Bloodbound Codex: I Grow Stronger in Secret
Chapter 314: Time Reversal?
Atlas turned toward Trelisa once again, his expression becoming completely serious. "Alright, then. I guess you Weimbrons’ day to meet the End has come." He spoke without hesitation, and Trelisa’s blush only became more noticeable as she held her cheeks with both hands.
She looked at Atlas with even greater interest before speaking in a playful voice, "Alright, show me how you will End us. I want to see it so bad~."
Atlas narrowed his eyes as he considered his next move. ’I would have liked to see what her abilities are first, just like I did with Melina, but... She is strong. Strong beyond anything I have ever faced. It’s best if I end this in an instant.’ Since he didn’t know what abilities she possessed, there was no reason for him to continue observing her when he could simply use his strongest methods from the beginning.
With that thought, Atlas extended his hand and immediately altered the Logic of Space surrounding the entire ship.
The moment he did so, the space around the massive vessel fractured like glass. The ship itself began bending inward as the surrounding space distorted around it, making the entire vessel appear as though it shouldn’t even exist within that particular space.
Atlas didn’t stop there as he maintained the alteration and watched the ship continue to distort under the changed Logic, intending to destroy the entire vessel before anyone inside could interfere. However, Trelisa’s expression immediately became serious as she looked toward the ship before slowly turning her eyes toward Atlas.
She lifted one hand and snapped her fingers.
SNAP!
The moment the sound echoed through the water, the entire spatial fracture disappeared. The ship returned to its previous state, while the distortion surrounding it completely reversed as though the Logic Atlas had altered moments earlier had been restored to its original condition. Atlas narrowed his eyes as he watched the phenomenon.
’Is she reversing back time?’ He couldn’t be certain, because what she had done could have been caused by another ability entirely, and he didn’t have enough information to determine the exact principle behind it. He didn’t waste more time trying to figure it out and instead sighed internally. ’I really should end this in one go.’
Atlas extended his hand toward Trelisa once again.
’Mu-En.’ The moment he thought the name, the Flames of Nothingness materialized at the tip of his index finger. He didn’t fire them, nor did he move from his position; he simply allowed the flame to remain there for a brief moment while Trelisa’s expression changed as she stared at it.
She immediately understood that it wasn’t an ordinary flame, especially since it could continue existing even beneath the enormous depths of Frostars’ waters. More importantly, the strange flame didn’t behave like ordinary fire at all, and even Trelisa could sense that its existence itself was fundamentally different from normal energy-based attacks.
What made her eyes widen, however, was the feeling that suddenly spread throughout her entire being. A sense of dread appeared within her as she stared at the small flame, and for the first time, her playful expression disappeared.
’What is that flame?’ Yet unlike Melina, who had immediately cowered upon sensing the Flames of Nothingness, Trelisa remained calm and simply observed it. She continued watching the flame for that brief moment, trying to understand its nature, before Atlas suddenly made his move.
In a single instant, the flame appeared directly in front of Trelisa, only a millimeter away from her body. Her instincts immediately screamed in alarm, and every cell within her body seemed to give her the same warning.
Dodge.
Her instincts didn’t tell her to counter the flame, nor did they tell her to block it. They only warned her to get away from it immediately, because if the flame touched her...She would die. Trelisa vanished from her position without hesitation and reappeared somewhere else entirely, successfully escaping the attack before it could reach her.
The speed of her reaction was so great that Atlas didn’t even attempt to predict her movement and instead immediately followed her, already expecting that someone at her level would possess enough instincts to recognize the danger of Mu-En.
Atlas had done nothing more than alter the Logic of Space surrounding the Flames of Nothingness, changing their position from the tip of his finger directly to the location where Trelisa had been standing. A faint grin appeared across Atlas’s face when he saw her successfully dodge the attack. ’I knew you could and would do exactly that.’
He had deliberately moved the flame directly into her position rather than launching it normally because he wanted to force her instincts to reveal how she would react to an attack she couldn’t afford to touch. The moment she vanished, Atlas disappeared from his position as well, following her before she could create enough distance to escape his next attack.
Melina, who had witnessed the exchange, trembled even more as she watched Atlas pursue Trelisa. "N-No, Sir Atlas... E-Even if you are strong, she is on a different class entirely." Her voice trembled as she looked toward the palace, and her perception immediately detected her father’s body lying motionless on the throne.
The moment she confirmed that he was truly dead, tears began flowing from her eyes. "F-Father..."
Before she could vanish and appear beside her father’s body, Atlas’s voice suddenly reached her mind. ’Take this. Pour as much energy as you can into it, and it will bring your father back to how he was.’ The Cataclysm Relic, which possessed the ability to turn back time, materialized directly in front of Melina before falling into her palms.
Atlas had already decided that there was no reason to leave Melina helplessly watching her father’s corpse while he continued fighting, especially when he possessed something capable of restoring him.
She stared silently at its strange pattern for a long moment, as though she needed to make sure she had really heard Atlas correctly, before turning toward the direction he had disappeared with tears still covering her face.
’T-Thank you, Sir Atlas! I swear I will repay you this debt!’
Melina immediately vanished from her position and appeared in front of her father’s dead body. She didn’t waste another moment before doing exactly what Atlas had instructed her to do, pouring her energy into the Cataclysm Relic as she desperately hoped it would be enough to restore her father.
Her attention was no longer on the battle between Atlas and Trelisa, because the only thing that mattered to her now was bringing the man who had just died back to life.
On the other hand, Atlas appeared directly behind Trelisa just after she had dodged the Flames of Nothingness. Before she could react, he immediately altered the Logic of Space around her and locked her position in place.
"Khug!" Atlas felt an enormous backlash the moment he completed the alteration, and the pressure was so severe that it felt as though his skull was about to burst apart.
However, that Event of pain was immediately consumed by his Event Absorption, causing the accumulated strain to disappear before it could affect him further. The ability allowed Atlas to remove the Event of pain after it occurred, meaning the backlash still happened, but its effect could no longer remain within his body.
Trelisa’s eyes widened as she suddenly realized that she couldn’t move. She turned her head backward and saw Atlas already moving toward her, his fist covered in the Flames of Nothingness. His expression remained completely calm as he brought the attack down toward her with overwhelming speed.
Without wasting another moment, Atlas altered the Logic of Speed for his own body, increasing the speed of his punch even further before his fist finally connected directly with Trelisa’s face.
BOOOOOOOOM!!
A deafening shockwave erupted from the impact as the enormous force of Atlas’s punch dispersed the surrounding water instantly. The water around them was pushed away over a massive area, leaving the battlefield temporarily clear as the force of the attack spread outward.
The Flames of Nothingness covering Atlas’s fist immediately began burning through Trelisa’s body, and Atlas watched as the strange flames rapidly consumed her entire existence. Unlike a normal physical attack, Mu-En didn’t simply damage the target’s body; once it successfully came into contact with an existence, its flames began erasing what they touched.
Within moments, Trelisa’s body disappeared completely.
There was nothing left behind.
Atlas vanished from that position and immediately appeared in front of the massive ship. He looked toward the enormous vessel as he thought, ’It must have been only that woman who had come here. Now—!’ Before he could finish his thought, his instincts suddenly screamed at the highest level.
The warning came so suddenly that Atlas immediately understood that someone had entered his blind spot without him noticing.
Someone was behind him.
