Chapter 264: Are you REALLY happy?

Seoha’s POV

I wake up on the hospital seat to someone wrapping a heavy jacket around me.

The scent of its owner surrounds me and I purr softly, rubbing my cheek into the fabric to feel it more. It’s wet, but it feels like what I need.

When I finally open my eyes and look up, I find the owner of the jacket looking at me with dark brown foxlike eyes.

It’s my mate.

"Wake up, little deer" he says to me, voice low and rough.

Kang Taesan is looking down at me with softness in his eyes. He’s wearing his rimless glasses, and he looks as tired as I feel.

The white shirt that was under his jacket is also wet.

I blink twice, coming to consciousness slowly as I stare at his muscles through the translucent fabric.

"You fell asleep sobbing about sonder and child birth, now you’re ogling me?" the alpha asks and I gasp.

"Don’t say things like that" I protest with a sleepy pout, and he squats in front of me, holding on to my hands.

I slept on the hospital chair with my back resting against the seat, my neck feels sore, and my body is starting to ache.

"Are you okay, baby?" Taesan asks and I sigh, looking around before I answer. The place is still buzzing with life and activities.

It smells clean too, like medicines and everything I hate. I don’t know how long we’ve been here, but I still hate being at a hospital.

"My neck hurts" I say, freeing one of my hands to rub at it, and Taesan watches me quietly, observing the way my hand rubs at the stiff muscle of my neck.

"Is Minjae okay? how long did I sleep?" I ask and he gives a small smile.

"You slept for only thirty minutes" he says.

"It feels longer than thirty minutes" I yawn.

"I know. Come on, it’s time to take you home" Taesan pats my knees.

"But Minjae..."

"Is now a mom" Taesan says and my eyes widen.

What? I slept for thirty minutes, I wasn’t allowed into the room with him, I was told to stay away because of my own pregnancy...now he’s a mom?

"R-really?" I stutter and Taesan nods. He pulls himself up and holds his hand out for me to take and follow him.

"Come on, little deer, you’re wet" the alpha says as if he didn’t just deliver the most important news of my life to me.

"Wait...you said Minnie is now a mom? How is the baby?" I ask, still dazed and happy about the news.

"Safe, baby. His son is safe, now please let me take you home. You might get sick if you don’t rest or change your clothes" Taesan says.

I nod reluctantly.

I don’t want to go home yet, but I get to my feet, letting the alpha lead me out of the hospital and to the car.

My best friend is really a mom now.

He fought to save his pup; he fought hard to make his dream of becoming a parent come true.

That choice cost him his love life...but now he’s a mom.

I wipe a secret tear off as Taesan helps me into the car. And like an addiction we’ve developed, I crawl into his lap and hide my face in his neck.

My brain is half-asleep but fully happy.

"He’s now a mom" I murmur, and Taesan hums, distracted with rubbing his palm over the small curve of my hip.

"I’ll be a mom too..." I whisper and Taesan stops rubbing my hip.

I push myself away from his neck to look at his face. I’m so worried that I’ve said something wrong, but to my surprise...he’s looking at me with tears in his eye.

I reach up and touch his cheek.

"Sannah...what’s wrong?" I ask, throat closing up from how devastated he looks.

"Tonight...tonight I had a hundred thoughts hitting me at once" he says and I hum, letting him know that I’m listening to him.

"When it’s time for you to have our babies, Seoha, I’ll give the world to make sure you won’t go through any pains" he says and relax into his arms again.

"I’ll be there with you; I’ll hold your hands. I swear to you, Seoha, I’ll stay by your side and make sure you’ll never get hurt" he says with tears streaming down his face and dropping on me.

When we were on our way here, Taesan had acted like he didn’t care about Minjae.

He had looked unbothered and unworried, yet he’s crying about it to me...oh Taesan, you’ll never be the beast your grandfather thinks you are.

"I was scared Minjae wouldn’t make it..." he says in a softer voice and my heart burns for him.

Kang Taesan has a good heart. The alpha doesn’t look like it or act like it most of the time, but he does.

"He made it, Sannah, Minjae is okay. He’ll be home and back to bullying to you again" I say and the big alpha laughs through his tears.

"Yes, he will be" he says and tips his head back, shutting his eyes to keep the tears at bay.

"Don’t be sad, when it’s my turn, nothing bad will happen" I whisper and he nods, opening his eyes again to look at me.

"In the meantime, you need to have a good sleep and a warm shower" he says, rubbing his wide palm over my hip again.

No one cares for me better than him, he makes my heart swell with so much happiness.

I make the prayer in my head before I fall asleep again.

’Goddess, I don’t want to lose him like I lost everyone else, please let me live happily too’

"Mom!" Sooin calls for me, giggling as she runs through a field of white and blue flowers.

Her smile is wide and bright as she runs towards me with a toddler at her side, and the little boy with her looks so much like my best friend.

"Don’t run so fast" I call back with my hands cupped over my mouth, laughing at how cute they are.

"Mom!" Sooin calls again and I wave at her, looking behind me at Taesan.

The alpha is holding two babies, and our twins are playing in his arms, trying to pull their dad’s hair.

"Are you happy?" Taesan asks and I nod with vigor, grinning so wide that I feel my cheeks starting to hurt from how happy I am.

"Are you really happy, Seoah?" a male voice asks, and I turn around, startled by the unexpected person.

"I am happy...who are you?" I ask the man and he comes closer to me.

"Really?" he asks and I turn around again to look for Taesan.

Taesan is gone, the twins are gone, Sooin is gone, and Minjae’s son is gone too.

"YOU’RE REALLY HAPPY?" the man roars and I wake up in a bathtub full of cold water.

I’m drowning!
