Chapter 61: Chapter 61: The Person I Didn’t Want to See

~Reynold’s POV~

My gaze dropped to the silver chain resting against the collar of her top. Hanging against her skin was the exact same pendant, the signature necklace Frederick had given me.

I froze for a second.

That’s the same necklace Frederick gave me.

There were only two of them in the world. Frederick had once told me that the other one belonged to someone very important to him.

My eyes dropped to the necklace around Lily’s neck again. Oh... so Lily is the important person Frederick was talking about. Of course she is. She’s his daughter. If Lily has one, and I have the other... then what am I to him? He keeps saying he doesn’t love me, so why did he give me the necklaces?

I quickly pushed the thought aside and smiled at her. "Your dad said you’re heading to your grandmother’s house."

"Yes!" Lily nodded, adjusting her jacket. "I was actually just about to call Dad and tell him I’m leaving."

"I’ll be leaving for campus early tomorrow morning," I told her, feeling a little sad. "So I’ll already be gone by the time you get back tomorrow evening."

Lily grinned warmly. "Aww, that’s okay. It was really nice having you here. Hopefully, I’ll get to see you again."

"Definitely," I replied with a smile. "Take care of yourself."

She turned to her father and gave him a tight hug before leaning in to whisper something quickly into his ear, something too quiet for me to hear. Frederick simply gave a soft nod.

Pulling back, Lily gave us both one final wave before turning toward the front doors, where her waiting car was already idling outside.

As the heavy oak doors clicked shut behind her, the grand foyer grew quiet again.

Frederick turned his attention back to me, his dark eyes softening just a fraction. "Is there anything you want, Reynold? Or anywhere you want to go before tomorrow?"

I looked up at him, a sudden surge of playful courage bubbling up in my chest. I offered him a bright, cheeky grin. "Yes."

His brow arched in mild curiosity. "Where?"

"Your heart," I answered smoothly.

Without missing a beat, I raised both hands, tracing a dramatic little heart shape in the air right in front of his chest.

I waited for a reaction—a smirk, a laugh, something to show he was touched by my cheesy romantic line.

Instead, Frederick just stared at me.

His expression remained entirely blank, his eyes tracking my hand movements with the deadpan confusion of a man watching a foreign species perform a baffling ritual. He looked at me the exact same way he would look at a quarterly financial report that made zero mathematical sense.

My cheeks instantly caught fire. Oh God. Cringe.

Panic seized me. I dropped my hands so fast I nearly dislocated my wrists, swallowed hard, and spun around on my heel.

"I’m sorry, Mr. Corvin."

Before he could say a single word, I bolted toward the grand staircase, taking the steps two at a time in a desperate, undignified rush to escape my own humiliation. I didn’t wait for him to follow.

Oh God, I kept chanting in my mind. Why do you keep embarrassing yourself? You’re a catch, Reynold. You deserve to be chased after, not running around trying to win over a man who claims he doesn’t want love.

I stormed straight into the bedroom and threw myself onto the bed, turning on the TV to distract myself.

Frederick joined me not long after, though he didn’t say a word about my dramatic exit. I kept my attention on the movie while Frederick brought his laptop onto the bed and started working. We stayed there quietly, each of us occupied with our own thing, until I eventually fell asleep.

The rest of the day blurred past in a cycle of waking up and dozing off again while Frederick stayed busy with work. Before I knew it, evening had melted into night, and Frederick had the maids bring dinner up to the room.

We ate in a quiet, comfortable silence, staying up for a little while longer before I drifted off to sleep first, unaware of when Frederick finally went to sleep.

The next morning, soft sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a pale glow across the bedroom. I was still deeply asleep, curled up comfortably beside Frederick, when I felt him gently shake my shoulder.

"Reynold," he called softly. "Wake up."

I stirred sleepily, barely opening my eyes. "Get up. It’s time to get ready so the driver can take you back."

I immediately burrowed deeper into the blankets, clinging to him. "No, I’m not going. I don’t want to leave you."

"Little pet," Frederick murmured.

"I mean it," I mumbled, refusing to budge. "I’m not going back. I’ll stay right here with you."

Frederick tried to coax me out of bed, but I stubbornly refused to move. I seriously didn’t want to leave him.

Finally, a slow, teasing smile touched his lips. "Alright. If you get up right now, I’ll go with the driver and drop you off at campus myself. But if you’re going to be stubborn..."

Before he could finish his sentence, I shot out of bed like lightning and bolted straight into the bathroom. Frederick let out a deep laugh as he followed right behind me.

