Chapter 109: The reason: Jealousy
June 9 2026, 9:10pm.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, it was because she was jealous.
It was because in her twenty-one years of existence, the only emotion she had perfectly honed and nurtured was jealousy.
Jealousy was the reason Elara had befriended Nyx’ara when they were five years old in the first place. It was the reason she had pretended to be ’nice and weak’ just to infiltrate Nyx’ara’s friend group and even her brother, Tristan.
Then, the only thing she had liked about the white-haired girl was her lunchbox. She also loved the way her mother used to pack her lunchlike she was about to air in one of these food-tasting shows. Elara, on the other hand, grew up barely scraping by. She was always broke and filthy while her parents spent every second of their time arguing.
One day, after school, she had accidentally walked in on Nyx’ara and her family, and goddess, that was the day she decided that she wanted everything the girl had.
Within a week, they had become best friends and while the dumb Nyx’ara had been generous enough to share her stuff with her, Elara decided that she wanted more. That she wanted to be the one giving out her things to Nyx’ara...
...that she wanted the tables to turn.
Her mother was smart enough to get Nyx’ara’s father into her bed. She was also smart enough to get the man wrapped around her pinky finger, making it even easier to get into the family. Her father and Nyx’ara’s mother then decided to take long trips to the afterlife, paving the way for Elara to rise to the top...
...and ladies and gentlemen, that was how she rose to the top.
Tristan had been her souvenir. It was no news that she could not stand him. However, the idea of having him to herself was what kept her going. So when she learned that her Tristan had begun seeing a girl from one of the neighboring packs— rumor even had it that the girl was so beautiful, she rivaled the moon goddess— Elara got mad.
Her first thought had been to threaten the girl away. Many nights, she stayed up late, thinking of all the ways she could bully the girl into staying far away from Tristan but she was always unlucky.
So that night, after she had gone through Tristan’s phone and saw that he was to meet with the girl, the girl whose name was Leilani, she had exploded in a fit of rage and jealousy.
Her body had vibrated so much, hell’s wrath could not be compared to what she felt; And throwing caution to the wind, she let him touch her that night. She let him fuck her until her legs were trembling and her body was pulsating with so much pleasure, it was insane.
She took him again and again until he had no cum left to release.
She had watched him quickly get dressed shortly afterwards and imagined her fingers raking through his damp hair that stuck to his temples. And when she asked him; "Where are you off to, tonight?" In that sultry voice that she knew he liked, he’d said;
"To the gym. I have to meet with friends."
Tristan had lied to her.
For the first time since she’d known him, he had looked her straight in the eyes and lied!
And goddess, that realization hit her harder than anything she’s ever felt. Her face instantly shut down and her heart closed up, just as an intoxicating amount of jealousy began to stew inside of her chest.
And do you know what Tristan did when he saw her sulking?
He had the effrontery to ruffle her hair, pressed a kiss to her temple, and said; "Don’t worry, I’ll be back before you know it. There’s no way I’ll prefer the company of those stinky guys to you, my angel."
What he didn’t know, however, was that she had looked through his phone earlier that day and seen his chats with the Leilani girl... and he also did not know that she had scrolled through their chat’s media storage and seen all the pictures they had sent back and forth between each other.
The girl that Elara had seen in those pictures was not a ’stinky guy’. She was a badass sexy wench who made her feel inferior.
She waited until Tristan was gone before she snuck out of his room and into her mother’s room. She then searched through her mother’s closet, knowing fully well that her mother always had all the different kinds of potions you could ever think about.
Why though?
She never cared to know. All she knew was that the potions saved her mother a whole lot and helped her too in her times of need.
And wait... is this the part where I chirp in a bit of a secret?
Yes...? No?
Anyways, whatever. Celine is a witch. Or not. I do not expect you to believe me yet, so let’s return to talking about Elara and that night.
That night, Elara realized to her horror that there weren’t enough potions in her mother’s closet to cause enough harm so she picked the only two that seemed somewhat useful to her.
"The veiling draught and the Memorybane— that is simply a forgetting potion."
She had no idea what to use any of them for but as she walked out of her mother’s room, ideas began to click at the back of her skull. She imagined beating the girl up then wiping off her memories of that night with the Memorybane.
She imagined force-feeding Tristan the potion to make him forget everything about the new girl.
She shook her head. "No, no that won’t work!"
Her hand gripped hard at her handbag as she made her way to the pack’s rooftop library because she had read through their chats enough to know that that was where they had decided to meet.
Her flat pumps made soft sounds as she walked through the deserted school’s parking lot and then she got into the elevator, clicked on the highest floor, and pressed her hand to her beating chest as it quietly rode all the way up.
The sharp ding of the elevator as she arrived at the top floor startled Tristan who had been standing close to it. His hopeful eyes lit up as the elevator doors opened and his face fell at once when he saw Elara standing there with a smug smile.
His heart dropped.
"What are you doing here?"
