Bloodbound Codex: I Grow Stronger in Secret
Chapter 280: Revenge - II
Atlas’s hand pierced directly through the Progenitor’s chest while Azarion was still conscious within the same body. The moment Atlas appeared, Azarion had completely stopped his retaliation against Luberion’s remaining soul fragment and turned toward the person who had suddenly appeared in front of him.
His eyes widened in horror the instant they landed on Atlas. He recognized him immediately, and for the first time since regaining control of his consciousness, genuine fear spread through his mind.
"-!"
Atlas didn’t give him any time to react. His hand slowly closed around Azarion’s heart before he pulled it out of his chest in a single deliberate motion.
"KHUGH!!"
Azarion immediately vomited a mouthful of blood as immense pain spread throughout his body. His breathing became extremely difficult, and his lungs felt as though they were about to burst from the pressure.
Atlas, however, remained completely calm as he looked at the heart in his hand before the Flames of Nothingness instantly engulfed it and erased it from existence. Only after doing so did he finally speak, his voice as calm as ever.
"Don’t worry. You won’t die because I ripped your heart out. I have altered the Logic connecting your death to your heart being ripped out." The words sent a chill through Azarion’s entire body. He had already experienced Atlas’s ability before, through Orivian’s battle while he was inside the body.
But hearing him casually explain that he had simply altered the Logic of his death made the situation feel far more terrifying. Atlas wasn’t simply attacking him. He was deciding which consequences were allowed to happen to his body.
"Now that all of your abilities and powers have been sealed, you’re no more than an ordinary Human." Atlas tilted his head slightly to the side, a faint grin appearing across his face as he looked directly into Azarion’s horrified eyes. "So, tell me... how does it feel to be in the exact same situation I was in?"
Azarion’s pupils trembled. "Back then, I had no power. I wasn’t even a cultivator, and you deliberately sent me toward my death because of your schemes." Atlas’s voice remained calm, but there was a clear hatred buried beneath every word. "You decided that someone like me could simply be thrown away because I was a commoner without spiritual roots, so tell me, Azarion... doesn’t it feel amazing?"
The moment those words reached him, Azarion’s expression became extremely pale. He finally understood what Atlas intended to do, and the memories of that day immediately resurfaced inside his mind.
...
"Atlas Mariorett, a commoner, huh? He doesn’t even have spiritual roots?"
Azarion looked toward the bruised figure standing in front of him, Atlas’s hands bound by chains while his body showed the injuries he had received beforehand. The Human King wore a faint smile as he examined him before continuing, "Ho ho, you’re the best candidate for this mission. If you pass, you’ll be granted a position among the Noble Houses. Perhaps a grand life awaits you!"
Azarion’s expression remained amused as he looked around at the other Nobles, "Everyone, wouldn’t you agree? If one of you can bring him into your family, he could probably do a great job. Maybe..."
A mocking smile stretched across his face, "Cleaning your house? Or perhaps licking your shoes clean?"
The surrounding Nobles laughed.
Atlas gritted his teeth as he listened to their words, his hands still restrained by the chains. He could do nothing. He possessed no cultivation, no strength, and no status that could allow him to resist them.
Azarion simply laughed at his helpless expression before the memory faded.
...
Azarion suddenly snapped back to reality.
Blood slowly trickled from his nostrils as he felt a strange sting pass through his mind. He frowned for a moment, but before he could understand what Atlas had done, the pain already spreading throughout his body suddenly increased tenfold.
"Now the real torture begins." Atlas remained completely calm as he looked at Azarion. "I will alter the Logic of the pain inside your body and multiply it little by little every second, until you eventually beg me for death."
Before Azarion could properly process those words, the pain suddenly increased a hundredfold.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
His entire body convulsed from the sudden increase, and his consciousness nearly collapsed under the sensation. Atlas had done nothing more than flick his forehead, yet the pain spreading through Azarion’s body was already enough to make him struggle to remain conscious.
The people watching from a distance immediately noticed the change, and Kael couldn’t help but swallow hard as he stared at Atlas, ’I would never want to end up on his bad side.’ Even as a System Holder and a transmigrator who had already witnessed many strange abilities in this world, Kael’s hands and legs trembled slightly.