As the hot water cascaded down around us, the tension of having to part ways melted into pure, reckless excitement. Knowing he was actually coming with me in the car made my chest light up, and before I even realized what I was doing, I started swaying my hips, shaking my ass playfully under the spray as I danced against the tiled wall.

A low, dark growl ripped from Frederick’s throat. The playful light in his eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a raw hunger.

"You’re playing with fire, little pet," he murmured, stepping into my space before I could even blink.

He didn’t give me a chance to tease him further. In one swift, commanding motion, he spun me around, pressing my palms flat against the wet, slippery tiles. The cold shock of the wall contrasted sharply with the burning heat of his body pressing flush against my back.

Before I could catch my breath, he lifted me slightly and drove straight inside me in one punishing, glorious thrust.

"Ah—! Fuck—" I gasped, my head dropping back against his shoulder as the sudden, deep penetration stole the air right from my lungs.

He didn’t hold back. His hands clamped firmly around my hips, holding me in place as he pounded into me, harder and deeper, matching the frantic rhythm of our racing pulses. The wet echoes of our bodies slapping together bounced off the bathroom walls, drowning out the sound of the shower. Every thrust hit that exact sweet spot inside me, sending white-hot shivers straight down my spine.

"Frederick—yes, fuck—" I sobbed out, my fingers gripping the tile seams as my legs trembled beneath the intense friction.

He groaned my name against the shell of my ear, his pace turning desperate and heavy. The mere perfection of it pushed me over the edge faster than I could handle. My vision blurred, and with a ragged cry, I came hard, my seed spilling out to mix with the water running down the tiles and the floor below.

A second later, a low, guttural roar broke from Frederick’s chest as he drove himself as deep as he possibly could, pumping into me one last brutal, perfect time before he flooded me completely, his hot release pulsing deep inside my core.

We stood there for a long, breathless moment, locked together against the wall, our chests heaving as the hot water washed over our skin.

When we finally caught our breath, Frederick gently pulled back. He washed me carefully, first between my legs, then the rest of my body, before washing himself and turning off the shower. With unexpected tenderness, he picked up a soft towel and dried me himself, wiping away the remnants of what we had just done. Then he wrapped a fluffy towel securely around my waist and another around his own.

"I’m fine. I’ll eat later on campus," I replied.

Frederick gave a soft nod. "Alright."

Once we finished dressing, he stepped closer, picking up his signature bottle of cologne to mist a light, familiar scent over me. He pulled me in close for a lingering kiss, his hand resting softly on the back of my neck.

"Be a good boy for Daddy, okay?" he murmured against my lips.

I nodded, a soft smile touching my face. "Okay, Daddy."

As usual, before we walked out, he handed me a thick envelope filled with crisp cash. Moments later, my phone chimed in my pocket with a notification confirming a generous bank transfer.

I leaned up to kiss him again, my heart fluttering. "Thank you, Daddy."

"You’re welcome," he murmured, his thumb brushing my cheek.

We headed downstairs together and walked straight out to the waiting car. The driver opened the door, and Frederick let me get in first before climbing in beside me. Once the doors clicked shut, the driver got into the front seat and started the engine.

"Just so you know," Frederick said, turning to me, "I’m not staying. I’m only going with you to drop you off, and then I’ll ride back home with the driver."

"That’s fine," I murmured, leaning into his side.

The driver pulled out through the estate gates, and we began the long journey back to campus. The first part of the drive passed quietly, with me staying close to Frederick and enjoying the little time I had left with him. We talked occasionally, but most of the journey was spent in comfortable silence.

As the hours passed, the scenery outside the window gradually changed from the quiet roads around the estate to the familiar streets leading toward my university. I knew we were getting closer, and the thought of leaving Frederick made me hold onto him a little tighter.

Eventually, after several hours on the road, the luxury car began to slow down as we approached the campus gates. Students were already moving along the walkways, some heading toward their classes while others stood around chatting.

My heart immediately tightened. I looked outside, silently praying that I wouldn’t run into anyone I knew before I could get out of the car.

"I’m leaving," I told Frederick, reaching for the door.

"Alright," he replied.

But before I could reach the door handle, Frederick gently caught my chin and turned my face toward him.

"Give me a kiss goodbye."

I smiled at him without hesitation, I leaned closer, and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his lips. When we finally pulled apart, I turned back toward the door and reached for the handle.

Then my eyes caught a familiar figure standing near the campus entrance, staring at the sleek luxury car with unmistakable curiosity.

My breath caught.

I froze for a moment before glancing back at Frederick, my eyes widening.

"That’s my friend... Julian."
