Chapter 245: I’m just dad

Taesan’s POV

Sooin startles in her sleep as the jet lands and I rock her gently to keep her asleep.

She has been clinging to me, and it makes me feel fucking proud that she still recognizes me as a parent. She has Seoha’s gentle scent, yet she chose me.

Dad.

I’m a killer. The murderer of an entire law firm. The unknown captain that wrecked havoc on a normal business noon.

But to my little girl, I’m just dad.

I pat her stomach. Rubbing it in the same way I’ve been doing since she told me she had a stomach ache. I rub and then mutter soft questions to her. Checking the level of the pain and if she’s awake or asleep.

"We need to discuss some things" Junho says quietly.

He made himself partially invisible through the trip. He kept staring at Minjae like a lost puppy, but the omega wasn’t looking at him.

Pathetic.

Minjae and Seoha are lying stomach to stomach, sleeping next to each other and unaware that we’re landing.

"Put the omegas in one car, then you and I will take the other one"

"Yes captain, and Sooin?" he asks, looking at my daughter.

"I’ll convince her to stay with Seoha, and if she doesn’t agree. We’ll take her and talk in codes" I give Junho the run down of our plan and he nods.

"Should I tell the driver to take us to the hospital first?" he asks.

"Check the condition of the omegas, if they can hold up for visiting the hospital first, then we’ll do just that" is my response.

We have very important reasons to go to the hospital. I need to know why my little girl is in pain, and I need to know how my unborn pup is doing.

I could have had the tests done at home, but the risk of information leaking is too strong. I don’t trust anyone around me.

"I’ll attend to the omegas" Junho says, going back to wake our omegas.

Junho helps Minjae out of the couch and the sleepy omega melts into his arms.

"Junho" Minjae says softly, pressing his face into Junho’s neck.

"It’s time to get up, we’re here" my righthand man says.

He sounds nothing like the machine I know. He sounds nothing like the Junho who cut down ten men in five minutes. People fear me and my loss of control, but Junho...even in control, if he chooses to, he can ruin a city.

"I can’t feel my legs" Minjae murmurs.

"I’ll carry you" Junho says and the omega nods.

"Wake Seo-ya, I want him" he says, pointing his finger at his sleeping friend.

My mate’s mouth is slightly opened in his sleep. He looks so cute that I wish I could hold him at least once before we leave the jet.

Fuck.

How long has it been since I held him? Looking at him is not enough, I want him in my arms.

"Seoha, we’re here" Junho pats Seoha’s shoulder, and he wakes up immediately. He looks around before rubbing his fist against his eyes.

"Taesan?" he asks, looking at me from where he is and I give him a small smile.

"I’m here, little deer"

"Go on, I’ll be with you in a few minutes" I say and he nods.

Junho helps him up too. He holds Seoha’s hand to put him in the path to walk before he carries Minjae bridal style.

I get up after they’re done and take Sooin with me.

"Princess?" I call, patting her back to wake her up, and she tightens her arms around my neck.

"Dad, unicorn jumps high" she says without opening her eyes, and I hum in agreement. Whatever she says is exactly what it is.

"Yes princess, unicorn jumps high" I repeat.

"And I love you, dad" she says.

"I love you more, baby" I say and she giggles, still asleep but talking to me like she’s awake.

"Baby girl, you have to stay with Seoha, dad has to work on something" I tell her.

"Seoha is mama? That girl, Haeri has a mama" my little girl says and my heart clenches as I pat her back again. "You can call Seoha mama, but ask him first"

I’m glad she’s getting Jaemin out of her mind and her life.

"Seoha is mama" Sooin concludes.

We stop in front of the car Seoha and Minjae are in. Both omega are already wide-eyed and looking around the new city from inside the car.

I tap the window once to get Seoha’s attention and he immediately gives me a smile.

"Sooin will be with you, are you okay to visit the hospital?" I ask.

