Taesan’s POV

"I caught you" my older sister says from behind me, and her phone almost slips out of my hand to the floor.

"Noona, what the fuck?" I ask, and she smirks, sitting next to me on the floor.

"You’re working while injured, aren’t you?" she asks.

I zero in on the cigarette between her fingers, and she immediately hides it behind her back, giving me a warning glare to stop me from saying anything about it.

"Shut up" she says.

"You reek of Yuki" I say, wrinkling my nose as if I hate the smell, but I don’t.

"I smell like whoever I want to smell like" she says, jabbing her elbow into my rib and I hiss. Catching her arm to stop her before she would hit me again.

Frustrating woman.

"Stop it" I say.

"I can beat you up right now and there’s nothing you can do about it" she says with a grin.

"Get lost" is the only response I give her, turning my head away from her arm. She wants to hit me again.

"Why did you smell like my personal assistant?" I ask and she shrugs, wearing a smug look on her face.

"You fired her. She’s mine now" she says and I sigh.

It’s better for me to let them be.

They are two grown fucking women and can do whatever they like with and to each other.

"If she hurts you, I’ll kill her. And if you hurt her, I’ll avoid your call for three years" I tell my older sister, and she responds by taking a drag of her cigarette.

"I looked into Seoha’s missing ring" she says, puffing out a cloud of smoke in my face.

Fuck.

It makes me want to sneak one, but I won’t. I have to control myself. My mate is pregnant with twins and he doesn’t like the smell.

Taking care of him and our pups is first on my list.

"Get that out of my face. I didn’t tell you about a fucking missing ring" I say, and she hits me successfully.

"Stop cursing in front of me, I am your mother figure" she hisses at me, and I bare my teeth at her.

"I know you used to eat sugar when you should’ve listened to mom, you can’t be my mother figure" I say.

I don’t mean it.

She is the only one who stands for me as a mother figure. She’s my only living family member. She’s all I have, but I can’t tell her that.

"How did you know about the ring?" I ask again and she takes her time to take another drag of her cigarette.

"One, he is clearly not wearing the ring you and I cried over" she says and I scowl.

"I didn’t cry"

"Can you let me speak?" she snaps and I huff.

"Secondly, isn’t fate real? The moon goddess showered me with support. I overheard a worker at the airport talking about robing a stupid Korean man who looks like Sooin" she says, and I clench my teeth.

I’m already on edge from her teasing, and she’s praising my biggest rival. The moon goddess.

"Noona" I rub at my temple.

"I had my connection hack into their system" she pauses. Waiting for me to question her ’connection’ but I ask no questions.

The only thing on my mind is getting my mate’s ring back.

"So?" I ask, impatient with how much information she’s holding back from me.

"So, I gave the man a fake vacation; he just arrived home in South Korea for a break. I have his address too" she says, and I don’t hide my pleased look.

Good.

Perfect even.

This is the first time I’m fucking proud of my sister.

"You did good, noona. We’ll go after him right now" I say and she shakes her head.

"I’m going after him myself, you’re still hurt" she says.

"You know you can’t stop me" I roll my shoulder.

"Fine, Yuki and I already prepared a few things. Bleach, ropes, plier" she lists.

"Plier?" I ask.

"To pull out the fingers that stole my mother’s ring" she says casually. My sister doesn’t participate in Kang Clan violence, but I suspect she has something she’s hiding.

Something that’s not my fucking business.

"Let’s go" I say and a few hours later, we’re in the elevator of a cheap, run-down apartment building.

The old elevator has an unsteady blinking white light and is moving with a rattling noise.

I’m holding a cane delivered to me by one of my men.

It’s one of the ones I personally designed. The walking stick has a bronze tiger head. It’s designed to look calm and disarming. That is the way I look when I do my public business.

Mountain Atelier.

"It’s taking forever to get off this floor" Yuki complains, and my sister gives her a soft smile. They are starting to irritate me.

They are only sleeping together and they’re already giving each other heart eyes.

Disgusting. Pathetic. Tch.

My daughter will be tough. Her brothers would look after her. I’ll teach them how to fight too.

"Finally!" Yuki says with the smile of an angel.

She’s wearing her signature yellow dress that hides the tattoos decorating her skin. She’s fucking deceptive. A demon in angel skin.

We walk to the man’s door and Yuki kicks it down.

The weak door gives way to her, and our prey of the day yells. Rushing out of his bathroom to see what is going on.

"Who...who are you?" he hides his stutter with a yell. He’s wet and wearing a towel around his waist.

"Remember me? The woman with the kid" Taerin says in perfect English and the man frowns, confused as to why she’s here.

"Yes, why...why are you in my house. Get out or I’ll call the police" he bares his teeth at us, and I sigh.

"You made fun of my niece and my brother-in-law" Taerin says, and while she’s still being polite, I lose my fucking temper. I pull the handle out of his falling apart door and throw it at him.

He screams and drops to the floor, screaming in pain at the metal digging into his skull.

"I was talking to him, you punk" Taerin noona scolds in korean, and Yuki starts to walk around the house like she’s looking for something she misplaced.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about. HELP!" he screams, holding his head up to stop the bleeding from his head.

"You robbed an omega, didn’t you?" I growl, ready to murder him here and now.

How dare he?

"I was just holding on to the card and ring" the man starts to sob, crawling backwards as I take slow steps towards him.

"Card?" I ask, holding his jaw and tipping his head back.

"Seoha didn’t tell me about the card" I murmur, giving myself enough space to hit my cane in the center of his head.

I hit him too hard and he passes out.

"He’s not dead" Yuki announces from across the room, holding up a box. "Can you leave some of him for unnie and I?" she asks and opens the box.

"Empty" she murmurs.

"We have time, we’ll wake him up and have him cough up the ring" My sister says and I take my seat.

Fuck, I miss being on the field and dismembering fuckers.

Can I really give the underworld up?