What concerned him wasn’t simply the amount of pain Atlas could inflict, but the fact that Atlas could directly alter the Logic behind something as basic as pain. There was no need for a special technique or an external weapon. Atlas could simply change the way pain affected a person’s body.
"Hmm, it is working." Atlas narrowed his eyes slightly before continuing, "One thousand times."
The moment he increased the alteration, Atlas felt a faint strain appear inside his mind. It was far weaker than the mental burden caused by some of his previous uses of Mu-Ri, but he immediately understood the reason for it.
The greater the change he imposed on the Logic of a phenomenon, the greater the strain placed on his mind. He had already expected something like this, so he didn’t stop.
"KHUAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Azarion screamed as Atlas drove his fist into his abdomen. The Logic governing the pain inside his body had now been increased to a thousand times its original intensity, causing the pain from the impact to spread through his entire body.
Azarion’s body shook violently as he tried to endure it, but Atlas didn’t give him any time to recover.
He simply increased the alteration again, "Ten thousand times."
Azarion’s eyes immediately filled with blood as another scream escaped his mouth, "GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
His mind began becoming dizzy, and his consciousness started approaching the point where it would normally shut down. Atlas immediately noticed the change and understood that Azarion was about to lose consciousness.
"That won’t do, you’re not allowed to go unconscious." Atlas immediately altered the Logic governing Azarion’s consciousness, forcing it to remain awake regardless of the amount of pain being inflicted upon his body. The moment the alteration was completed, the strain inside Atlas’s mind suddenly increased considerably more than before.
’Maybe it’s because there are three consciousnesses inside the same body?’ Atlas briefly considered the possibility before dismissing it. He couldn’t care less whether Luberion’s remaining soul fragment would also experience the pain.
If anything, there was no reason for him to stop because of it. He wanted Azarion to understand exactly what it meant to be completely helpless in front of someone else.
The moment the alteration took effect, Azarion’s eyes widened again. He could feel that something had changed inside his consciousness, and he soon realized that it wasn’t only his own consciousness that had been affected.
Orivian and Luberion’s remaining soul fragment had also felt the change, although none of the three could immediately understand exactly what Atlas had done to them, "Now, the pain will be increased to a millionfold."
Atlas spoke without changing his expression.
The moment he altered the Logic to that degree, the strain inside his own mind increased sharply. Even so, Atlas didn’t hesitate. He immediately moved forward and punched Azarion with all the physical strength he possessed while simultaneously altering the Logic governing Azarion’s movement, forcing his body to remain completely still.
BOOOM!!
An enormous shockwave spread out from behind Azarion as his body bent forward from the force of the punch. The pain took a moment to register before it suddenly spread throughout his entire body.
"KUGHH!!"
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
The force of the punch shattered several of his bones while his abdomen was torn open from one side. Blood poured from the wound, and his internal organs became visible as the ashen organic armor covering his body struggled to repair itself. However, Azarion wasn’t the only one experiencing the pain.
Because Atlas had altered the Logic of the phenomenon itself, all three consciousnesses inside the body were affected by the same sensation: Orivian, Azarion and Luberion.
"GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Azarion’s jaw strained from the force of his scream as his body hung toward the ground. His consciousness repeatedly attempted to escape the pain by shutting down, but Atlas’s alteration prevented him from doing so.
Atlas continued maintaining the altered Logic while repeatedly punching him, making sure that every strike reached his body while his consciousness remained awake.
One minute passed.
Then another.
Atlas continued the same process without saying anything. He punched Azarion again, then again, and continued doing so while maintaining the Logic that prevented him from losing consciousness. The people watching from a distance remained silent as they observed the scene, while Kael could only stand there and watch Atlas continue his revenge.
Ten minutes passed before Azarion’s screams finally began to weaken. His body continued trembling, and his voice had become much quieter than before, but his consciousness was still being forced to remain awake. Atlas had made sure that even the natural response of losing consciousness was no longer available to him.
Finally, Azarion managed to speak.
"P-Please stop..."
His breathing was weak as he struggled to raise his head.
"Please... no more..."
Atlas looked at him without saying anything, ’Finally...’ he thought before a grin surfaced on his face, ’Unfortunately for you...I am far from finished, you bastard!’