"Yes, we’re okay" he says and I open the door, handing our daughter to him. And the girl is in his arms, Seoha starts to coo at her.

"I’ll see you later at the hospital" I nod. I step back and slap the side of the car to get them going. The driver drives off with them.

My own car is waiting and Junho is standing next to it with his hands in his pocket.

"Let’s talk" I say, sliding into the car and waiting for Junho to do same. Once my beta gets in and settles in, my driver takes off.

"The massacre will be spoken about for a while, so you have to be extra careful" Junho dives right into the conversation and I fold my arms across my chest.

"There’s someone after my mate" I inform Junho.

"The lawyer?"

"No, he was just a casualty"

"And the other people in the building? Were they casualties?" he asks and I give him a flat look.

"There is someone after my mate" I repeat pointedly and he sighs.

"I’ll dig into it. Our men will start looking for the person, but what information do we have about this?" he pulls out his phone to take notes and I shut my eyes briefly.

"The Hwang told me they traced the person to that lawyer Kim. The person was reportedly looking for the lawyer and I don’t know why"

"And you didn’t ask?"

I give him that look again and my beta clenches his jaw, he’s just seconds away from punching me.

"Damnit Taesan" he murmurs, looking outside the window to calm himself.

"Fine, the lawyer is dead. I’ll search his things for any information we can salvage" he says, breathing through his nose.

"Good then, and the police? What do we have for them?"

"We set up someone else. A man called Lee Sookmin" he passes his phone for me to see the man.

He’s almost as big as I am, he also has dark hair, wild eyes and a scar on his face.

Luckily there are no witnesses to tell the police that he’s the wrong person.

"He’s an underground worker for your grandfather. He’s notorious for being troublesome, taking him down in your place won’t cause anyone to bat an eyelash"

"Make sure he ends up dead or in life imprisonment"

"We also ran through the background of your victims. Taesan, you have innocent people’s blood on your hand" Junho says while shaking his head.

I don’t.

I know he’s wrong. Junho, the ethical one between us, will always find a way to make sure I don’t end up harming the innocent.

"You would have stopped me if they were all innocent, you know only you can stop me" I tell him.

"Fine, but don’t make me clean up an entire building of dead bodies again" he snaps at me.

"We are here sir. The omegas have gone into the hospital" my driver alerts us and we get out of the car.

He had stopped driving for ten minutes ago and waited till we finished talking. Luckily, the hospital is a small and private one, so we find them quickly.

Minjae is sitting in the waiting room and tells us to sit with him. He and Junho start to argue quietly and I really want to slam their faces together.

Soon, Seoha comes back out with Sooin in his arms.

"How is she?" I ask.

"The stomach ache is from bad food" Seoha says.

Bad food? I know I provide well enough for Sooin not to have stomach aches, something is off.

"I have been given a prescription for her too" he says and passes the paper to me.

"I don’t want medicine, I don’t like it" Sooin whines.

"Medicine will help your belly hurt less sweetie, come stay with me" Minjae beckons for Sooin.

I almost growl as Seoha hands my pup over to his friend, but the growl stops when Sooin relaxes into Minjae’s hand.

"Mr Shin? It’s time for your ultrasound" a nurse calls in English and Seoha looks at me with round eyes.

"She said it’s time to go in" I translate to him. My omega looks nervous as I take his hand and lead him into the room.

"Welcome, don’t be nervous. My assistant here speaks Korean" the doctor in the room says.

"No need for that, I’m fluent" I say and he gives me a happy smile.

"Great then, help me talk your mate through the process" he says and I do just that.

Every instruction he gives, I translate it to our native language, holding back a growl as the doctor touches my mate’s stomach.

When did his belly get that small bump?

"Ah...there they are" he says, moving the device over Seoha’s small bump.

"They?" I ask.

"Yes, the twins" he points at the screen but I don’t see anything. My brain...my brain seems to be temporarily suspended.

Twins? I’m having...twins?
