to become even stronger as a result of the damage it caused to fix these impurities.

He repeated the cycle over and over as the dense mana in this location helped him to make the process so much faster by giving him enough to force through the mana veins to expand them so much more.

When he felt the impurities reaching the edge of his skin like before he pulled in as much mana as he possibly could to circulate it in a constant flow before one sudden rush of the mana he used forced the impurities out of his body.

Since dungeons would push him back out in a perfectly cleaned state while having such dense mana inside of it he simply had to take advantage.

It also seemed that his mana grew from this practice based on the result, just like mana cultivation.

After the event and the cultivation he saw that he only had a few hours before forced logout so he took this moment to see what the egg he got from his dungeon event reward was.

Hatch Snake Queen Egg?

He simply indicated that he did wish to and the system took care of the rest.

As the egg appeared from his inventory he watched as the very large but simple white egg floated in the air as a surge of mana poured into this vessel.

'Some games take time to hatch an egg, they usually show a timer to force players to wait. Others force players to actually incubate the egg correctly or face failure, at least BLO seems to be pretty generous and hatch immediately.'

When the mana finished he saw a pip in the egg as fluid poured out of the tiny hole like a stream.

He carefully held the egg in his hands as he watched a black and green head poke out of the egg and stare up at him with a system prompt.

Vampiric Serpent LV 1

A child of the Snake Queen baring the ancient Naga bloodline and a strange snake baring the bloodline of ancient vampires.

He gently stroked the serpent as it lazily left the egg while he considered a name for it.

'An ancient serpent bloodline linked to nagas with vampiric lineage from gods knows what...'

"Hey system are nagas divine in this world?'

The naga species was a hybrid species of the ancient divine dragons and the ancient devils. Masters of magic and physically powerful enough to defeat even the strongest demons in battle, these creatures were eventually forced into near extinction long after the naga had separated from both draconic and infernal society.

Only a single pure born naga remains, the naga queen born of a divine dragon queen and an ancient devil.

'Oh now this lore is juicy... I think I know exactly what to name this serpent.'

After checking the system to see the serpent's gender was female he declared her name as Amaru.

He smiled as he let her curl her body around his own for warmth until she looked like a large, muscular sash under his robes.

During that moment he took his time to observe her, he saw that on top of her head was a small crown of horns like the Queen but her horns were barely nubs.

She also had nubs across the bridge above her eyes that reminded him of a certain snake in the real world but that was where the similarities ended.

Atop her head and running down all the way to her tail was a frill the color of emerald green with vivid, pulsing red veins while along the side of her head and neck was a hood similar to a cobra but at the edge of her hood he saw very obvious signs of the hood being more similar to wings as the hood held rib like bulges inside of it.

His suspicion was confirm as the hood flared out dramatically to embrace more heat from his body with small claws at the edges of the hood lightly holding onto him while her head looked out of his robe at the world before ber.

Finally the tip of her tail at first resembled a rattle but then he realized that he was very wrong as a flex of the muscle at the end caused a razor sharp needle to protrude from the end.

He thought about the boss of the dungeon and how it had such skill manipulating poison mana even at the lowest difficulty of the dungeon, if serpents held the bloodline of the naga species then more powerful serpents must be truly terrifying mages.

With that he took Amaru to continue farming experience in the dungeon, he had a notification when he hatched her egg but he wanted to see if killing enemies with her registered as a pet would actually give her experience or not

Deep inside of a castle that lay on a continent shrouded in darkness.

An extravagant throne began to glow and thrum with power as a pair of cold faced guards turned to look.

They activated a charm at each of their necks simultaneously and within a short time these pale skinned guards watched as a well dressed figure with mocha skin entered to confirm the throne had awakened.

"So the bloodline has been passed on, the curse on our family is lifted... I will find them my lord."

The man kneeled down before the empty throne with his eyes flashing a deep, crimson glow.

High in the heavens a figure stood from their nest and lazily floated over to the windows of their room.

It was humanoid in appearance but the scaled skin and savage fangs exposed by their yawn would never be mistaken for a simple humanoid figure.

They did not hide their body with anything beyond glistening gems that radiated magic while set in beautiful silverish-blue jewelry.

The body of this entity was large and imposing with arms that would easily grip a man by the torso like a pet, legs that would crush stone with a simple stomp, shoulders and a powerful torso.

She was the naga queen and a sudden tickle of connection had woken her from her slumber.

'A serpent? How odd... well let's take a glimpse into her future to see if she truly can revive my bloodline.'

She hid herself from the constant pain of her lost mate as she dove into her power to divine the future of this strange serpent.

Her vision went black as she looked around to find the future figure of what she felt before she realized that the world was not dark but rather she was standing in a shadow.

She slowly looked up as she saw the head of a serpent so gargantuan it bloated out the sun, the power radiating from this creature screamed that it was not simply a naga but something far beyond that.

As the snake flashed with power and rose into the sky in the feminine naga form similar to her own glorious frame she saw the naga next to what looked to be a devil.

'A male devil... so many wings, is this her mate? Why is she hugging his back instead of keeping him behind her like a mate should for her male?'

As she watched the pair she saw the naga who had left a path of destruction suddenly raised a lazy hand towards a force rising into the sky towards the two, with a wave of her hand the naga cast a spell and the Queen felt proud that despite the dark coloration of the female naga she had indeed awakened the ancestral affinity of her people.

A spell combining light and lightning mana surged out in a cataclysmic beam spell that completely erased the forces rising to meet them and when the spell ended the Queen something that shocked her more than before.

Rising to the sky was a dark figure she was intimately familiar with and sewing this figure sent a stab of pain straight into her own heart as tears flowed down her face while the dark figure rose to hug the pair and pet the naga on her head like a child.
