Bloodbound Codex: I Grow Stronger in Secret
Chapter 213: Kael Mortisano
Kael Mortisano—the supposed perverted disciple of Queen Eliana—had a completely different kind of past from what anyone in Eliomor would imagine him to have.
He was a...Transmigrator, although even that word did not completely fit his situation. This world was not a novel or a story he had ever read, so there was no plot he could remember, no characters whose fates he already knew, and no knowledge of what was supposed to happen next. Reincarnation did not fit either because he had not been reborn into this world.
He had simply found himself inside someone else’s body, and that body belonged to an Elf at that. As far as Kael was concerned, Transmigration was the closest word he could use to describe what had happened to him.
Unlike what many people would expect from someone who suddenly found himself in another world, Kael did not have a tragic past on Earth. He had been an orphan, but that did not mean he had lived a miserable life. He had several good friends he could spend time with, a decent job that allowed him to live without constantly worrying about money, and most importantly, he had a girlfriend whom he genuinely cherished.
Their relationship had already reached the point where he had started thinking about marrying her, and although they had not officially become husband and wife yet, Kael had already considered her his future wife in his mind. His life had not been perfect, but it had been peaceful enough for him to be satisfied with it.
So, if someone asked how a person who had been perfectly content with his life suddenly ended up in another world, the answer was surprisingly simple.
Kael had been sitting in his room preparing to play a game he had recently bought from the market when the entire room suddenly filled with System screens. He had barely managed to understand what he was seeing before everything around him changed. In the next moment, he was sitting inside a classroom surrounded by Elven students, and the first thing he noticed was not the System, nor the strange situation, but the people around him.
He stared at the Elves for quite some time.
Rather than panicking, screaming, or immediately trying to figure out how to escape, Kael simply looked at their pointed ears, their unusual appearances, and the differences between them and humans with genuine fascination. He had read enough novels to understand what kind of situation he might be in, but reading about Elves and actually seeing them standing in front of him were two completely different experiences. The fact that they were real made the situation far more interesting than frightening to him.
Only after spending some time observing the students did another System screen finally appear in front of him.
That was when Kael understood that he had actually been transmigrated into another world.
He had read enough novels to know how these situations usually worked, and he also understood that asking the System endless questions about why he had been brought here would probably accomplish nothing. If the System wanted to explain his situation, it would have done so already. Since it had not, Kael quietly accepted the fact that he probably would not receive an answer about how to return to Earth.
However, accepting that fact did not mean he had given up on returning.
That part had been decided from the very beginning.
Kael loved his girlfriend too much to simply accept that she would have to live the rest of her life without knowing what had happened to him. He had no idea how much time had passed on Earth, whether she was searching for him, or whether she had already accepted that he was dead, but none of those possibilities changed his goal. If there was even the smallest possibility of returning, he would pursue it.
And the method was obvious to someone who had grown up reading novels.
He needed strength.
Not ordinary strength, either. Kael needed to become unimaginably powerful, powerful enough that finding Earth and returning there would become nothing more than a matter of snapping his fingers. That became his goal from the moment he understood that this world was real, and with the assistance of his System, he began climbing through the ranks of the Academy.
At first, Kael had been nothing special compared to the geniuses around him. However, the System changed that quickly. Every advantage it provided allowed him to improve faster than those around him, and the more he progressed, the more he realized just how useful the System actually was. He stopped being one of the mediocre students and slowly climbed toward the highest ranks within the Academy.
Kael also discovered that his current body came from a Noble family, which meant he had been placed into one of the greatest Academies on the entire Elven Continent. The Academy was important enough that even Queen Eliana occasionally visited to observe the younger generation, and during those visits, she sometimes selected talented students for the position of Revenant, the direct Knight Order serving under Her Majesty.
When Kael learned that, he immediately understood that such an opportunity could not be wasted.
The moment Queen Eliana came to inspect the students, Kael deliberately revealed a portion of his abilities instead of hiding them as he normally would. He did not show everything because there was no reason to expose all his cards, but he displayed enough to ensure that her attention would remain on him.
His plan worked.
Eliana noticed him.
Not only did she notice him, she eventually chose him as her disciple.
For Kael, becoming Eliana’s disciple was another major step toward his goal because it placed him directly beside one of the strongest individuals on the Elven Continent. Through her, he gained access to people and information that would have taken him years to approach on his own, and throughout the following year, his position continued to rise.
However, something else changed during that year as well.
Kael became genuinely close to Eliana.
At first, their relationship had been nothing more than that of a Queen and her disciple, but as they spent more time together, Kael became comfortable enough around her that he could joke with her without constantly worrying about his position. Eliana also became accustomed to his personality, which was probably one of the reasons people who saw them from the outside eventually developed all sorts of strange assumptions about their relationship.
For Kael, though, everything had been moving in the right direction.
His System continued assisting him, his strength kept increasing, and after only a year in Eliomor, he had already reached a level where he could be counted among the strongest individuals in the world. If things continued like this, he believed that returning to Earth would eventually become possible.
Yet the situation before him right now was different from anything he had encountered before.
The endless beam of energy stretching into the sky had already attracted the attention of the strongest individuals in the world, but what truly caught Kael’s attention was not the beam itself. It was the System’s reaction to it.
Throughout the entire year he had lived in Eliomor, the System had never once failed to analyze something for him. Even when he encountered people or objects that were considered the highest-ranked existences in the world, the System had always provided him with information. Sometimes that information was limited, but it had never simply admitted that something was beyond his ability to understand.
Today, however, it had failed.
Not once, but repeatedly.
Worse, it had directly told him that he could not obtain the information because his mental prowess was too weak to handle it.
For the first time since arriving in Eliomor, Kael was looking at something his System itself could not properly explain.
Instead of fear, however, another emotion began rising within him.
Excitement.
That had always been one of Kael’s most obvious personality traits. Whenever he encountered something unusual, someone interesting, or a situation that he could not immediately understand, his curiosity quickly turned into excitement. The stranger the situation became, the more interested he became in finding its answer.
This time was no different.
’Heh, this is quite the predicament, don’t you think, my dearest System? And I think you’re going to give me a Quest about this situation right now, right?’ Kael mused inwardly as he stared toward the endless beam. Considering that the System had never encountered such a situation before, he believed there was a good chance it would react by giving him a Quest. He had barely finished the thought when the familiar System voice appeared in his mind.

Kael’s eyes immediately narrowed slightly as another screen appeared before him.
