Chapter 124: 124: HOW AN F RANK PLAYS.

Ryan struggled to his feet, a streak of blood running down the side of his head as he stared at Finn, who had also fallen to the floor.

"I’m sorry... I was blown off by the wind, so I..." Finn stammered.

Ryan didn’t have time to waste on him. He instantly turned to continue the control he had been maintaining, but it was already too late. In that short moment of disconnection, a lot had happened.

Simon’s energy cracked, giving Evelyn the space she needed to act. As soon as she landed on the ground, Evelyn instantly regained control of herself and the situation.

She activated her full guiding abilities.

And that involved playing with the minds of the Espers around her—a high-level skill.

Skilled enough, Evelyn firmly regained control over her Espers and stabilized them. She healed the internal damage and lapses in their energy, specifically Jason and Rayder’s. Then, going even further, she began corrupting the minds of the other Espers—Nyx, Kael, and Simon.

Evelyn had somehow managed to interfere with the connections established between the Guides and their Espers, leaving June and Ryan in intense mental pain.

"Ouch...!"

June fell to his knees, blood spilling from his nose from the forced disruption of the connection between him and Nyx.

Ryan opened his eyes after the sudden disconnection and stared into the distance.

"Oh shit... she is powerful," he muttered.

Evelyn left the other Espers struggling to maintain steady mental energy as she sent powerful echoes through the atmosphere.

The echoing radiation messed with their minds.

Nyx, Simon, and Kael had all fallen to their knees, struggling as pain rushed through their veins and the strange radiation invaded their mental states.

And the Guides couldn’t help either. The radiation affected them as well, leaving June, Finn, and Ryan on their knees. Their minds were clouded, and they couldn’t concentrate properly at all.

"What the hell is this...?" June groaned through the mental pain.

Ryan managed to speak. "She is already experienced in this space... so she knows how to play around with it."

"How unfair..." June gritted his teeth.

The Espers of the Elite 5 immediately took advantage of the situation and attacked, taking Kael, Nyx, and Simon on while completely beating them into submission.

Luther grabbed Kael and struck him relentlessly, sending him crashing through rocks and pillars. Kael was bruised and bleeding heavily.

Jason used his flames to blast Nyx repeatedly, while Karen used his fists and legs to mercilessly strike Simon. They had pushed all three of them to their worst state and were clearly working toward ending the fight before moving on to claim their prize.

Rayder landed on the ground and majestically walked toward where the Guides were kneeling.

They were in too much pain to properly fight back.

Rayder arrived where Ryan knelt, grabbed him by the neck, and gripped him firmly until Ryan began choking.

"Useless," he snapped before throwing Ryan aside.

Then he turned toward June.

With a smile on his face, Rayder approached and leaned down until his eyes met June’s.

"You should have listened... and now look at you." Rayder shook his head. "You had your little minion beat me up, eh? I’ll make you pay for that."

He gripped June firmly by the neck.

"You had the chance to join me... but now it’s too late."

June stared directly into his eyes with a smile.

"I’d rather join a circus than stand next to you."

His eyes remained locked onto Rayder’s as he began his countdown.

It was the perfect opportunity.

And June was about to show him exactly how an F-rank Guide played.

Rayder scoffed. "You still have pride, huh? I guess I’ll have to smash you into bones to break that pride."

June smiled.

"Get ready to eat those words of yours, dog."

The moment his countdown ended, June immediately took control of Rayder.

"Now go and get me that fashion disaster."

Rayder didn’t protest.

Immediately, he let go of June’s neck and stood firmly. Like someone being controlled by a remote, he turned and flew straight toward Evelyn.

Evelyn stood there confidently, continuing her work while watching everything fall perfectly into place. Even when Rayder approached her, she didn’t become alert.

But before she could even understand what was happening, Rayder grabbed her by the neck.

"What... what are you doing?! Let me—!"

Evelyn’s eyes widened in confusion as she struggled against his grip.

"Hey! What are you doing?! Stop now!"

But Rayder held her firmly by the neck, lifting her off her feet before turning and walking back toward June with her like some sort of gift.

The others were too occupied with their own fights to notice what was happening.

Ryan sat at a distance, still recovering from his fall as he watched the entire scene unfold.

When Rayder arrived, he presented Evelyn before June. June was already standing, though he was still struggling with the radiation affecting his mind.

"Good boy," June said to Rayder.

"What’s this...? What’s happening...?" Evelyn questioned in confusion.

Struggling to breathe, she stared at June.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

June smiled at her.

"Had enough fun? Now it’s my turn."

He stared directly into her eyes.

"What the fuck are you doing?! What the fuck did you do to him—?!"

Before she could finish, Evelyn suddenly lost control of herself.

Rayder released her.

The two of them now stood before June like obedient little soldiers waiting for instructions.

June turned toward the battlefield and calmly said, "Stop the radiation."

Evelyn obeyed without hesitation.

The radiation immediately stopped, and June was finally free. His mind cleared as he closed and opened his eyes, inhaling deeply before slowly exhaling.

Then he turned toward the scene where his teammates were still being beaten up.

"You know what?" June smiled. "Let’s play a fun game."

He stared at Evelyn.

"Cut the synchronicity now."

Evelyn didn’t hesitate.

She immediately cut off the synchronicity supporting her Espers, leaving them vulnerable and without their internal protection.

"Now stop the corruption."

June gave the next command, and Evelyn obeyed again.

The corruption affecting Kael, Simon, and Nyx immediately stopped, freeing them from the mental interference that had affected their states.

June finally smiled, folding his arms as he stared up at the battlefield.

"Now let’s end this silly game."
