Chapter 266: Floating in my head

Seoha’s POV

"San, don’t be stubborn" Taerin noona’s voice pierces through the thick fog in my head.

Oh...my head feels so floaty like I’m in space.

Did I drown and die? No, I don’t think so. Taesan will never let me die or drown. I’m on our bed in Taerin noona’s guest room.

"You can’t go" she says and I hear movements, someone is pacing the room and they sound big...is it Taesan?

"Taesan" Taerin noona calls.

"You can’t change my mind" my alpha’s rough, deep voice says and my omega perks up. We’re interested in seeing the man we love, but my eyes won’t open.

My eyes are not even trying to open.

My head is thudding like there are two dwarfs stomping around in my head.

"You really can’t go there, what if it’s a trap?" noona asks and the moving around stops briefly, it seems as if he’s thinking about it.

Where is Taesan going? Why is his older sister so worried about the place he’s going to? Is the place that bad?

"Answer me, and if it’s a trap, what next?" Taerin asks in that authoritative tone.

"I’ll tear through them," Taesan says with a growl in his voice, "all of them" he adds and I feel the chill in the room.

’Seoha wake up, open your eyes!’ I yell in my head, trying to wake myself up.

"You don’t understand my point, stop walking around" Taerin’s voice snaps, and I hear a groan from Taesan.

He sounds like he’s fed up with the argument.

"You...you don’t understand how I’m seeing this, San. Anyone who has the guts to touch our grandfather is dangerous!" Taerin’s voice raises with her anger.

"I don’t give a fuck about grandfather; I don’t give a shit about that bastard" Taesan snaps back.

"Taesan" Taerin growls in a warning tone.

"It’s my mate I’m worried about" he says and I hear a sigh from Taerin. Their conversation is hurting my head even more.

I want to wake up and ask the context of the conversation, but my body is taking forever to join my mind.

The tension is suffocating me.

"Noona," Taesan’s voice breaks as he calls his sister by the familial title.

"I promised Seoha the future" he says, and I can imagine him running his fingers through his hair.

"And you will fulfill that promise, I’ll make sure you fulfill it" his sister says and Taesan chuckles darkly, sending another chilling shudder through me.

"I can’t do that if my city is on fire and if Mountain Aterlier is gone" Taesan says and I gasp.

Who is threatening Mountain Aterlier?

That place is Taesan’s home and dream, he worked hard to build it, no one should attack it.

’Don’t worry Taesan, I’ll fight for you, we’ll protect your company’ I say in my head.

Why are my body and mouth not cooperating with me? I need to talk to Taesan and tell him not to worry.

"I understand you, little brother, I really do" Taerin says and my alpha curses under his breath.

The pacing resumes.

I hear the uncomfortable squeak of the wardrobe door’s hinges, and then the sound of a bag zipping and unzipping.

Wait...Taesan is going somewhere and he’s packing up a bag.

No. No. No. No.

"If you need back up, call me, okay?" Taerin says but her younger brother doesn’t respond. "San, tell me you will call me, please" she pleads.

"I can’t get you in trouble Noona, mom asked me to look after you" Taesan says.

"Mom asked me to look after you too, little brother" she says, and it sounds like she’s on the verge of tears.

Where is my mate going to? Are they going to hurt him?

"W-where?" I manage to ask. My tongue is heavy as I push the words out, and even better, I force my eyes open.

Everything feels heavy.

"Where are you going?" I push myself to say more and Taesan comes over to bed.

He doesn’t answer my question. Instead, the alpha places his palm on forehead to feel my temperature.

"He’s burning up again" he says to Taerin, and she gives him a response, but I don’t hear what she said,

My whole body is only attuned to Taesan.

"Where?" I ask again and he gives me a smile.

He’s smiling but his eyes are not full of light like they were some hours ago, or was that moment two days ago? I can’t tell.

Everything is so hot and hazy.

"I’ll be back, baby" he says and I shake my head as best as I can, it’s a slow movement of head.

"I want to- I want to go with you" I say in a weak and shaky voice.

"You can’t"

"Please"

"You’re sick, baby, you can’t travel sick"

"Then wait for me" I insist and he laughs, this time his eyes shine, but the spark is brief.

"I can’t have you spending time with Minjae, he’s a bad influence on you" he says and I sniffle. A single hot tear slides down my temple and ends up in my ear.

"It’s okay Seoha, I’ll be back before you know it, okay? I’ll be quick" my alpha says but for some reason I don’t believe it.

"You’re leaving me" I say, and more tears slip out of my eyes and Taesan kneels by the bed.

"You think I can leave you, little deer?" he asks.

"You’re leaving" I keep saying the same words.

"You’ve stolen my heart, little thief" he says, pushing my hair out of my face, "I’m sure I can’t live without my heart, so I’ll come back to you" he kisses my forehead.

It feels wrong.

"Don’t get hurt" I manage to say.

"I won’t" he whispers. His hand moves over my body and pulls my shirt up. The alpha dips his head and kisses my belly.

"I love you, keep our babies and our princess safe, okay?" he says and I do the best version of a nod that I can manage.

"I love you, come back" I say, but I don’t think he heard me, the tiredness has taken over me again.

My body has gone weak.
