Beauty in the beast world
Chapter 363: A gift
Lyra was trying to knit socks for the baby but failed at it multiple times. The leader of the vulture tribe and his spouse recently had a baby girl. She had gone to visit the new mother and happened to notice that she had knitted beautiful clothes for her baby. Lyra had felt her heart full seeing those tiny socks. So, here she was, trying to knit clothes for her own baby.
Roma, the vulture leader’s spouse had taught her the basics, but Lyra sucked at this job. She also didn’t want to disturb the recovering mother by asking her to teach it again. No matter what, she would make sure to figure it out on her own. She could ask Victor but he had been busy the last few days.
"Ly?" Just as she was about to restart knitting, she heard Lucas’ voice and stood up from her chair. Setting the threads on the table beside her, she walked out of the patio and inside the castle to find her mate waiting for her. He had a wide grin on his face as soon as she came into his view and rushed to hug her.
Lyra felt her feet leave the ground as he picked her up and held her close. "I had missed you so much." She heard him say and couldn’t help but chuckle.
"It has only been a week, my dearest."
"I feel like it has been years." He had planned to visit her every day, but that wasn’t possible with all the work that seemed to find him whenever he was about to leave. His tribe was one thing, but Lucas couldn’t leave Noah to manage things on his own when he was newly crowned. The council and ambitious elders were waiting like hawks to gain more power during Noah’s difficult time. That wouldn’t be possible once he comes into his complete authority, but till then, Noah has to be cautious. This was also why it was better for the cubs to stay with their mother here in the vulture tribe.
Speaking of them, Lucas saw the two fur balls dash toward him from across the room. He bent down to pick them up and let them cuddle against his chest.
Lyra couldn’t help but smile as she saw the cubs licking Lucas’ face as a show of their affection. It warmed her heart to know that they love one another so much.
She blinked, surprised, when she felt someone holding her hand. As she turned to her side, Kaizer’s handsome face came into her view.
"Where have you been, Kai?" Lyra asked curiously. She had not seen him for three days now.
Kaixer paused before answering, "I was in the castle."
Lyra frowned. It didn’t sound right. But she decided to let it go. Kaizer had no reason to lie. She turned her attention back to Lucas while Kaizer sighed almost inaudibly.
As soon as he had learned about Princess Elena’s letter, he had gone to the Black Wolf tribe. That place had been his home for quite some time. Elena’s late father let him stay there in return for his carrying out some dangerous jobs, and that was that. Kaizer stopped going there once he found his bunny. His home was where she stayed. And it was none of his business to intervene in their tribe’s matters.
The princess hosting stray beasts inside her tribe, isolating herself and her tribe from the outside world was bizarre. Kaizer couldn’t comprehend what that female was thinking. Was she paranoid about someone hurting her after her father’s sudden death? Or was someone forcing her to make such drastic decisions? He had many doubts but only after a thorough investigation did he learn that his hunch was right. Someone was indeed forcing her hand in this matter.
The angel that wanted to hurt his bunny was occupying the wolf princess’s body. Elena had begged Lyra to help her, but he and Lyra knew it was easier said than done. There were too many things that could go wrong if they declared an all-out war against the Black Wolf tribe. The people inside could be killed if the stray beasts feel threatened. They will hold the poor females hostage against their enemies. The innocent will suffer. They also didn’t know how to remove the angel from Elena’s body. They couldn’t act hastily when many people’s lives were on the line.
They needed a solid plan, and the quickest way he and the others found after much worrying was for him to infiltrate the tribe using his shade powers. He will be undetectable once he goes inside, and he will strike the angel once they figure out a way to remove her from Elena’s body.
So he had been surveying the tribe trying to find loopholes for the tribesmen to escape safely once the war breaks out. Kaizer had a reason not to inform his bunny about this. First, he didn’t want to stress her when she was with child, and second, she seemed hesitant about telling him about the letter as soon as it arrived. The one to inform him was Killian. He felt sad that she didn’t confide in him. All he wanted her to do was order him to do it and he would have gladly done it. It hurt him that she didn’t deem him worthy enough to tell her grievances.
"I had this made for the baby" Lucas said as his servants brought in an object partially covered by a red cloth inside the hall.
Lyra still holding Kaizer’s hand moved towards the said object. She extended her other hand to remove the cover to find a beautifully carved ivory colored cradle. It had intricate designs of Birds and various kinds of animals carved on it. Only one word came to her mind seeing the carefully designed cradle.
"It’s beautiful" She ran her fingers along the designs in admiration before looking up at Lucas with a smile that reached her eyes.
Lucas put the cubs down before going to his mate. He pulled her away from Kaizer with a smirk on his face. The latter frowned as the pair moved on to check the gift in detail.
Offcourse Kaizer knew it would be difficult to share her with others, but knowing and seeing it were two different things.
